It’s the right decision. If the project doesn’t get your juices flowing then you can’t get the passion and that’ll come through in the content. Scrap the shell, hold onto the chassis and save it for a proper bug build.

My lads are cheering, Dan!😄 One thing I would like to say to you. You tube is generally awash with guys doing car stuff. There are many different ones I’ve watched and a few I subscribe to and continue to follow. For me, the content is important, but realistically there will always be some builds that don’t appeal to everyone, or you yourself fall out of love with, or find big problems with. I think your channel has grown a lot (particularly from the dub community) but also from a wider group, because of you. Your honesty about projects, presentation style and actual content are what have brought you to this point. Keep doing what you are doing, make mistakes, learn and continue to grow. I’m in for the long haul and inevitable turbo’d Sinclair C5 about to appear on our screens🤞😉🤣❤

If I'm being I honest it wasnt a project I was interested in so I just would have watched to support the channel, haha. Better for me and better for you that its moving on.

Probably the logical decision. I love the channel and all you have achieved. Having seen what you went through with the mk1 i had a feeling this wasnt going to be built. Nice idea at the time and for a freebie you can never complain. Still loving the channel and was down your way the not so long ago. Think i saw your golf on the a426 at a roadside cafe.

I have been waiting for you to do a grand comeback since you are truly one of the best car channels on youtube, internationaly. Its good to see that you left that ugly rusty thing behind, often projects like that where you are not feeling it drag on for way to long and take the will from you to actually get moving! Hey Dan. Glad to hear you're moving on from the Mk2. From a spectator's viewpoint it's clear when your heart isn't in it. If it was meant to be there would have been more progress. Don't spend too long dwelling on what we think, and you don't need to apologise.We're following the channel because of you. The projects will come and go. I'm looking forward to seeing things take off in the new workshop. I'd like to see how the house is doing on your other channel, but also understand if showing your home space is over-sharing.

Probably for the best, always seemed a weird idea if I’m honest. Put it on a TT or performance chassis yeah but nahhh. V8 stealth beetle yeahhhhh

@Danchambers was looking forward to this one. I totally understand your reason for it. I had some o golf 2's and that are sadly the weak points that they rot. But like most people say new shop new start with other amazing projects 💪💪💪💪

Plenty of very good reasons to not proceed with this build. As ever no need to justify anything you do, Dan. Regards DVSA etc obviously there are concerns regards ‘Special Projects’ on the roads mainly around build quality, noise and emissions I would wager. That is pretty normal for them. There are plenty of U.K. based ‘specials’ being built whilst the DVSA/DVLA may not like them at present there no legislation preventing these cars from being built… so long as they comply with inspection standards etc As ever Dan, you are pushing forwards and being an inspiration to many would be and experienced ‘car nuts’.. Keep at it.

I think you made the right decision Dan, that would have been a huge and very costly project with no guarantee it would ever be allowed on the road. Anyone on here that truly knows you would understand that you didn't make the decision lightly so huge respect for you bud👏👍 The money you would have put into the Golf/Beetle chassis project can now go to something better👍

Right decision mate, I couldn't see that being great content myself.. stick with the builds you enjoy otherwise they take over your life and become a drain on your mental health! I'm at this stage with my transit but I'm so far in and got so many people telling me not to bother that I'm now finishing it to piss them off. Get the workshop done and crack on with an epic build👍👍

Its a shame, I remember seeing the van when it was still on the road but you are right its bad, even by my standards. Keep the Beetle parts ad you can always revisit another day, may be a Mk4 body instead.
