Is it a good idea to mod a Q50 with high miles?? Lots of people are asking this question lately due to the fact that many of these cars are getting up there in the higher mileage range. I have some opinions on the matter, but will go over some pros and cons and then ultimately give you my personal feelings at the end.

I got my 2015 q50 last year with 90k miles but it was very well maintained last owner babied the car, now I do daily the q50 A LOT and I’ve lowered it & got a Stillen exhaust & it’s got 115k miles no issues at all just keeping the maintenance up to date is key 🔑

did you go coil overs or springs with the mileage? i have 75k and have RSR AWD downs sitting in the box still and hesistant to install

I had my ‘14 Q50 since 2018 with 27k mileage when 1st bought. Havent put too many miles yet. Shes been sitting on 48k as of now and she my daily with some mods like yours except im haven’t tune her yet.And already plan to keep her as long as shes running. Keep modding the Q with off course proper functional mods plus tlc and will she will keep going besides its a VQ! Thanks by the way for very interesting topic! never disappoint all the time! 👏🏽👏🏽👍🏾

I have 2014 AWD with 107k miles recently brought, the only issue was a bad alternator. Otherwise than that blind spot system goes out time to time, but I think it’s due a loose parking sensor. Doings some plugs but the bolts stripped on the throttle body, changed two plug but I the rest are pending till I get the bolts out. The cats seems to shot or beginning to fail no CEL, but you can smell a foul smell when you step up and a lack of power but I think that just me. I plan to high flow cats to solve this issue. Finally 7500 miles later loving the car.

Bought my 2014 Q50 with 118k. 3.7L. I knew going in that it would require a little more before I can fully modify it. It is my daily vehicle but I have the tuneup parts ready to install. Waiting to get the big brake upgrade as well. Long term parts that needed to be changed will as soon as I can. Is it a gamble? Yeah it kinda is. Resell value isn’t something I’m too focused on really. I mean it’s got 120k now but I wanted this car to be my own and it is. I don’t see why you can’t do so either. Just do the maintenance and replace parts first!! Lastly, if it’s what makes you content then go for it! It sure is for me!!

My saying has always been maintenance before mods bud. Also as a Infiniti tech I can comfortably say if you take care of that Q50, it will take care of you. That 3.7 just won’t die

Hey! I’m at 91k miles fixing to move to Pures stage 2 with Full E with Soho in Nov. I’ve kept up with maintenance and also purchased the z1 oil pan for extra oil. I got my Q at 40k miles. Hopefully with the turbo upgrades , cooling , and fueling I’ll be ok. Good video

I just picked up a 2017 with 65k miles for 12,500 cash. Sure, its a rebuilt title car and the body isnt the greatest. But i just couldnt turn that deal down..the bones of the car are good. Motor sounds healthy, everything works, i cant complain. Dealers by me are just silly right now asking almost 30 grand for 2019,20,21's with 30k+ miles. Im so glad I was able to get the q50 i wanted without having to deal with that.

That can depend on your area or where the car came from. Salty states like new York will have a rustier car opposed to Texas or California.

110K mile G37xS sedan here, focus on the rear subframe. If you can find a low mileage Q that had a front collision put your head down and get that subframe out. Only do the stupid rusted out braces at the end.

Just got a 2014 q50 with 96k on it and it seems to have been babied by the previous owner. As far as mods im probably only doing wheels and tires and a slight drop with lowering springs. After that, exhaust. I dont plan on beating on it too much, just hitting backroads and daily driving.

Currently at 170,000 miles on my 2014 Infiniti Q50 3.7 and it’s tuned by Soho Motorsports and has a couple of mods.

any transmission issues? I bought test pipes in anticipation of getting tuned. But i’m scared that they will void my warranty if i get a P0720. Will they be able to prove that my tune is what caused the valvebody to fail? or could they pass it off as it being due to high mileage?(i’m at 98k rn)

@@nameless7257 It probably would void the warranty but I’d say do it and with the tune it won’t pop up a check engine light because it’s flashed and you have to get the ones with the O2 sensor’s.

