“You don’t want players touching you, than you should not be touching players” THANK YOU🙏👏👏👏 the one logical commentator. Everyone else just blasts the players
@@jetwestbrookand yet he is still being paid by MLB. You do get that they do not have to have him as an umpire. He is obviously doing something correct. If he is as bad as everyone whining about him thinks, MLB would have gotten rid of him despite the union trying to protect him....
The don't-touch-the-ump rule is a good one. Most pro sports have a similar rule. You want players thinking "I can't touch the umpire no matter how mad I get." I saw one NHL game where the ref had a concussion and grabbed a player for support. The player looked legit scared and raised his hands in the air to show he wasn't touching the ref.
@JET MECH No it's actually a fair question. Obviously we all know you can't touch an umpire, but if you expect not to be touched, then don't initiate contact with a player.
@JET MECH control the game, not touch a player. He can vocalize and have the managers of the teams put hands on the player. umpires have been fined/suspended for crossing the line before. Example is Brian Runge. Suspended for 1 game and fined for bumping then Mets manager. Dummy
LoDuca operated mostly on steroids during his playing days. Can see it in his crazy eyes. He was one of the reasons that MLB has strict rules and suspensions for banned substances.
i never realized how funny it was when brett lawrie just spiked his helmet directly at the umpire 😂 you know that dude had some serious anger issues cause of that
@@frankcastle9691 I don't know about roids, but Lawrie was always a hot head with a huge ego. He did mellow out a little after this incident and the 4 game suspension he served.
La russa is insane, its clear he doesn’t care about his players. Craps on mercedes for ballin in a blowout, pretends abreu didnt just get drilled upstairs and instead proceeds to go after the other team’s catcher, and now he wanna let tim anderson chew an ump out when the other 29 managers in baseball would have held their player back and stepped in to have words with the ump themselves. La russa is outdated man
He kept pushing the manager (Valentine) into the ump. The unp knew what Rojas was doing. They weren’t going to be disciplined for pushing his teammate into the ump.
The announcers in the Twins/Tigers clip are correct. Umpires cannot touch a player and then eject when a the player reciprocates. Also, it’s not like Magglio Ordoñez did it with malice. He was justified, and I forget if he appealed any fine and/or suspension but if he did, all of it should have been overturned and that umpire’s conduct investigated.
Agree and disagree. Yes, the umpire manual prohibits physical conduct: "MLB Umpires should not initiate physical contact with players, coaches, or managers." But acting in any sort of aggressive manner towards an umpire is grounds for penalty at the discretion of the umpire and his crew. If you do something aggressive and end up making contact with an ump, I don't feel sorry for you. It's not like a catcher backing into an ump to catch a fly ball (which generally isn't penalized).
If you need to by physically restrained, yea, they can grab you around the neck. And they should. You're a grown man who can't handle authority.

Think about it for a second. 99.99% of contact you will see initiated by an umpire is done as a restraint. They are restraining a player for whatever reason. The odd time (see the Leland clip) the ump is in the wrong and should be fined. Every time there is contact initiated by the player it is done in an aggressive "attacking" manner. Those are the ones that get tossed and fined. Just because a player makes contact with an umpire does not mean he gets tossed. There are lots of videos of catchers intervening with an umpire in order to save his pitcher after the ump gets pissed for whatever reason. There is almost always contact of some sort because the catcher steps in front of the umpire to block his path. This leads to hands on the chest or the ump bumping the catcher yet the catcher doesn't get tossed out. Why? It is not an aggressive type of contact. The simple fact is that you are not allowed to touch a game official in an aggressive angry manner. It is not tough to comprehend why. If you are not mature enough to keep your cool as a "professional" and an adult maybe you shouldn't be on the field....
The first umpire literally looked like he was in the Matrix when Anderson very lightly brushed the bill of the cap with his helmet. Like.. this is Oscar Winning material here.
And the commentators with their always dramatic response of, “oh no, you can’t do that…”, like he just decked the guy. Or the other good one, “oh, he must have said the magic word…”. Like you can whatever, but oh my, not the “F” word, oh the humanity! 🙄
Bro paplebon has so much more strength then me. That old man would’ve been on his ass if he grabbed like that

