Trying out an unedited format instead of the usual react videos where I cut out stuff to make them shorter. Let me know which format you prefer

Prefer this format, because I can skip through parts or speed up the video playback for sections that were cut out on my own end if I need to.

@@eelge I'm going to say the opposite because even in some of the cut down sections I'm skipping over some of his rambles. That said, I'm fine with both--more or less. Might just be easier to say anything under an hour stays less edited and anything well over it should be cut down some?

@@nlc50 yeah I think that might be the way to do it. Cut down the longer ones, but keep the shorter ones uncut. Ideally I want them to be around 40-50 mins I think

@gahngis8158 Starting out with a fresh account always pick "customize" for your class. As the pre-made class builds in game either don't work or are so bad it will make you cry. Don't be afraid to use items and potions they aren't precious things, and grab all the bags you can to help with your inventory management. The single biggest upgrade you can make for your account is buying the mysts of ravenloft expansion. It's a huge amount of content and gear that can easily take you to level 20 on a first life.

It's not that MMO's are dead, it's that no new MMO's are coming out that are exciting, and therefore, he has nothing to make videos about.

So logistically I think the pivot from making DokeV and Crimson Desert an MMO to something else hinges more on the fact that Pearl Abyss already runs and operates two MMOs technically since Black Desert and Black Desert Mobile are two separate games. I would NEVER trust a company that runs more than 2 MMOs. Pearl Abyss for their standard Asian faults I actually think are making the correct choice with both of those games.

i sincerely hope gw3 becomes the mmo redemption arc but even I think its dangerous move on arenanets behalf when all they really need to do with gw2 is add some new playable races and maybe a new elite spec every expansion

The problem with MMOs is the established games have had the time to work out what works for them. It’s also bad for streamers (for the most part) as a lot of content isn’t the most thrilling in MMOs. Most of GW2 things are just relaxing to do or the same thing for ages for example, but it’s fun to play. Now as you said it’s all dopamine - hit the next big game, find out it sucks, etc. there’s just fewer MMOs vs 8 billion shit shooter games that took 15 min to develop

I would bet that by 2030 the mmo as a genre will be replaced by mmo like co-op games such as enshrouded and wayfinder. Really seems like the live service model for mmos is done and players will look to step away from live service more and more as companies get more and more greedy. Enshrouded is already basically an mmo with the way the save system goes and wayfinder was an mmo that reformatted to be a single player/ Co-op. Mmos are truely dead but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Remember when 15 years ago MMORPG were dead? I remember. Some people just truly don't understand the long lived nature and niche reach of the genre. This guy rant is just him pretending a niche genre is not popular as MOBAs or FPSs. I think only WoW made it that big, and that was like at the very begining of it, 20 years later is not anywhere near where it was. MMORPGs are about the "second life", are about long term goals, are about slowpaced experience, where you soak in a world and become an entity in it and you follow for years, for decades, and due to this non-bombastic, non-fashionable nature they do not get popularity, they don't get spotlighted, they are inhenrently booring to watch... Those of us that enjoy them, enjoy them for the little mundane things, just like a second life. MMORPGs are just fine as they are, has they have been, as they are going to be. People waiting the next big thing are in denial, don't understand what the genre is about, and ultimately if them picked MMORPGs for their business/job they got it wrong right from the begining and they just want the genre to change so they can make it to the end of the month instead of just moving away from their terrible decisions. "MMORPGs are dead" thank god, i wouldn't have it otherwise.

That carcass needs to be stuffed. One of my most loved stuffing is onions, oranges, Chinese chestnut and a few other thing. I'd say RTS are possibly in a better state than MMORPGs as they are cheaper to make and have good ones coming out every now and then. Take Homeworld 3 for example. There's just not a lot of market share in it. One of the oldest if not the oldes MMOs that's still around and somewhat relevant is EvE Online. It had a slow growth over many years (released in 2003) and was able to last those years with a very loyal fan base. There were hickups of course and some things didn't work out but overall it's pretty successful. Not sure where exactly they stand right now. That new MMOs get the initial onslaught from the starving MMO fans is a very bad thing for a developer. They need those initial servers to have an at least acceptable launch but they run the risk that interest may dry up quickly. And if they still use static seperate servers, they are in big trouble. Warhammer Online was a perfect case study of that.

