In this video I'll show you 5 very important yet sometimes overlooked upgrades to consider when building your Jeep Wrangler. I'll walk you around the AutoEdits 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubcion JKU and show how and why these top five areas are so important to get the right parts on!
Starting with the foundation of any good Jeep build is the off road suspension upgrade and often times this will include the lift. I chose the MetalCloak 3.5 Gamechanger with the 6Pak shocks and have been very happy with 2 years and lots of trail miles. My recommendation to people looking to upgrade their suspension is to get a name brand kit from a respected company. I obviously like MetalCloak but another local company near me is Synergy and then there's TerraFlex and BDS and lots more. My point here is to get good quality parts... it will pay off for years after.
Then it's the body armor and skid plate protection. I've heard horror stories from people trying to install low end budget skid plates and having an extremely difficult time. My skids were easy to install and are super tough... again... don't skimp out on the protection of your rig. Having good bumpers and fender protection is just a great plus. After skid plates... the most important body armor is the Rocker guards.
Next up is the Tom Wood's Driveshafts I have in this thing... top quality parts! I chose the 1350 U joints which is the upgrade to the standard shafts. I have beaten on them, scraped them on rocks and I'll explain the rear axle damage that they survived in this video. Getting super strong driveshafts offer you the peace of mind to hit obstacles hard and not worry about breaking them.
Next up is the PowerStop Z36 brake pads and cross drilled and slotted rotors. Many people forget to even do a brake upgrade because it is more fun to add stuff that you see. After adding larger tires and a bunch of weight in armor to your rig... you'll need to upgrade the brake system to keep up with that added mass. There are lots of options here and I chose the PowerStop because at $370 they are one of the most cost efficient for the big upgrade they offer.
And finally, just get a Warn winch... don't mess around. Save up and get a Warn winch. It is important to have a winch on your Jeep if you are going to go out and get awesome in the dirt or rocks ... a winch is an important piece of equipment to make sure you can safely recover yourself or your buddy if things get stuck. In my opinion, and that's all I can offer here, get a good winch if you plan to do a fair amount of off road adventures!
Thanks so much for watching!
