MLB needs to do some investigations into these umpires by following the money trail. If an ump tosses a guy out for nothing, he is changing the potential outcome of a game.
The umpires are on a big power trip and don’t like anybody telling them that they are wrong or not even look at them damn they are very delicate now a days damn.
I've said this for years ! They need to be held publically accountable. Print their stats DAILY in the sports section just like the players ! And it's not just MLB Umpires. My nephew was quite a prospect in HS last season. I coached him for years and attended almost all of his games last season....I'm behind the plate at one of his games. bear in mind I Umpired HS Baseball for extra $$$ in College so I KNOW my shit. Anyway, there's nobody on and my nephew hits one into the RCF gap, he's stretching it into a Triple ( now since there's no play at the plate and only 2 Umpires, it's the Home Plate Ump's responsibility to run up the 3rd base line to get the best angle on the play ) the throw beat my nephew to the bag but it was off line, the 3rd baseman reached and tried to sweep tag him...but missed by a foot and a half ! The Home Plate Ump still FIRMLY PLANTED BEHIND THE PLATE...CALLED HIM OUT ! I didn't curse him, I didn't yell, I didn't question his vision...I simply said "You blew that call blue, the 3rd baseman never got the tag on him !" He "mean mugged me and said "You wanna get thrown out ? " And I answered "You can't throw out a FAN, this is a PUBLIC PARK !" Who the hell do you think you are ? The MAYOR ?" Anyway, he lept "mean muggin" me and I "mean mugged him right back...and it got eerily silent like in the old westerns when the gunfighters had a "showdown" about that time he said " You better sit down if you don't wanna get run !" And I remembered a line from "Tombstone". I mean mugged him and said "You gonna pull that smokewagon boy ? Or are you just gonna stand there and bleed" ? The stands roared with laughter...and that enraged him...and a HS umpire at a PUBLIC park, threw me ( a FAN ) out of the game by threatening to make my nephew's team forfeit if I didn't leave ! What a pussy ! After he threw me out I went off on him. I told him "I used to Umpire and if you can't take what I said you thin - skinned pussy you should find another line of work ! And if your fat , lazy ass had moved from behind the plate and up the line like you're supposed to you wouldn't have missed the call bitch !" And with that, I left.
@@davidyoung3994 It'll never happen...for one just like the NFL they WANT the controversy...people are STILL talking about the horseshit call in the Cowboys - Lions game last season. Number two, ALL sports are partnered with Sportsbooks...if they go electronic there's no way to fix games anymore, It's not a coincidence that the decline of officiating has coincided with pro ( and college ) sports partnering with sportsbooks ! This could have been solved YEARS ago while keeping the human element. Why are nearly all Umpires and Referees old and decrepit ? I lived in Vegas for several years and on an NFL Sunday when I had a grand riding on a "Hail Mary" nothing gave me more confidence that they'd get the call right than seeing MY WR running 60 yds. downfield at a 4.3 Forty pace, being covered by a CB running at a 4.2 Forty pace....and the call is gonna be made by Ed...the 68 year old, asthmatic, retired Insurance Executive ! Literally THOUSANDS of ATHLETES are cut every year in each sport...hire them ! Train them ! Make them Full - Time ! Pay them well ! Give them great benefits...and above all HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE ! Then this bullshit will stop !
Dear MLB umpires. Have you seen an NFL game? While those officials get things wrong. They at least accept criticism. You mlb umpires are the biggest babies
It's amazing that umpires have the ability to throw anyone out of the game when they are called out on their own inept performance. Instead of coming out and yelling at the ump, the managers should pack up their team and walk away. I bet all it takes is once or twice of leaving all those fans hanging due to the umps' ego before the league actually does something to fix the problem.
all you have to do is give someone, anyone, just a little authority and watch as their ego's take over. It's not just umpires, it happens in every profession.
