The guy who got bullied in school and turns out to be the greatest villain. Thats all I wanted to see from MJF!

Even CM Punk had to come out. Dude was shook and concerned. Asking "is it true?". Great storytelling. This feud is quite special.

The crowd began by trying to boo him out the building. The ended up in silence and even gave him a clap. Fantastic stuff

The storytelling is simply amazing. When you got two guys who are believable babyfaces AND heels you get special moments like this. This is a promo that will be remembered forever.

MJF in AEW is the best thing to happen to professional wrestling in years. A guy who encapsulates traditional heelish behaviour and puts a modern spin on it.

This promo was so epic because it was the villain origin story. Explains why he is the jerk he is in the ring. Great way of fleshing out his character that much more.

AEW can't afford to lose this guy . He HAS to be a lifer. He's wayy more important then any cm punk , or Cody

This is the first MJF promo that moved me! The cracks in the rich boy facade revealing a sad vulnerable person is what did it for me! In a roster with CM Punk and Eddie Kingston on it, it takes some effort to leave a mark and MJF did that with this promo! Excellent stuff!

The way that MJF flipped it around like Punk was the heel and he was to blame was brilliant

This story being told between MJF and CM Punk is splendid *chef's kiss* their promos just keep getting better and better! The crowd didn't even know what to do anymore lol they were like "we need to boo him because he's a heel" and by the end of the promo were like "so he only became such a major heel BECAUSE of what Punk indirectly did to fk up his life" 😱🤯😵😓 brilliant...just absolutely fn brilliant 👏👏 this feud has become so deep and personal! What an incredible promo , MJF figured his day at ppv is gonna be his worst nightmare , so he is trying to play mentally with punk , rather emotionally , what a great story

I feel like this is CM Punk passing the lessons HE learned from Raven in 2003 along to MJF in 2022. It was during the Punk/Raven feud where Punk started adding more depth to HIS character by playing into some real-world aspects of Punk, so this is just MJF doing the same.

As a guy with Cerebral Palsy and learning disabilities, that promo hit close. It was a total subversion of expectations. Brilliant. It may be a swerve, but it got me. To leave the audience silent and Punk not knowing how to react is the ultimate in words and promos.

Best promo I've ever heard anyone ever cut. When Punk came into the ring, I was finished. I can't wait to see where this goes. MJF took everything to a whole new level. He's the best.

Last night was like promo school on AEW. If anyone needed a lesson, just look at MJF, Jericho, and Eddie. Absolutely fantastic work.

That promo was like a villian giving his origin story and the viewer seeing that villiain in a different light

When the promo started, I was laughing in anticipation of the villainous punch line that never came. When it ended, I was in awe of how invested he had just gotten me into his character.

Hopefully it ain’t just mind games, MJF has one helluva origin story

This is starting to remind me of Hart vs Austin. Austin entered the match a heel and left it a babyface - by losing the match itself. That’s great storytelling.

So...I slept on it and gave it some thought. The only promos that come to mind when I think about MJF's promo: 1. Austin 3:16 2. Dusty Rhodes "Hard Times" 3. Ric Flair Royal Rumble 4. CM Punk Pipe Bomb 5. Miz Talking Smack That's it. So yes...most definitely an All Time Great promo by MJF. Salute. 💯

For anyone not old enough to remember it, the "Native American tear" thing was a public service announcement commercial about littering. The idea being that we were destroying the native american homeland with our garbage. However, that man was actually an Italian American pretending to be a native American his whole career because Hollywood wouldn't actually hire a real native american.

This AEW Dynamite🧨 was INCREDIBLE! What an amazing opener so many storylines woven in this match, Adam really let Adam have it, MJF's promo was something else, Penta is even scarier now, BUD MATT!, Eddie & Chris killed it, but that Main Event was peak wrestling. Revolution is so STACKED! Only jim cornette could hate this AEW Dynamite🧨

The best kinds of promos are the ones that come from the heart. That was half-work, half-shoot & it makes even a despicable character like MJF actually sympathetic. Pigs have officially FLOWN.

MJF is not only one of the best mic men “today” or in the “modern era” etc… He might already be in the top 5 promos of ANY era folks. Lots of great past promos out there. All time greats. But very few can hold a crowd in the palm of his hand and go in any direction he wants to go to!

It's absolutely brilliant storytelling, so multi-layered, and if you follow the lore in his character you will know this is all a ruse. His character is a calculating sociopath, the tears were "fake". He will show his true colors just like when he double crossed Cody.

Definitely a helluva promo, aside from the promo itself I just love how he walked around the ring while talking, looking in all directions not always into camera instead of just standing in one spot staring at the hard cam. BTW pardon my ignorance but what did he mean by seeing the photo of CM Punk shaking hands with Danielson that made him so angry that it made him quit school and dedicate himself to being the best wrestler in the world?

