I own this car, a 2003 Coupe, and it's as old as I am. My dad bought it for himself and then realized he was too tall and too big for it, so he handed it over to my tiny self. I adore it. Named it Otto-it's black with silver interior and I've never seen another one on the road. I drive to my university twice a week and it's always been a wonderful ride. Can't believe this is my first car! I'm very lucky.

Owned one for 2 years now. Bought it for my collection and hardly ever drive it. Standard 1.8T. 180hp. Base of the base. Still everyone I know loves it and asks to drive it. When I do pick it up it just feels special and yes it does turn heads. Plenty. Not everything is about speed or handling. I drive pretty slow. Its about the joy I get from owning it, the design, the innovation it brought on back in the day. When you pick up a 50 year old $200.000 Jag-e, you dont expect it to be super fast, comfortable or precise, no. You do it for the above. And thats why the TT will have its place as a proper classic.

I own a 2003 TT 225 Quattro, apart from a slightly noisy outer near side cv joint and 263 thousand miles on the clock! It’s mint! Does everything it did when it had 30k on it, best £850 i have ever spent 👍🏻

I spent £900 for my 2001 225 QUATTRO with 160thousand miles. I got rid of a 17 plate st3 for it. Best decision I ever made 👍

I've always thought the TT would be a future classic. We are currently in that stage where they appear dated compared to modern car styling. It will be another 10 or so years before dated becomes retro and from there on to classic.
@tnetroP
@tnetroP 5 лет назад
This is true. But the problem is likely to be that petrol cars may be priced off the road before it attains true classic status. Personally I love the TT and had two when they were new. I am now looking for one for fun.

Hi. Bought my first TT 2003. Quattro 225hp Goodwood metallic green. Commuted to work 3 years to work 50 miles on way. 140 000kms later I sold it to a lady who added another 40 000kms on the clock over a 9 year period. I then bought back my wee TT. I chipped the engine after 30 000km to 265hp. The only repairs have been headlights that filled with condensation and a wiper motor. The disc brakes and shocks plus coil springs have been renewed too. Resprayed the car by a real pro still the original Goodwood green. I had a 3.2 mk2 TT with DSG . . 2010. No fun at all. Then 2012 I bought a TTS with DSG too . . Better than 3.2 but still no match for the MK1. My Mk1 has recently received new instrument cluster, Audi Concert CD and all interior switches renewed. One of finest cars I have owned, and this includes Porsche Boxster S 2006. Hope the car does become classic.

I recall getting pulled over by police in Hamilton during a snow storm. The officer asked me why I was driving so fast? I told him I wasn't speeding. My car was equipped with 4 winter tires. He told me to slow down then followed me for several kilometres until I entered the highway. That Mk 1 TT 225 HP was a great 12 month car when equipped with the correct tires.

I own an 05 TT and it still turns heads and gets compliments, fantastic design from a 'timeless' perspective and with classics the driving experience is always going to be a bit 'less' than the newest thing anyway. People classics to be at peak performance, they buy them to have fun, and that to me is what the TT delivers, fun.

I've had a mk1 for 9 years and loved it but it's becoming too expensive to keep on the road.. every MOT costs me a fortune despite only doing 3000 miles a year. I have a engine oil leak, Gearbox leak, alternator might be going, turbo is on it's way out, wheel arches are bubbling, instrument cluster is finished, underside is rotting away.. its gonna cost too much to fix.. I've purchased a 2012 TT and will put the MK1 off the road and do it up bit by bit when I can.. I'll miss it but I'm looking forward to getting my MK2

Theres too many produced. Unless it's this one the sport. Also far too many things go wrong with it. Taking the whole front of the car off to change the front nearside bulb...yes..that's stupid German engineering for you. Looks are great but its hugely flawed.

Furthermore a lot of prob : rust, coils, sensors, lcd screen,... bof bof it is a golf. Now I have the Tt mk2 200 tfsi and this is much beautiful than the one with less probs.