There is a reason the path of exile devs refer to guild wars from time to time. Guild Wars might not be perfect but to me by far the best. New world had the potential but will not come close. I probably will try to go back to guild wars 2 and then play poe2 in q4 24.

I feel that people like you get together and create a game that is based on new and fresh. There is a need but scrap the old way of thinking.. base the game on player needs instead of their shareholders. If they put aside big pay and base it on future success.

The problem is that you need 💰 to create an MMORPG, and even more to maintain it. Compared to the profitable gacha model, the MMO one just can't sustain itself for very long. Even game like Guild Wars 2, whose whole revenue is from selling yearly expansion and a couple of gemstore items, struggles to survive. Hell, they don't even have enough money to market their game properly 💀
@Jersey621

The interest is here. Getting a group of gamers together that put players first. A fair and equitable shop in game to support the game. Gw2 has incorporated different levels for different interests.. Bring it back .

I would take whatever Styx says with a grain of salt. Really. The guy now mostly cover gacha but his "cover" is just browsing reddit and copy pasting whatever is being said there. His TOF "Review" or "critics" are nothing but a compilation of reddit post and some random forums. I think at one point he even made a guide on a game and how much spending X$ on that game would looks like, only to be called out later by actual players that he barely scratched the surface of that game. Yeah really, whatever that guys says you can assume he doesnt know shit on his subject

20:03.. we can make it change.. all streamers all gamers team up, we make the best ffing mmorpg ever; hard into the company rules must be embedded that all profit made will go directly back into the game. Nobody must ever be allowed to sell to investors, steal ideas and patent them for themselves etc.. everything legally set in stone a non profit mmorpg company, all the devs / employers earn normal salaries, no massive bonu systems or anything like that.. The company will survive and become the biggest best mmorpg of the world, because investors just milk all good games dry and when you can offer more and more content, keep improving and all profit goes back into the game, subs can stay super low. It's actually "easy" to dominate a market that has a huge hole in it (because greedy creators keep selling their souls to greedy investors that keep killing off anything and everything that starts good).

Yea sorry, but this is a very bad take on gaming in general. Also he doesn't play "his MMO's" as it should. He also tired... tired of what? I've never been burnout, because I have legacy in almost all "famous" MMO's over the years. I have FFXIV, GW2, SWTOR, LoTRO, ESO, WoW, PoE, even New World for a time. If I feel like I am getting burnout I'd immediately switch to the other MMO on my list and be there for 2-3 months. I'd do this cycle constantly and when you switch at every 2-3 months there's always new content to play with. GW2 can you take at least 6 months up to an year (if you no life) alone if you decide to play this game properly, then there's WvW, PvP, the content is huge. LoTRO on the other hand have has almost 20 years of woth of content. All these MMO's have really big stuff to offer. What exactly he expects? That the next new MMO is gonna offer anything new, or unique worth staying for? Ain't gonna happen. It will have all these elements from the previous MMO's that he's so tired of. Shit take for me. P.S. Roze, you rock mate!

This logic is why so many people swapped to gatcha games and seasonal games. You login to one every few weeks do your dailies and the new events then log out and onto the next. Its just a better version of this daily/weekly mindset aspect. MMO's are meant to be a long term game that you invest your time into not one you jump on the bandwagon for a few weeks then swap to another they arent financially stable enough to do this due to server costs. So yes id say Roze's points are pretty spot on either new MMO comes out that offers something unique or the industry dies out for a few years outside of the few titans of the industry.

@@LumariOG My comment was in regard to the guy from the video, not Roze's. Also MMOs don't spring off of the ground, or on a whim just because you're in the mood to play something different. Adapt, or be burn out, it's very simple.

@Lowlightt
@Lowlightt 2 месяца назад
@@LumariOG He would be right if MMO's were closing shop. They aren't. In fact most of the mmo's that did close down are now reopened on player run servers instead. MMO's are still going strong. DDO, LOTRO, GW2, EQ, Runscape, WoW, Wow Classic, COH & COV, mmo's are doing fine. Even new mmo's are doing fine. Black Desert and Amazon's MMO are still going strong. What isn't doing well is MMO streaming content. which is his job and why he is whining.
