33:52 Meanwhile, in GW2, you can level in literally any way you want. You can do the traditional "kill these things" or "collect these things" but you can also ignore that and level up via exploration, doing events, world bosses, etc.
The controversy this video resulted in was unbelievable. BDO players got so mad after a content creator named Pansy tried to s**t all over this video simply because of the title and he didn't put in 300 hours to give a first impression....and here's the kicker....everyone agreed with everything Sawman said. Even this Pansy guy. (who since deleted the video, go figure) Never saw anything like this, where everyone said he was right, but because he didn't play as long as they wanted him to, tried to downplay everything he said even though they say he's right about everything. It was legitimately insane, sanction worthy behavior. BDO players did not come off well in this entire back and forth. They looked like a brainwashed cult who got mad because a youtuber told them to be mad, even though they fully agree with the person they are supposed to be mad at. Literally crazy. 🤷♂️
Got a follow-up video coming that more directly addresses the drama stuff. Was honestly a little nuts looking in to it and seeing how knee-jerk the reaction was instead of considering the points Sawman made in this video
I actually started playing ESO after about 4 years of GW2. Make no mistakes i still log in to GW2 daily for a few dailies, home instance and maybe one two meta events but after getting full legendaries i am a bit burnt out and honestly have almost everything i want. That beeing said both GW2 and ESO ... or any other mmo out there including WoW are not perfect, but they each do a few things really good. GW2 for me has the best open world and minut system out there. By open world i mean the meta events. Zerging everything down while abusing mounts to quickly get from point A to point B is top tier. Also have to give points to animations both spell and movement. ESO, I only started less than a month ago but the questing is really fun, even the side quests and to my surprise there are a lot types of quests. Go kill 10... something is quite rare. The quests are more like the dynamic events from gw2 and that is a plus in my book. The world is also quite beautifully designed with tons of things to explore Combat... it is not bad, honestly i think new world did it better but it could had been way worse For me if i want to play a single player game in multi-player, ESO is perfect for that. If i want to team up with 50+ other player and decimate the local fauna and population on a map while riding on cool.and diverse mounts, GW2 is the game for that

37:05 yeah. I hate games that are like "Hey get to this level, where all of our stuff unlocks for you". I hate that idea. I wanna do a lot of stuff on the way. If you follow the story in bdo, it takes you like a day to reach 56 and you open guides to get you to 61 with just questing because thats where your stats are okay to kill mobs, with each level difference you deal more damage to mobs.
Also about the story part about mmos, most people say skip the story for multiple reasons. Learning the story about a game you might not gonna enjoy and quit is a wasted time, story can be bad and you can always check forums or videos explaining the story if you are too curious, i believe most of us are visual learners and reading text quests for 5 minutes just for a single step is not for us. I bet mmo players say that "instead of reading this book irl or quest story in a game, i could have grinded." I played bdo more than i played genshin but i couldn't care less about bdo's story. However, genshin gives you stories with short visuals or while skipping the story you can still read few words and get a little bit of whats going on. Also most story is about characters you play so you might like your character to care about its origin where as personally i dont kinda care about why the dragon we slay as a server every say lives in the mountain etc. I would like to hear your opinion on this topic too, if you read all of the crap i said 😁
Honestly it's always a sad thing when an MMO doesn't integrate story properly to me, the little nuances and efforts that have gone in to it feel like a massive waste when you're just hit with a wall of text because I wouldn't bother reading all of that either. The story should make you feel immersed in the world and not take you out of the experience every 5 seconds. If done right, then even people who don't usually care about the story will start caring about it. Cant comment on Genshin though by comparison because I've never really played it past the very beginning but I hear it's super detailed in that sense.
The thing i hate about bdo is endless and worthless grind. When you get to end game gear, for each upgrade, its like gambling. You know you gonna fail the upgrade and you do it anyways just to raise your failstack so your next upgrade "might" success but you know it ain't. Also just for one upgrade, you grind like a zombie in the same spot for days just to get an attempt of upgrade. If i ever grind, i won't upgrade my weapons, i will buy the upgraded versions because upgrading system in this game sucks. Possibly worse than Lost Ark.
wait what? you can fail the "upgrade"? what the hell? is there another way to upgrade w/out failing? I'm kinda intrested in this game but i might not anymore lol