Mjf has made me a believer I always thought he was one of the best on the mic but no this was him proving he is the best in world plain and simple greatest promo I've ever heard and im a life long fan

I think Flair was the best promo. And Dusty cut the best promo of all time. MJF is on their level verbally. And I'm really looking forward to that match.

Being a father to a son that's about MJF's age, I honestly felt bad and then knew it's all a work and how talented this guy is in wrestling. I kinda believed that he was speaking about things in the past that have aggravated him and was some truth to what he was selling. Guess we'll never know. AEW is great.

Marvel and DC haven't told an villian origin story this great ever... MJF just did it in 5 minutes.

Half the fans being hesitant to clap for him just shows the amount of heat he’s been able to garner over the past couple years. I’m sure the people who didn’t clap for him were afraid he was gonna immediately start laughing at them and use it against them. 😂 MJF is so good.

The "Whoa... wait a minute... THIS IS REAL??" of this promo in the hours after the fact as a bunch of screenshots have come out confirming everything MJF said, is what makes this is insane.

I was expecting him to get the drop and get heat on Punk when he came out but the fact MJF walked out after he told him what he said was real made it more tense. This promo was Piper, Eddie Guerrero-esque. It was great.

Comparing MJF's crying to the anti-littering ad is such a "Dave moment" lol. I'm a bit older than MJF, but not by a whole lot, and I do remember seeing that ad on TV as a kid. (I think they aired it on Nick at Nite before old sitcom reruns, for some reason?)

It was an interesting thing because of a few things but the one that I was looking for is how the crowd would react. He's done similar to this type of promo before when he turned on Cody and I'm reasonably sure this is just more of the same but the fact he has me doubting even a little is good. He had the crowd in a similar way from what I saw. Punk coming out at the end with no music just plain as you like to ask really added to it.

Whether this was the greatest promo or not is not important. I think there are few factors that contributed to make this MJF promo into a great promo 1. MJF is a heel and doesn't usually break his character, even on live events. Cutting this promo gives a different side of him to the audience. Everyone has a story on what makes him who they are today whether good or bad. This is his. I think if this was not MJF, it may not be that effective. 2. You rarely see a Heel cutting a Baby Face promo. It is usually unheard of and people didnt expect this direction and got caught off guard by it. This leaves an open opportunity to see the fans reaction on this promo (whether to turn him face or make him the greatest heel of all time by playing w peoples emotion) 3. There are some certain truths on his promo (see the wrestlingclassic post on their instagram by mjf during 2015). It also raises social issues such as people who were outcast, bullying especially due to conditions like ADD or being a certain race.... Overall this was a very good promo...

This promo was almost on par with Eddie guerreros addiction promo with Brock lesnar

Amazing just amazing...I know it's controversial to say but it was as good or maybe even slightly slightly better than Dusty's "hard times" promo. I'm sorry but it was magnificent and from one of the best heels in the industry today!!! All I can say to MJF at this point is " wow, keep it up your one of the greatest talkers of all time!"....hats off!!!

That promo made mjf 4 million a year to keep him or 5 million a year to lose him to wwe. Problem is Vince will never let him cut a promo without writers intervening .

I sat there ABSOLUTELY STUNNED. I don’t recall a time where a “heel” cut a “babyface” promo. MJF is $$$$$$ on the microphone.

No matter what, cutting a great promo will always be key in wrestling. This promo took MJF to a new level in my eyes and, imo, has actually taken this feud to truly memorable status. It tapped in to a lot of unique aspects of both people and fleshed out MJF for way more than just this feud. This dude should be champ really soon as he's really the highlight of the promotion now.

Let's face it, MJF has told a lot of truth about CM Punk. Punk was loved in the WWE for being anti-establishment. It was never enough for him and he thought he knew better. After bashing part time vets for coming in and using their name to take spotlight from full timers who were working hard, he went to the UFC and stepped over a plethora of guys who'd been working hard on the amateur circuit for years and years, just for the chance at a UFC contract. He used his name and fame to get a contract off of two, TWO years of training (Nothing in fighting. Many train for that long before even getting their first amateur match). And then he embarrassed himself and lost to guys who, while they could probably take out the vast majority of commenters here including myself, were the UFC equivalent of jobbers. Then, he went away and didn't come back until AEW was willing to make him their highest paid guy. Now, he has the pressure of trying to carry the company and he can't, because he can't be anti-establishment since he's been given everything he wanted.

Definitely! It might be the promo of the year...and it will be cemented as one of the best promos of all-time!
