It seems that officials in all American sports are starting to believe that the fans are there to see them though. The amount of fouls and shit calls going on is ridiculous and they want their tv time. Remember that idiot Ed Hoculee? Im sure thats spelled wrong but he was the NFL ref that was ripped like a body builder.
When an ump goes after the pitcher like they did Lester, they need to be called to the office and given a few days off to cool off. The best ump is an unseen ump. But they have to be the center of attention way too often, imo.
Nah when an umpire does what they did there he needs to be fucking fired. What a joke the two umps were who charged the mound because of their own incompetent calls. These sports leagues really need to start holding their officials accountable.
Sharpshoot712 i can tell you just want attention because you’ve been in every single section disagreeing. Go get friends so you dont have to crave attention over the internet and get it from actual people
I feel like most MLB umpires are guys that felt like they could have made it but didn't and are now get there revenge on the people that were better then them and deserve to actually be there
it's called a game protest ... and can be filed during a game but is reviewed after a game ... the UMP IS ON CHARGE ... dont like how he calls it protest it properly ... mouth off the rule says eject from game for un sportsmanlike conduct and disrespecting the ump ... they broke the rule they got their over paid asses ejected ... plain and simple ... DO NOT MOUTH OFF TO AN UMP ... he is the BOSS ... NOT YOU
@@0623kaboom just cause they are an authority figure doesn’t mean they can’t be wrong to. When authority figures act wrongly they should be punished by their higher ups just as players should. That’s like saying no matter what a teacher does to a child they shouldn’t be fired.
@@whywhy3289 Actually it's nothing like a teacher-child interaction. Both parties here are adults and one isn't responsible for the welfare of the other. But anyway, yes, of course umpires can be wrong. That's not the point. Right or wrong, you don't argue balls and strikes. It's one of the most sacrosanct rules in baseball. You just don't do it -- and if you do, the ump has every right to eject you. As for your other point, I agree that umpires should be held accountable for their actions. And they are. The league can and does punish umpires for inappropriate actions on the field -- usually by means of a suspension for a certain number of weeks or months. It doesn't happen often, but it can and does happen. As for protesting ball games, as Mark says, that recourse was done away with this year. It's not a huge loss, though. Since 1910, more than 175,000 Major League games have been played. The number of games protested in that time? 15.
@@0623kaboom umps aren’t the bosses of the fields they just make calls. That cal was ridiculous and the ump went on a power trip thinking the fans admire him and came to see him not the players
It’s crazy how the catcher really does stand up alright you not gonna talk to my pitcher and stands right in its face that’s true brotherhood right there💯
The Braves have had some of the Best catchers come that organization. I love seeing teammates take for one another. Thats what the world needs, we are all "teammates"! We are ALL in this together ❤!
Bryson Strickland. Great idea. I am confused about the strike zone sometimes. One thing we all, players and fans, has a right to expect is steady rules.
I umpire high school. That slightly high, slightly outside pitch that got Flowers tossed is really tough to call a strike on. It’s the positioning in the slot that makes it tough to call.
At the very least the rules need changing. *If an Umpire or official charges towards a player and or antagonizes a player they Shall be fined and suspended without compensation for 3 games. Charging to include; stepping out from behind the batters box, pointing fingers, walking passed either Foul Line toward or into the field of play to antagonize or continue an argument started by the official or umpire* Feel free to add better language
There is no reason for an official in any sport to escalate a situation. Part of your job is putting up with players jawing at you, and part of your training should have been to learn how to ignore it.
Oh yeah u see catcher really givin it to em when they running home 😂😂😂 really lower that shoulder😂😂😂 if u wanna see someone protecting something watch football 😂😂
Always loved AJ Ellis for standing up for Kersh. Ump may have been right to stop the pitch but he didn’t have to yell or take a step out towards him. Ellis knew it, too.
That's so true. I only ever played in some 'rec' leagues, but when my catcher would argue the call for me it made me feel great. Especially since they know even better than pitchers if the ball was strike or a ball
when your boss at work calls you names do you take it or do you mouth off back at him ... same in the game of Baseball .. the UMP IS IN CHARGE ... back talk an ump get your over paid ass tossed ... it is the way it will be from now on ... no more million dollar self important rich baby is going to dictate the game to an ump ... the ump calls it as he sees fit ... you dont like it protest the call .... mouth off to the ump ... you wont be playing the game the rest of the night cuz your ass is getting tossed ... it is THAT SIMPLE ...
Normally I get annoyed at batters arguing strikes cause it leads to ejections but when you have catchers calling you out (umpires). You know it’s time to admit your f***ing up. Even if it’s just to yourself blue.
