This video has some of the most animated MLB manager ejections in recent memory. Note I said managers not player ejections. Featuring Lloyd McClendon, Charlie Manuel, Joe Girardi, Lou Pinella, and more.
You should go look at some videos of Earl Weaver being ejected I think that might change your mind When it comes to the greatest manager ejections of all time
I've said it a while and I continue to keep saying. The exchange between Terry Colins and Tom Hallion; that video needs to be required viewing to any wannabe MLB umpire on how to handle an escalated situation like this. Hallion handled it cool when Colins was on his profanity-laced tirade. Would any of you handle it any better than Hallion? I know I wouldn't.
Earl Weaver and an umpire (can't remember his name) were wired one game and got ejected over a call at the plate and went on a profanity fuled rant accusing the umpire of putting his finger on him.
Same here. I've been watching baseball since the late 80's and kind of stopped watching these past few years.... I'd start watching again if this was more common.
The argument between the terry guy and tommy is for some reason wholesome to me… Clearly both are very good friends on a personal level and watching tommy run over to throw the other two sharks away from terry who was clearly on a rampage was admirable! tommy knew exactly how to handle terry and didn’t want to see him get ejected or tuned up. Lastly, terry turning around and sayin “YOUR BETTER THAN THAT TOMMY” was when i knew they both respect each other.
He "kept his cool" because he knew it was the wrong call to throw Syndergaard out. Who ever heard of an ump throwing a (top) pitcher out in the first inning for a pitch that went behind a batter (but didn't even hit him) without a warning first?? I believe that ump didn't agree with the call, but understandably he has to back up the HP ump's decision.
@@alltheDCteams Nah man. The umpires get a briefing from MLB before games like this. They were almost certainly told to have zero tolerance for this by the league before the game. This was the first game they had after Chase Utley broke their SS leg in the playoffs the previous year. They threw at him the first chance they got and the league probably told the umpire it would happen and to respond with an ejection.
Man that one ump, being called everything in the book and saying, "Ok, did you get it all out?" THAT'S a man's man . Too many of the new guys run a guy after 10 seconds of arguing.
Damn that’s some extremely good audio equipment to pick up the whole conversation between the ump and the mets coach wow get this equipment in every stadium.
I totally agree, we need more umpires like Tom Hallion, he's one of the good umpires that knows the game. He and Larry Vanover. 👍🏻Greg Gibson is pretty good too👍🏻
1:58 "Our asses are in the jackpot if we don't do something..." As they should be considering they violently screwed up the previous game to get to this point. They seemed to do everything the opposite of how it should have gone on that play. (The Utley slide)
In case you guys aren’t familiar with “the situation”, it’s in reference to Chase Utley’s hard slide against Rubin Tejhada in the NLCS the previous year and in their next regular season meeting, Noah Syndeggard retaliated against Utley and threw behind him.
That call on Rollins around the 730 mark was horseshit. He pulled an amazingly athletic move, stayed in the baseline and didn't get tagged. Safe as could be
My only beef is the strike 3 call was right down the middle. I would be more upset with Cabrera taking that pitch on 3 and 2 in a tie game. Make an effort to at least try and foul it off. Thats poor situational hitting.
Sorry, but the second strike call (the strikeout pitch) to Cabrera was a CLEAR strike. And a brilliant pitch. He knew Cabrera’s argument was with the height, not whether it was outside. So bring it right back, a liiiiiittle further over the plate. He knew that wasn’t gonna go over well hahaha
Lou's were always entertaining to watch. Not a fan of any of the team's he managed in his career, but, when it came time to argue, nobody did it better! But a personal favorite of mine has got to be Lloyd McClendon's ejection from the Yankees vs. Mariners game. To throw and kick his hat, and get in the faces of all the umpires... Absolutely hilarious! "Getting his money's worth times ten!" LOL! Great compilation! 👍
It's too bad the only video we have of him blowing up is the Cubs game. Granted, that was a good one. But he had some epic blowups on the umps while managing the Mariners.
I miss the old school kicking dirt and stealing bases, etc. its fun seeing a few guys who will still do it. It used to be the norm when I was a kid for the manager umpire fights it was a great part of the show.
davidca96 with the new challenge rule in place, it gives umps the chance to make the right calls in the game so the only times managers get to freak out these days are over balls and strikes and hit by pitches
Earl Weaver was wired during a game in the 1980 and got ejected over a play at the plate and went on a profanity fuel rant accusing the Umpire of putting his finger on him. Earl told the Umpire he would be in the Hall of Fame one day and the Umpire asked him for what f---ing up the 79 World Series? Earl came out three times to yell at him.
From that exchange: Earl: "I've won more than I lost" (World Series) Umpire: (think it was Bill Haller) "No you haven't!" Earl: "I mean games!" Wrong, Earl 1969: Lost to Mets 4 games to 1 1970: Beat Reds 4 games to 1 1971: Lost to Pirates 4 games to 3 1979: Lost to Pirates (again) 4 games to 3 Total w/l record in WS: 11-13. Oh well, Earl isn't in the HOF for his mathematical skills (or lack thereof) :)
@@transitfan954Earl was talking about his overall managerial record, which both at that point in ’80 and at the end of his career, he was right about. He had won more than he lost. He managed 2,540 games, going 1480-1060, or .583. Those who live in mathematically inaccurate houses should not cast the first digit.
Rachel Snagg Case in point with the Canada Day game in 2016 in Toronto where he tossed half the team. I think Carapazza should be banned from umpiring games in Toronto at the very least.
I do have to say the ump in the second clip did a good job in trying to calm everyone down. Mind you the ruling of the other umpire was the wrong call. But a good job from the other one defusing the situation.
Can someone explain to me what was the entire issue with the Terry clip? It seems like it was more than just the pitcher throwing the ball way off base.
Really surprised to not see Earl Weaver or Bobby Cox. You had some meh ones in there but missed out on the two legendary? Other than that not a bad list.
Both pitches to Asrtrubal Cabrera in the 1st video are strikes. It’s the 10th inning getting late and the Nats skipper is just having his players back, the umpire is correct on both calls but as a skipper you have to fight for your guys. At the end of the day everyone knows when they watch the film those were 2 strikes on the 3-1 count and as a batter with 2 strikes you have to fight off a close pitch . Cabrera , the umpire, reds skip and everyone in the stadium knows that but that’s a good coach putting his ass on the line going to bay for his players. He argued knowing he’s wrong to have his players back. I love baseball. Everybody is right in there own situation.
