What's this "first failure" or "second failure" talk? You and your trusty Jeep both made it through without breakdowns! You drove the Moab trail! Mahalo for bringing us with you! Congrats on your success. ❤
Thats a gnarly trail, don't let anyone talk ish about taking a bypass. I'd rather take the bypass or winch than breaking on the obstacle or flopping and holding everyone up. They should've been spotting you before you asked for help though. Some veterans need to step down and get in Jeep with just lockers and 35s to remember where they started before they talk trash. Pictures and videos don't do justice to rockcrawling. You did good man.
Your videos are legit. I can appreciate that your not afraid of sharing your fears and failures but that’s what makes us great. You overcame obstacles and I just enjoy your content. Have a great 👍 day love the Jeep by the way
I Went wheeling yesterday on more technically challenging stuff than I ever did before. I quickly realized that my Jeep is WAY more capable than I ever thought it was. Had to stop a couple time and jump out to let the adrenaline levels come down. So fun! Great video!
Your one of the greatest people on you here. Your honest about how you feel. You have great content. And I can always trust your how to videos. Keep it up Jason.
It's always a learning curve for me when I go wheeling. I think you did an excellent job Jason . I don't like sheer cliffs either ,so I don't do any trails with them anymore . I guess I'm just getting old . Take care sir and catch you on your next video. Pets to Pinto from me please.
I love how real you are. That cliff is no joke on that side. I have done Moab Rim 3 or 4 times in the past. One time we were coming down in the dark and I misjudged the line in the famous tip over spot and I flopped the TJ on its top. It wasn’t fun. Kudos to you for fighting through the nerves! We have all been there!
Nice job on the trail. Don't put yourself self down so bad. Those guys built their trucks to do what they do. I watch Nate on his channel and he's a rock climbing dude lol. I'm like you when it comes to do some of them trails. It's even harder when others are watching and waiting on you to get through.
Heck I'm only on 31's. I just got started in a TJ. Went out for my first real wheeling a few months ago. We tried to keep it easy, then a few miles into the trail it got "real" to get out. I had no idea my "stock" Jeep could do that. My heart was racing. It's good to see someone not trying to act like a bad ass for once and keeping it real.
First thing I noticed was your patties were not folding around the rock like they should. maybe take out 1 to 3 more PSI. Both those guys tires were folding more getting more grip from that alone. Also you did fine. Everyone has different experiences. Nate runs Reiter, and Elbe hills a lot out here in the PNW. those trails are technical with large step ups on rock ledges. Bumping up, and just finding traction on rocks is a skill set in its self. Great video
Just watched the whole playlist for the jeep, took me a couple weeks but was so cool to see it go from stock to what is is now, keep the videos coming !!
I agree when you said “it’s been a bit since wheeling and getting back out you feel like your new to it again”. My 1st wheeling trip is here in a few weeks in Moab, I can’t wait but still nervous how it’s gonna be. Thanks for another great video Jason!
you did awesome Jason! Those drop offs and shelves look hella intimidating and I can only imagine how scary that had to be until you feel the Jeep handling it. Cool you could go with Nate and Mike!
so happy to see you getting out to EJS and back real rock crawling.... and with Nate and Mike!!!! Mike is from Fresno and his shop is near us... tons of good wheeling up near Shaver Lake... you should get up here sometime
Love watching your videos! You always know how to capture the moment in each shot. Seeing you on these trails inspires me to get in my jeep and go play in the mud and dirt and want to get into playing on the rocks. Keep up the great work!
I love how you act like these dudes are somehow above you when your acumen put you solidly in their peer group. You “influence” all us as much as any of them do.
I've done wheeling but nothing like Moab ! Yes I'm terrified of heights myself I can relate totally Jason . Like people said got learn somehow & someway take it easy you get there you be like rest of folks and take what you learned to teach others like guys helping you in video .
Yikes is right Moab Rim tippy to the cliff its an ausome trail. It gets easier the more times you do it. We passed you guys at the Z turn were the yellow jeep was on its top. Cool to see you guys up there. Keep making videos they are fun to watch.
Jason, I went out to hidden falls adventure park yesterday. (Local place near me) that was my first time doing any serious wheeling in my 2 door stock rubicon. Honestly I have the same feelings about off camber obstacles. It’s a fear, but gosh darn if it doesn’t feel so exciting afterwards. I definitely gained a little confidence yesterday. Can’t wait to put my metal cloak lift on. Happy trails Jason, hope you’re having an excellent day. 🤙🏻
Hwy Jason as always love your videos. I saw your post about the best top and was wondering if the top will work on the JL's, if so I will be in SoCal in a couple of weeks, and would love to take the Best Top off your hands. If it doesnt work on the JL some lucky JK owner will enjoy it.
