Hi Dan. If mounting a dual band 2m/70cm antenna on a pickup truck, what is the better performing position? Is it the front fender near the windshield, rear steak pocket on the bed by the tailgate or front steak pocket behind the cab? Can it be offset the steak pocket? I have a tonneau cover on the bed and it covers the steak pockets. Thanks a bunch.
Some very good info. At 1:24 you correctly state that ground loss drops as the antenna height increases. But at 3:17 you said raising an antenna above the ground plane increases the ground loss - not true. But is is usually a bad idea due to the inductance and resistance of any ground strap causing tuning problems and more loss than you gain by moving up. It almost looks like you disdain wide ground straps but you correctly affirm their use in RF bonding in a later video. Cheers