How about modding out of necessity? My G37xS sedan lived a lease life up until I picked it up 3 years later at 79,000 km, now it's at 179,000 km. Exhaust rusted out at 155,000 km, what do you do if you want to keep her stock? Keeping the 'good' stock mufflers + Magnaflow y-pipe + Walker mid-pipe replacement = price was pretty damn close to a full exhaust system. In comes the Invidia Q300 for $100 over the 'stock' setup. Now cats? Passenger side has been rattling for well over a year. Berk HFCs are waiting patiently in the garage, crossing fingers for no CEL when the time comes. Sometimes you "have to mod", it just makes sense. Keep your VQs guys, they will outlive a lot of crap out there.

I have a 2015 q50 with 82k miles I’m thinking of modifying my car before I do that what parts should I be worried about or should look at like the rear diff bushing before I add performance parts

Either the bushing or going with a built lsd from z1 if you got the monies for it maybe timing belt as well

wonderful video jay. yea my diff bushing is leaking a bunch of black fluid lol. i looked at the axleback portion of my ark grip and its all over it 😭.

I just grabbed a 2015 3.7 Q50 108k miles 15k do you think that’s a bad deal ? & the 3.7 has transmission issues I thought these were most reliable than the 3.0 ? I’ve been binge watching all you’re videos thanks a lot!!

Listen, don’t listen to the stealership, you can fix that trans Issue aka speed sensor code p0720, means valvebody/tcm mecktronics is the actual issue and the stealership will charge you for a whole new trans, you can fix this for 600 bucks on eBay my man. Easy fix. Just need a lift.

Got my 2014 Q50 AWD with 80k from CarMax with no history or warranty. I'm at 102k now and have only had the tcm issue and that was almost $3,200 to replace. Besides that I've switched to Shell Rotella T6 diesel oil to get rid of the ticking and took off the rattling cats to open it up and it runs great besides the terrible gas mileage.

@@dcd5690 berk resonated test pipes, 1320 y pipe, resonator delete, and PLM muffler delete pipes. Super raspy so I'm putting on some flowmaster flow fx resonators pretty soon.

So question, is modifying a g37 that you got for a low price and is a clean title worth it? About 150k but previous owners were not car people and would just drive the car to work.. I feel as the first step would be definitely exhaust. But then since your doing exhaust the oem headers are shot so i decided to go with Long tube headers to fix the problem of the headers and basically came with test pipes🤷🏾‍♂️ so basically the best bang for your buck.. Yes theres a couple rusty parts but she still drives fineeee but do you think?

What makes you think a 150k miles car has been abused? Mine has 217k and runs like a champ!! Bought it as a trade in with 168k on it! Still runs mid 13s in the 1/4. Just because it has more miles than 100k doesn't mean it has been abused.

You just said you run 13s-racing is abuse lol. But that’s not what I said. “Abuse” does not necessarily mean someone beating in it relentlessly. 100k miles in and of itself could be considered abuse. It is a lot of miles-whether highway or stop and go, the car has been through a lot. Did you hear my conclusion?

@@SpeedCultureStudios If the motor is in good running condition when checked out even with high miles, that would show a LACK of abuse. Or just a well built performance engine. I think you put too much on how many miles it may have instead on what condition the engine may be in. But Good vid though

I bought a 2015 q50 premium 3.7 with 52k miles maintained it well. Some of your links to the exhaust are gone. Whats the best bang for the buck high flow cat? I wanna just do that with the tekkeda long tube intakes & the basic spacers with a tune. Tryn to avoid the snap crackle pop tunes. Can you post the link with the new exhaust cats?

(I don’t see a point just to make 350whp) but I would get rid of stock muffler and replace stock resonators with flowmaster ones or somethin. 3.7 Q’s honestly won’t make very much power even full bolt on unless you end up boosting them