I literally stopped watching baseball because of the umpires. Fans pay good money to see the players.. not the umps. Their egos are pathetic and because of their union, baseball has their hands tied. Angel Hernandez is a perfect example. I literally quit watching
@@chiefskingdom4151Reminder : your god and cult leader trump LOST the last presidential election and is in deep trouble legally and financiallly 😂😂😂😂😂
As a former umpire myself, I’d have to say these MLB guys need thicker skin than that. Sure, you’re going to catch a certain amount of flak from players and coaches, but these players did nothing egregious enough to warrant getting run from the game. You NEVER walk toward a player or bait them the way some of these umpires did in these clips. Just let them vent a little , don’t even look at them as they walk to the dugout and let it slide
I know I speak for all baseball fans we never want to see our favorite players or the manager of our team thrown out of the game because somebody's feelings got hurt, namely the home plate tyrant, this just should never have happened, makes me not want to watch the game anymore
It’s the rule. You are not allowed to argue balls/strikes, automatic ejection. It’s not a matter of feelings hurt on the part of the umpire, it’s following and enforcing the rule. They want to stay in the game, then they need to remember the easiest rule and walk away, go back to the dugout and get it next time.
U r dumb. Some Homeplate umpires are already doing it. They have earpiece from technology telling them balls and strikes and is still not always accurate
Technology is far from perfect yet, and don’t say “but we have the graphic on screen” cause that box is a load of crap. It does not accurately change with batters stature to reflect where the zone should be nor does it reflect that the zone is 3-dimensional. They have been testing out a system in the minors that allows for challenging a pitch, but not to the point where you could put it in charge. MLB had Atlantic League test out a system and you still had guys being thrown out by the umpire making the call cause the computer was calling strikes right down the middle as balls. But it’s so perfect cause it’s techie right? lol
Once the umpire takes a step towards the mound like that, sign of aggression and the pitcher can react as though umpire is charging mound. Name me the commissioner and that will be a BYLAW
This is why viewership of MLB is down. Too much 'F'ing drama with men. Umpires need to call a straight game. I have always wished we had umpires who were as qualified as the players!
32 yr vet. I can count my ejections on both hands and feet. Most ejections happen when an ump knows he made a mistake and he's just tired of hearing about it. Thick skin and diplomacy. I've NEVER called a perfect game, and I've never been afraid to admit when I was wrong or may have had a bad angle. And 4 of my ejections were the same coach from a D2 school, the last one coming at the plate meeting.
This is where the MLB meets the WWE. Let's not forget when the ref was knocked out and Jake the Snake went under the ring and retrieved the snake. MLB has become almost as absurd.
Some people are good at their job and some are not good at their profession. It is a shame and it's ugly when umpires inject their egos into the game, when their immature childish behavior can and does influence, wrongly, an outcome of a game. I do not want to see that ! I do not want to see that at all !!!!!
If an umpire makes an aggresive move towards a pitcher, that umpire should be removed from the game and replaced with a backup. The umpire doesn't get to start an argument and then eject the player who responds.
New rules, if the ump walks toward u or runs to u it’s just like a player and fight on. Tired of these umps with their bad calls and sensitive attitudes.
@@marcparkinson4118It is rarely a good thing when an official gets tagged with a nickname because of their unique interpretation of a rule, and Davidson was known as "Balkin' Bob." Ironically, he resigned as an umpire in 1999 and MLB took him back a few years later. Davidson is one of several umpires who demonstrate how difficult it is to remove an umpire who has reached full-time MLB status. The good news is that he retired in 2016.
1. Don’t argue balls and strikes, automatic ejection. Why baseball is many decades old and players/coaches still don’t get that through their skulls I have zero idea. It’s the simplest thing. 2. He had valid reasons for the two times I know he ejected a fan. The first time was the guy was directly behind home plate and was being extraordinarily loud and obnoxious to the opposing team and to the umpires to the point where both batter and catcher commented multiple times and had had enough, requested Bob have him removed. He obliged. The other situation was the fan was being extremely crass and inappropriate, throwing around very sexually charged comments, there were families in the area and he thought of his grandkids, how no family should be subjected to it. Especially since the fan was many rows away where it takes a lot to be yelling where someone on the field can hear you. Once again, since Umpires are in charge from first pitch to final out, he went and had security remove the guy. Praised both times for his reaction and integrity.
