No. He’s not even like Ruth. When Ruth played, guys pitched snd hit, if they could. Ohtani has done this after over 100 years of kids to pros, just not doing both. A great pitcher, is almost always kept a pitcher, simply giving up wasting time hitting, even before the DH rule. Ruth did it Pre-integration, and at a time when he was simply ahead of his time. Home Runs weren’t even a highly valued stat yet. If Ohtani could pitch and hit, at even a average level, for a few more seasons, it will be something never seen again, in anyone Alice’s lifetime. No one who saw Ruth, or lived at that time, is still alive. That is a unique talent.
In the All Star press conference Dusty Baker said of Shohei Ohtani: He’s the most talented player I’ve ever seen in baseball. That's coming from Dusty Baker who grew up watching Willie Mays, has played with Hank Aaron and managed Barry Bonds. That’s quite the statement by Dusty who knows the game better then anyone. Shohei is the Unicorn and can be the Goat 🐐
It's really amazing how they, MLB heroes are talking about Shohei. In Japan before going to the USA, Shohei was repeatedly criticized by famous Japanese baseball players and critics. They all said Shohei must give up 2-way player. They all didn't think it possible. But now he is an MLB star with such compliments. I'm so glad that he is loved now in the USA after all the hard training. Big Papi's comment really impressed me.
@@mikes7446 Bonds was a great player before steroids, offensively 1989-97 he was like Ohtani with power and speed, I marveled at him especially when he was a Pittsburgh Pirate.
@@mikes7446 Steroids doesn't matter. Every power hitter used it in that time and Bonds' numbers were way ahead of those users. It shows he was a top hitter in the steroid era. He also was like Acuna Jr before steroids. Bonds and Ichiro has the best batting technique in basball history. Bonds has the best power hitting swing, Ichiro has the best contact hitting swing.
Having this Fox Crew would be a nice mix. They should do something new like let you choose what broadcaster voices you want to hear or having different broadcasters for Home and Away games. They need to change up something cuz it gets old really quick here the same commentary over and over.
@@mao5787 Oh it's happening. Shohei has seen the Angels waste Trout's entire career. He's not about to make the same mistake when he can go to a bigger market, have a better chance at winning a World Series, and make more money.
The Angels are, unfortunately, saddled with a couple of awful, egregious contracts right now with Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon. There's no way they can afford Shohei Ohtani, who will receive a king's ransom from some team.