I also agree an auto trans would have made your experience more enjoyable. What psi were you running? Seemed like a lot of tire chirping. Overall looked like you had a lot of fun.
Don’t feel bad, heck I need lots of practice wheeling. My problem is there just isn’t any good trails close by. You did great and will just keep honing those skills. Cheers
When I am wheeling usually the slight off camber stuff gets me too. I feel like I am going to tip but when looking at pictures or videos later it was nothing. And when I am going on something where I actually could possibly tip it feels stable in the cabin. Big rocks feel stable and small rocks make the most swaying. Its weird. Moab definitely gives you lots of off camber fun.
That custom bed on the 21 Tacoma looks amazing imo. Was watching half distracted so didnt get the name of it? Great Videos as always. This channel deserves way more subs!
I actually can really relate to how you're feeling out there. Not necessarily in off-roading, because I don't get much chance to do that, but that's how I feel when I mountain bike with advanced riders. In fact, I've been out to Moab to ride twice, and I was especially nervous the first time as all the guys I went with were next level, and it was both thrilling and terrifying trying to keep up with them and trying to conquer some of the trails and obstacles out there. I did it, I had to walk a few things, but rode some stuff that I didn't know I'd be able to, and felt like a million bucks after.
You did great your jeep is set up awesome. I think the Toyota are on 40 and your on 37 that makes them have a huge advantage and the ledge easily to climb. Takes more skill on 37
Everyone starts out not knowing! So just the fact that you guys were doing it is great and your learning! Awesome stuff just one question what size tires you got on the Jeep?
What did you air down to? Looked like you had quite a bit of air in the tires. I bet if you went down to 12psi or so, some of those ledges would be alot easier. Just curious.???
Howdy Jason! Your skills are solid. Only thing holding you back were the Patagonia's. (great all around tire) But if you're doing stuff like this you need some sticky Nitto's. If you had the softer and grippier Nitto's you would have made it up first attempt in most of those opsticals.
Hey Jason. Good videos always. I wanted to ask u about the Patagonia’s. I have a new set on my wife’s Jeep. I’ve heard that running higher air pressure (38-40 psi) is the key to longer wear. Do u agree? Just put hers on in Jan and I wanna make em last as long as possible. Thanks!!
Opposite... I run 28psi cold (they heat up to 33 on hwy) with great success. The key is to rotate them regularly for max life. The tires you see here have over 30K miles on them.
Thanks for posting this. Lovely trail. Do you think the first obstacle could have been done if you did a Moab bump? Just seemed like you were close just needed to back up a foot or two and hit it again. As you know momentum is huge
I don't think so on that one. My control arms kept hitting and stopping all forward progress no matter the momentum. The correct technique would've been not to be square against it and take an angled approach but the cliff edge and angle kept me from trying that first thing. I'd try that now.
I went wheeling with a friend that had way more experience than I do and after watching him tackle an obstacle that had him nearly on his side he simply said that was a controlled roll over now you give it a try. I took the bypass lol
Your like me Jason, I don't know how these guys do black bears pass. I could never do it as a driver or passenger. Sometimes its to just too close too far from comfort. And at that point for me... its not worth it sometimes.
I did Black Bear Pass in a stock Jeep Renegade and enjoyed it very much, not scared at all. The cliff doesn't bother me as much as the off camber lean of the trail towards the cliff this one has. 🤘
Oh dude, this question gets me right in the emotionals. If I were to have gotten a rear locker, it probably would’ve done pretty good but gotten a bit more body damage for sure.
I agree. I got 40,000 out of My Milestars with life to go, but didn't abruse them like you do. There isn't another tire for the price I would go with. I love them.
I squared up on those first two and my rear control arms kept getting hung up... If I were to have tried to maintain an angle at the obstacle would've helped! Thanks!
3 transfer cases to get extremely low gearing I don’t know if it’s necessary but I appreciate the dedication also your facial expressions on these obstacles is highly entertaining great video👍🏻
@@AutoEdits maybe you could do a tire test for us of your favorite three tires for the jeep and go through on trail. On highway, on mud and any other wheeling you may do and give each a score and show us the winners and loosers
Maybe give yourself a lot more credit - you're driving manual stick. Didn't see you stall/restart the engine once. ANy plans for transfer case upgrade?
I love manuals as much as you, but when it comes to this stuff, an auto is so much more forgiving. With a manual, unless you have a crawl box, you are really limited with how slow you can crawl. And yes, I hate anything off camber. Even if I know, in my head, its well within the limits, I still don't like it.