@@nateward9592The problem with being ejected for arguing balls and strikes is that the rule is too strict to be enforceable, and each umpire decides when enough is enough.
MLB umps and NHL refs have gotten so bad and out of control. They think the game is all about them. Nobody is watching the game to see the official..The teams need to make a stand and as a group walk off the field/rink. Of course the league office will fine them and they’ll catch a loss but it will send the message..
After over 60 years i finally had to let it go , Overpaid crybabies , inept umpiring , disgraceful fan behavior , It stopped being a display of sportsmanship and certainly not something i want my Children and Grandchildren watching and emulating
Umpires are out of control, and the ability to throw someone out of a game for any reason the Umpoire wants to has to end. There are real reasons to throw someone out of a game, but hurting the Ump's feelings should not be one of them.
Do we really even need umpires any more? I mean, it's hard not to think that these guys aren't betting on the games that they're screwing up the calls on, when they get that bent out of shape and use any little thing to toss someone out of the park.
Umpires can literally eject a player for no reason by saying, "I heard him say....blah, blah, blah." It doesn't even have to be true. Someone in the stands or dugout could have yelled something, but he thinks it's THAT guy, so he tosses him. MLB rules pretty much say once a guy is tossed he can't be "un tossed". That needs to change.
Fans need to send a clear message to MLB The next time one of these rogue umpires puts themselves above the game and the teams on the field, every fan needs to get up and walk out of the stadium demanding their money back or they will never return to the ballpark When this starts to affect MLB ownership in their wallets, then they might finally do something to fix the problem
ortiz gets a borderline strike called as he steps backwards, not entire out of the box.... before the pitch was even thrown, and its the ump show? lol no.
lol and then ortiz swings at a pitch nearly in the dirt, gets upset... for... some reason that im sure is reasonable (it isnt).. yeah this ones on the ump guys... wtf are you smoking
I've said I before I'll say it again .. umpires need Tobe heald accountable just like the players. Umpires get away with to much shit with 0 consequences. What they gonna do when they los3 their job to a robot.
Eventually, Umpires will be replaced by electronic surveillance. They are already redundant, just Nostalgia keeps them in the game. With multi-million dollar Corporations' profits on the line (sports-betting, too) - 'going upstairs' for video review will become but a memory... Play Ball!
I've always wondered what would happen if a major league manager just took his team off the field. Tell the umpire they forfeit and see you tomorrow. Maybe MLB would get the hint their blues stink and do something about it.
MLB has to look at ejections bein reviewable, this is getting rediculous. When an ump RUSHES THE MOUND SCREAMING like a hit batter, trying to get an ejectable pitcher reaction, the ump has to go.
It is an epidemic seemingly in all sports. The player, or the coach, does something wrong? The fines and suspensions are swift, and public. The officials do something wrong? Aside from one or two rare cases, crickets. They have made the officials untouchable. So, there is nothing to curtail this behavior.
We don''t have baseball in my country, but we do have fast-pitch softball - things like strike zones and what counts or does not count as a swing are essentially the same. In all honesty, some of the umpires I see in MLB would not even be up to umpiring a schoolboy softball match in this country. Some of the decisions in this video are absolute shockers! It really is time some teams just said "f*&% you" and the whole team walks off.
Umpires should have to spend a game as a college football line judge with Nick Saban in their ear for four quarters. You can't umpire another MLB game unless you make it to the end without throwing a flag. How many umps could make it?
Maybe AI and Robo-Umps will be replacing them in the near future. Then we can just watch skills and talents of these athletes without bias. With AI and robo-umps, will it be enjoyable and entertaining to watch if there be no more games, champions, stats, etc blemished by human error?
