seems they really skimped out on this set, I was expecting them to be smaller in scale but didn't know they would swap out some of the miner details for just molded plastic bits, although I think the Mastadon is nicer than the original, the others are meh, great review my friend and thanks for the comparison
Just got one at Target for $19.99. Great Review Mitch. I was on the fence with this one too as I have the original, but you're right it is worth it and it grows on you.
Hey JTMItchell87, just wanted to let you know I think your reviews are awesome. They're very informative and you certainly do a great job of letting us all know what we need in/for a great collection - especially since I'm in midst rebuilding my own collection.
There is an advantage to the replacible arms. You can copy that scene when the Megazord got its arm got cut off, which is intresting. And it also works for stop motion because you can make the hand look like its pulling the Power Sword out of the ground. So it does have some pluses.
Thank you for your review! I enjoyed your commentary and the side-by-side comparisons. On a parts-to-parts basis I'm not much of a fan of the new one, but as the whole megazord I really like it! It has a sleeker, more action-based stance and looks like it could fight, not just stand in a blocky stillness.
Hi could you please tell me, does the mastodon head from the re-released megazord work at all with the Original megazord eg clip on the body of the mastadon or fit into the megazord's hand
I wish they had still made the sculpt shapes and size of the 2010 megazord and the legacy megazord look exactaly just like the scult shapes and size of the original 1993 megazord.
It is compatible, but you may run into some issues due to the die cast against the plastic. The legacy zords (as you may know) have a fair amount of metal in them and the 2010 Megazord is entirely plastic. Hope this helped. You can still use this with the legacy ones, but I'd recommend being cautious.
@mythghost I can safely say that they are. We are going to be getting the full-on Deluxe Electronic Lights and Sounds Dragonzord for this new MMPR line. Unfortunately, it isn't due out until next year.
just wondering...can the cannons(feet of Pterodactyl) fit in the megazords hands? im thinking of getting this guy 4 a stop motion series i wanna make. great vid
I have the new megazord. Its pretty sweet considering i missed out on the '93 version. By the way if you leave the mastodon head on the front as it would be in tank mode then convert everything else(basically replace the pterodactyl chestplate with the mastodon head) it looks super badass.
Also, I don't know if you've received this information yet, but it has been confirmed at the latest Toy Fare that we WILL BE GETTING a new Deluxe Electronic Light & Sounds Dragonzord for this new MMPR line. It's due out sometime next year, which sucks because I hate waiting LOL. Just figured I'd help pass the word along. Keep up the good work dude!
i has this 1 love cuz i nvr had the original now all they need to make are as follwed:dragonzord, green ranger morpher, and regular power morpher and titanus. on mine i chromed the fangs, horns, tusks, and power sword but it came off so i painted them silver it looks so much cooler. awesome review!
I wonder how this compares to the super robot chogokin one. I want to get a dino megazord, but I'm still not sure if I'll get this one or the suepr robot chogokin one.
Has anyone mentioned how he did the tank mode wrong? It's suppose to be angled so the Tyrannosaurus's head is over the Mastodon's. That's why they changed the knees so much so you could make the Tank mode like in the show.
I got jipped when I bought this thing. It came with instructions(which a longtime Power Rangers fan like me doesn't need), but no stickers, so the Tyrannosarus, Saber Tooth Tiger, and Triceratops are practically naked. And what was Bandai thinking when they decided to not give the tiger or trike wheels and instead give them little plastic knobs?
Loved the video, Like you said. I've always wanted to original sense I was a kid, So I bought this guy! I PLAY WITH IT ALL THE TIME, Ill just transform it, transform it, again and again! And like you I hope SOOO bad they do a dragon zord!! thats my dream man!
Im thinkin of grabbing the legacy version that just came out i believe hes the same height as the 2010 but on a size comparison how tall is he when standing beside an mp-01 optimus prime?
anyone know if they plan on making a 2010 dragonzord. my nephew wants a toy one and i don't want to buy the old one because it will not be able to combine with the new megazord and have him not get full playtime out of his toys.
One thing I'll give about the new version- at least in Tank Mode the Mastadon head doesn't completely cover the T-rex head like the 93 version. The Megazord looks better proportioned, too. Still, I prefer the original.
I had the original, and no, the gun in the mouth sticker on the T-Rex was a Japanese-only thing. The ReproLabels stickers set comes with the guns to be faithful to the Japanese version
Yea... wasn't too impressed when he was comparing each Dinozard of both versions... until he compared the fully assembled Megazords. The newer one, at least in Megazord mode, doesn't seem all that bad...
I went out and got this version at target. Its not bad. I never had the original but i had friends when i was little who did. For $22 it's really not that bad. I wish they would have just rereleased the original mold though. Hope they bring out the dragonzord
hopefully we get a 20th anniversary megazord along with the dragonzord and titanus, quite possible other zords from seasons 2 & 3, and the 20th ann. ver. hopefully will be better then the 2010 one, maybe be the megazord weve all been waiting for with all flaws gone.
I did watch the video, only problems I have with it really is that they took the mobility feature of the S-Tooth Tiger and the Triceratops away which to mean was a huge fail because they took the uniqueness of those Zords away. And the other problem was that there were parts of it that were flimsy and not as solid as it was in the original, which to me says that they didn't really want to invest in the Megazord that much. But something that was good about the 2010 was that it was show accurate.
@gonard12 yellow ranger didnt wear a skirt in american series because they took clips from the japenese series and edited them and in japenese series yellow ranger was a boy so they needed to make it work
Brother, thank you for this comparison video. I collected the Megazords when I was growing up. I pretty much had every one until stopping with the Turbo Megazord. BUT! I never owned the original MMPR Megazord, which, by all accounts, is THE Megazord. Should I get the new or old version? Any chance you'll do the Megazords from PRiS? Save the original, the Mega Voyager is my absolute favorite Megazord! Your reviews are also awesome and I'd love to see you break down the toys from that series.
It's not wrong. As he said, where else would it go? I know what you mean, though. In the show, the Mastodon head went on the Tyrannosaurus's chest, but with the original toys it was in front of the Tyrannosaurus head. I don't have the original toys, but on JTMitchell's Season 1 Zords Review, I can't see a way to angle the Mastodon head to put it below the Tyrannosaurus head.
keep in mind this the new 2010 version is just a cheap re issue i just use it for display cause im glad i got one cause i couldn't get the original one cause i wasn't born till 95 and didn't discover the season 1 rangers till i was 3 sooo
as much as i may get flamed for saying this, with the fake wheels and hollow arms aside... i'd prefer this one to the original because A. its much more sleek and not as blocky, as you said the arms and legs look more defined. and B. it is much MUCH more show accurate. and that is a plus for me. I missed my chance to get the original when I was a kid but I am not passing this one up.
