Glendale Raptors and Seattle Seawolves go head to head in Major League Rugby's first ever championship bout to claim bragging rights as the first winners of the MLR shield.
@N l2 There is no reason to bash one or the other. I enjoy the seven major codes of football (hence my youtube name). The highest level of Rugby League competition in the United States is the USARL. 2018 was their 8th season with the Jacksonville Axemen crowned champions.
N l2 We have USARL (mostly South and Northeast) and they are talking about putting a Super League team in New York. I love both codes. You like League?
7 Codes Totally agree. I get shit from both sides. I love watching both. League is more spread out with play along the wings. Union is more up the middle with yards gained being more crucial. This week I watched 3 Champions Cup games and will see SD vs RUNY in SD this weekend. I watch tons of Rugby League as well. Glad you like both as well.
Congratulations US, thank you for sharing the MLR games on youtube. I am very fond of Rugby, and here in Brazil, this sport is very difficult, we have a lot of difficulty and no little incentive for it to grow. It is very nice, beautiful and rewarding to see how you can make a professional sport quickly compared to other countries (like Brazil where I was born and live). This only improves society and encourages young people to be able to live by doing what they enjoy. Keep posting the MLR games for me to keep up with the growth and evolution of your athletes. Thank you very much, you are an example to followed. Regards Saulo. (Excuse my poor english).
I hope Brazil can get it's pro league. You are a Massive country who love sport, always cheer for the South American teams you play with so much heart in Rugby.
Great game. Finally an opportunity for the great game of rugby to grow here in the States. Both teams played a game that was of a championship quality.A lot of passion shown by the players on both sides.I'm not going to nitpick on how they played, skillsets, fitness or whatever.I am going to say this. The sky is the limit for USA Rugby. Players and coaches from Europe New Zealand Australia,South Africa in the ARL is going to vastly improve the skillsets, discipline, and rugby I.Qs of our players. This will sent good quality players to compete for spots on the USA EAGLES.Shout out to the Seattle Seawolves 2018 ARL Champions.
Not a bad inaugural season that finished with a flourish with two firmly established teams with one eventual champion coming out, well done to seattle. Can't wait to see this tournament grow bigger than ever in the upcoming seasons, especially with a total of 15 teams in the works from what I heard....but anyways the potential is already there.
43 minutes..."lets cut away from a critical lineout to go to stacy showing an approximation of a lineout that doesnt explain it very well, thereby missing the actual lineout"
It's weird watching this compared to Super Rugby which I'm used to watching. Obviously the quality of rugby is a lot less than super rugby but it'll be good to see it grow. From a kiwi.
From watching a few points of observation. Physically the players look ok. Certainly big enough maybe abit too big in some cases, they need better fitness. Skills wise actually better than expected but still has work but that's just gonna take time and constant drilling. Tactically again not bad but basic. All the players have great commitment though and are giving it a good go with plenty of aggression and passion. All in all a pretty good start but space to grow as to be expected. Really look forward to seeing this league grow.
Alot of offsides alot of poor defensive lines. But the tackling is good, the strengh is good and the passing is not god awful. Give the league a few years and it will be better than most European leagues.
That obstruction on the 7 for Seattle is a little ticky tacky, he just ran a straight line as a dummy receiver . They just crowded there, I have seen that play a bunch. He was behind the passer when the ball was passed.
Joe Conte I love both codes! The difference being the contested ruck (Union) vs play the ball (League) and no lineouts, mauls and contested scrums in League. Love both.
Watched a number of the games from this season and enjoyed them. Standard wise, I'd say it's about level 3 or 4 in England, so National 1 or 2. Though a good deal less attritional that European rugby. The quality of the commentary needs to improve, the rugby knowledge of the commentators will improve over time and feed into that. Some of us need to remember that they are producing a product for the American market! so the mini demonstrations are important to spread understanding. I'm also ok with 4x20 minute qtrs. with a break disguised as a drinks break, if that's the price of TV coverage. Think the USA can be a sleeping giant for world rugby, it just needs rousing, Rugby becoming a Varsity sport controlled by NCAA, with sports scholarships at all the div1 universities will be key! Hosting the Rugby World Cup will also help.
"VERY TOUGH GAME 1ST FINAL GLENDAL RAPTORS"!!...aarrmm???..."CONGRATS SEATTLE SEAWOLVES 1ST MAJOR LEAGUE RUGBY CHAMPIONS"!!..like "SUCH A TIGHT, HIT 4 HIT TYPE OF GAME WHERE THERE'S NO HOLE"!!..but "STILL HAVE TO HAVE TREMENDOUS COURAGE AND ADAPTIVE CREATIVITY TO BREAK THROUGH EVEN DAH MOST MENTALLY STRONGEST HARD DEFENSES TO CLOSE A GAME OUT"!!..