whatever tough guy. West was fined for that one btw. The reason that paplebon is called a professional is because he is one. He isn't stupid enough to jeopardize his career by being a meathead like you obviously would be. Do yourself a favor and sit back, relax, have a beer and enjoy the game. Leave your keyboard commando tough guy persona at home....
*tip of helmet barely touches umpires hat. Announcers- “oh my you cannot do that! I mean he just pulled a knife out of his pocket and started stabbing the home plate ump!”
Umpires think they are invincible, I can’t wait for the league to fire a lot of them for technology. EVERY bad call should be a fine against them.

never gonna happen. The umps are not going to get "fired for technology". They have been using robo ump in AAA for years now and the infants are still getting tossed for arguing balls/strikes. The system has numerous flaws and is less accurate at times then the actual human umpires. The umpires in MLB are actually graded in every game. The "box" you see on tv is similar to what MLB uses to grade the umps. It is a couple inches of difference so if you see what looks like a ball on TV it may actually register as a strike on the official system. Despite what you children think, according to the system MLB uses the umpires are correct over 95% of the time. The guys that came up through the system with the grading being done are accurate even more of the time to the point of being margin of error perfect consistently. Do yourself a favor, sit back, have another beer, enjoy the game and leave the actual rule knowledge and calls to the professionals that obviously know way more than you do....
I'm right with anyone else that umpires can male some ludicrous calls. But umpires have a tough job too, and they are necessary to the whole process (until a.i. replaces them, but before it replaces the players), and professional athletes need to remember the professional part of the title

they are using ai in AAA and the clowns are still getting tossed for arguing balls/strikes. It will never completely replace human decision making. Umps are damn good at what they do despite what the average "fan" sitting in the nosebleeds thinks. The system MLB uses to grade the ump shows that they are correct over 95% of the time on their balls and strikes and the guys that have come through the minors using the system are correct even more frequently then that. The "strike zone box" you see on tv is similar to what MLB uses but is a few inches off of the official zone. It is quite interesting to see how the system works if you get a chance....
If I was the commissioner and an umpire made a bad call the next game everyone is allowed to punch him at least once 😂

that is why you are sitting in the nosebleeds swilling beer and whining. You are clueless and completely unqualified to judge how good an umpire is or isn't. Keep drinking beer and whining.....
What these players, managers, and umpires should do when the other gets in his face while shouting is wave his hands as if to say, "Woah! Man, you have bad breath! Use some mouthwash from now on!"
I was six. My Dad and I were in the grocery store getting food for a BBQ , the game was on the speakers in the store when the chaos broke out lol. Couldn't wait to get home and see it on TV.
From all these clips there is a lot of good teaching moments for how to properly officiate a game and tough moments as well there is a lot of information for associations at amateur and pro levels of how to properly support officials and support players in these moments. I do believe that a lot of the problems in sports is yes supporters and parents getting unruly. A big reason though is because associations do not properly support the officials and the players and refuse to take responsibility for their lack of support.
Every time a player fall in such disrespectful attitude should be fine , a high amount of money to make him think twice next time how to handle a complaint
Umpires are DESTROYING the game over an ENTITLED Mentality and these Sportscasters are acting like these Big Powerful Players are Abusing Umps that are acting like girls, WTH.
As long as the moment a player makes contact with an umpire they’re blacklisted from professional baseball. Then these whiny ass players won’t have to complain about close calls ever again.
Umpires touching the fucking players? Like holy crap bro. Like that’s awful

NGL I’m tired of MLB umpires. They should get more than “a bill of a hat” sometimes. They always make the game about them. Nobody is buying umpire jerseys or coming to see them……
The one at the 1.50 mark correct me if I'm wrong but didn't that umpire shove the ballplayer FIRST? If you can't take it, don't dish it out because a person has the right to defend themselves even ballplayers. That one was BULLSHIT!
@@donarthiazi2443 All the more reason why I stopped watching baseball for. Well that & the fact as much as it pains me to say this, they added the DH to the NL. Bye MLB. I refuse to watch softball.
