Youdumbhoe almost everything surrounding this movie is pretty much counterintuitive to the message. The media and a lot of the promotional material played up the love triangle aspect with Team Gale and Team Peeta, turning the three leads into mega stars for a short time reporting their every move, and even turning everything they could into a merchandising opportunity. And no one focused on the actual plot of the movie with the war and the game show/reality tv aspect that’s basically survivor with child murder. It was very ironic.

There would be an action showdown bewteen her and Snow, instead, she just gets injured at the mansion gates. There is no "happily ever after", just the promise of peace. Overall, the film doesn't feel like an epic finale, it's a study of war and how that affects people, and that's rare, especially for a YA saga.

I thought they would drench her in water and then electrocute her. I remember from the books Katniss said Joanna refused to take baths.

@@buffycatnip As far as I'm aware it is. After her won his games, a lot of the people in Capitol (mostly rich women) were very charmed by him and would've done anything to spend time with him. President Snow waited till he became 16 and then forced him into prostitution by threatening to kill his family if he didn't comply. A lot of the people that he slept with tried paying him or giving him gifts, but what he wanted was secrets. Any kind, anything that seemed worthy enough to become blackmail and eventually he got dirt on the President. Remember the scene where he talks about how Snow kills his enemies by poison, but also drinks it with them to jot seem suspicious - that's how he learned that. I believe Snow also tried to get Joana into prostitution, but she refused and so he killed her family thus her saying "I have no one left that I love" in Catching fire.

@@saltywitch3699 i watched a youtube a while ago and this girl did a comparison of the books and the films. she was pissed that they left the sexual abuse part out of the film because we really don't hear about male sexual abuse on tv shows/films and that the film should've brought more awareness to it.

Consider: 1) she is going through a lot of shit and "boy trouble" over all that is fucking up her head 2) Peeta and she were not in a relationship at this point, she is not cheating on anyone. 3) She had confusing, conflicting emotions about Gale. She never even figured out whether her feelings towards him were romantic or platonic because the constant drama of her life and his being utterly love with her constantly muddied her mind. It is explained well in the books, idk if it is so in the films. I don't remember them very well. 4) A person can be in love with more than one person at the same time.

Probably a third of the book. don’t remember people saying the movie was bad, just that by the time it came out the hype had already passed. They took way too long to get to mockingjay p2. No one cared anymore