Catchers have an interesting relationship with the home plate umpire. They are essentially protecting the umpire who is right behind 90+ MPH fastballs. Usually catchers will have a longer leash with Blue.
3:20 he should be banned from the league permanently. Martin just looks at him and he throws him out RIGHT AFTER Stroman. Martin didn’t say anything just looked at him and he’s gone. These umpires think they have the most power in the world and think they’re untouchable. What a disgrace to the game.
Looks like he says “seriously” but I agree. Absolute disgrace to the game for that. In football it’s passion. In basketball it’s passion. In baseball it’s arguing and poor sportsmanship according to these umps.
All that happened there was Stroman was just getting frustrated (he's a hot head let's be honest) the ump thought he said something to him so out goes Stro, Martin calls BS, out goes Martin. A few pitches earlier Gibbons got tossed. Wasnt long after that another umpire starts mouthing off at J.A. Happ on a blown call and there was a great shot of Martin just glaring at him. The umps clearly had something against the jays in 2017.
I played baseball as a little kid and didn’t really watch it until adulthood. I’m addicted now and really can appreciate these men’s athleticism and quick decision making. I’ve been sleeping on baseball, I don’t even watch other sports besides Olympic t&f
Some of these umps should have been fired. Tossing pitchers out just to diverge from the fact that they are making horrible calls. You are paid to do one thing and when you fail at it you dare to fk up the game for all the players and fans by randomly throwing ppl out
sadly the babies called players are spoiled rich kids who think they run the game ... now they are learning the 30k slaried ump is the guy in charge ... mouth off to him your out of the game ... no more rich babies mouthing off to the boss no more BS from overpaid sports player ... ump are playing to the rules ... you dont like his calls protest the calls properly ... mouth off to the boss he fires your ass out of the game ... welcome to real life ...
0623kaboom if your boss fired you for questioning them, thats not a boss that’s a tyrant. You’re mentality is what’s wrong with the work force now a days. You’d rather keep your head down and not question a thing than fight for what’s right. Tell me your submissive without saying your submissive. Maybe they nos should grab their balls from their wife’s purse and not be offended someone didn’t agree with them. When the other teams announcers have to admit you’re going on a power trip, you know you’re in the wrong. These guys have been working on their craft and earned every dollar, maybe find a job and contribute as much as s they do and you’ll be paid the same. Their value is worth more than yours, they bring in millions in merchandise and saws. You bring in single digits for your employer, 2 different worlds
Ever since MLB implemented it's policy of being ejected for arguing balls and strikes many umpires have developed a chip on their shoulder. They instigate arguments with players and immediately throw them out if they say anything at all. Remember the good old days of Billy Martin, Earl Weaver, Lou Piniella, etc.?
I wonder if they are ejecting the players because they got a bet on the game or they repaid off. It happened In Basketball. It's not hard to believe. I would like the ump to charge Nolan Ryan, hell get his jaw jacked.
I got my first taste of Russel Martin on the Yankees and he is exactly the kinda teammate you want in your corner. I knew he'd be in several of these videos.
I like Sniteker's reaction after Flowers finally walks away in the first clip.... just kinda shrugs with a smirk like "idk, you know these kids are these days" lololz
I just don't think that umpires should have such empirical powers as that. There needs to be some sort of recourse to have your side heard. That is just too dictatorial. There are always 2 sides to each story.
@@BobTheFrog92Gaming No, I agree it is not that deep. And I think the athletes are childish. But just think if you had been wronged how you would feel if someone was a dictator over you and you had no recourse. It might keep some of the fighting down.
The point of the ump is to be professional and unbiased, with total knowledge in the field. Making them ideal for making the call. Games are long and boring as is do they rly need to debate everything on the spot? 10 hours for one game? Nty.
@@salvest3rr I agree, they are SUPPOSED to be professional and unbiased. But when you watch this it is extremely plain to see that he made the call because he was ticked off and not because of the infraction. Men are fallible and make mistakes. This guy was wrong and should be made to account for it.
The umpires have some grand union. This is what you see when unions have their pull and running amok over other collective associations. When the current World umpires association superseded the previous one in 2000, that's when this mess really started happening. Many of the previous MLB umpires lost their job prior to that year as a part of a collective bargaining agreement strategy that backfired, and now we see a new regime that just totally blows.
Its a tenuous relationship between ump and pitcher...he can give you all the borderlines and beyond or give you nothing but center of the plate...pretty insane and I'm sure many a bet has been won based on how the umps "seeing" the zone that day
