“That’s our boundary-what does physics say is the envelope? That’s as far as we’ll take things.” - Lars Moravy, VP of Vehicle Engineering at Tesla. www.tesla.com/modely
I don't know about that, Tesla are working on a new manufacturing process that practically halves cost. Sales for that model could be be off the charts. Basically only Tesla can beat the model Y 😊
@@SmithsMobileYes, just like the Model Y is better than the Model 3. The Model 2/Q/T from Monterrrey will be even better. And next year or in 2028 Model 2 will be the best selling car. And in 2030 the Cybervan - hopefully.
Got my Model Y 2 years and 3 months ago. It now has 108,000 miles. It’s never been touched by a mechanic.everything still works like when it was new. And through software updates, its now a much better car than it was when it was new. Best car I’ve ever owned. By far. I ain’t going back. Ever.

less miles but the Y P is awesome. Never selling my other cars (vette and bmw's, old alfa, ) I like the sounds,; but, i dont see myself buying another ICE. maybe a hybrid but doubt it.

@@blue_ig1 Most Tesla owners havent expirenced issues tho. Do Teslas have more mistakes from factory than other car brands, probably. But gotta remember how much they already improved. Im sure they will keep improving until they hit 0.01% factory defects
@@blue_ig1I can't speak for every car coming out of the Tesla factories but their quality control definitely improved in the last year or so. My 2020 Model Y (VIN number in the low 2k} had some misaligned moldings that Tesla came to my house and fixed a week or two after I took delivery. My wife's 2022 Model Y was perfect and 3 other Model Ys that I went to the delivery center to pick up with Friends in 2022 and 2023 were also perfect. Very small sample but it is just my personal experience. What year was the Model Y(s) that had the quality control issues that you noticed?
That's exactly why the choir will like such "ads" and they will be almost ineffective. No, this is what advertising was, before it became an effective sales tool, back at the turn of the 20th century. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eJ3RzGoQC4s.html
And showcasing the people of Tesla actually doing the innovative work and explaining it in common terms. What a great way to connect people and future customers to the company and the products.
Just shy of 150k mikes on our Model S. Best car we’ve ever owned. Thanks for these excellent videos and for producing excellent products. You are the gold standard. 🥇
@@DescartesRenegade in the past 9 years, the only out of pocket expenses have been: Non-consumables: - passenger front door handle - alignment done at 147k mi - LTE connectivity upgrade (mandatory) Consumables: - front brake pads - cabin filter replacement (two) - ten pair of rear tires (P85+ RWD) - four pair of front tires - 12v accessories battery - windshield wiper fluid top off Charging: - about $47 worth of home electricity (99.9% of our charges are done at Supercharging stations as we are grandfathered for lifetime free charging) Optional expenses: - infotainment upgrade - front bumper refresh - screen replacement (yellowing edges) - wheel touch up paint - body touch up paint I think that’s about it. Can’t think of anything else at the moment. Will edit this if I remember anything else. Has been relatively maintenance free, and with the OTA updates, LTE/infotainment, upgrades, and front bumper refresh, it looks and feels new for a car that’s nearly a decade old. I think that most well kept 2012-2016 models are a steal for what I see some of them sold for, and a bonus for ones that still have unlimited Supercharging. We average about 16k mi of driving annually, or the equivalent of 64 full charges. Free supercharging may or may not be the primary reason someone keeps an older Tesla or buys an older Tesla, but for those wondering if free supercharging is worth driving an older Model S, @.40/kWh (your local SC kW/h rate may vary), we save $2176 on average annually (16.6k miles avg driven annually - ymmv)- Multiply that by 9 years for a $19,584 in Supercharging costs saved. We have no plans on selling it as it does exactly what we need it to do and plan on keeping the car for as long as we’re alive :)
@@SkyRiver1 Advertising should not try to baffle the consumer with BS. When you have a great product you don’t have to try to fool your customer. You just have to explain things clearly.
Love all the off road footage. I drive my Model Y up a 2 mile 4 wheel drive road to our house. The traction is excellent. Better than my Subaru Outback. I just wish it had the same ground clearance as the Outback. Then it would be unstoppable
Model Y is the best car I've ever owned. I've had for 2 years now and it still feels like I just bought it because of the technology! Thank you to the Tesla Team!
Got mine a couple of months ago and it is astonishing good. Comparing it to other cars is like comparing a flip phone to an iPhone. The most common question is about charging but I've never had need to take it to a super charger. It only makes me hate my van every time I get into it and have to gas it up.
First principles approach, physics is the limit... It's amazing to hear people repeat the vision that Elon has set. It shows how important his vision is to the motivations behind every decision made at the company and how the team as a whole are in line with it and doing amazing work to achieve it. Thank you Tesla team, you are awesome.
I work for a competing Automaker in EU. And the sentence this engineer has said is one that hinders many Automakers to move forward on the same pace as Tesla "doing things because we used to do it for 50 years this way". Hats off to the pioneering that Tesla does. Because of that , engineers have now the right to raise objections and start questioning all of that, this what gives me a hope this ideology will change.

We own one of these engineering marvels and we LOVE It. 2021 Red Dual Motor, LR, 21" Uber Turbine wheels. Added FSD Beta, White interior and the tow hitch. Couldn't be happier! TY Lars and Tesla team. And thank you for posting this video.
Yes. More of these please. The vehicle is its own advertisement. It’s the little snip it’s of content to understand where the Tesla team is coming from (education) that was missing.
We love our MYP! It is an amazing car. The feature set and practical applications for the car are astounding. It makes a great family vehicle! We have put 24k miles on it in 11 months with zero issues!
@StefanSteinerWA If the car had been giving us issues, I'd consider it, but honestly I don't think it is needed at this point. I'll review it when we are getting close to the end of the basic warranty.
My Tesla Model Y long range is over 2 years old now and I still get a smile on my face when I drive it. I am >70 years old and love the seat hight that lets me enter and exit with ease, never going to the gas station and on road trips the refuel takes less time than I do when we stop every 3 to 4 hours. Thanks Team Tesla as an owner and a shareholder for the last 4 years, looking forward to the TriMotor CyberTruck I sold my diesel RV during the pandemic but will buy a trailer to tow with the CT, please tell Elon we need the range with milage like you guys did for the Semi. p.s. My car was made in Fremont and I have had zero quality issues.
Just passed 2,000 miles on our 2023 Model Y Performance…. OMG! Everything is as promised and we would never even consider another gas drive vehicle. Full “tank” every morning, excellent sound system, and grin ear-to-ear driving…. wonderful vehicle…..❤❤
Your comment is so much more effective than the presentation of this vid because it appeals to what really motivates people to make purchases: unconscious and emotional motives. Tesla ads are a waste of time and money. All their cars are sold anyhow. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eJ3RzGoQC4s.html
We live 200km from the city in rural Nova Scotia - where fifth-graders have never ridden in a Tesla. Yet they know Tesla. They know, "Tesla is cool!" Kids - and Tesla - are the future.
@@glenncodiroli5513 are you sure? Polestar is at least 10k more expensive for the same package, model Y is indeed the best value, if you take anyone else and add sound system, glass roof, infotaiment , performance to match Model Y it usually is 10k or more expensive, at least in europe. And on top you get something no one else truly offers like their heat pump and battery management
@@glenncodiroli5513how did you come to this conclusion (serious question). The argument is value. The AWD version is $5k more and it's not eligible for the full federal incentive. What does the polestar have/do that the model Y doesn't to make up for that price difference?
Don’t forget that the model Y is a very bad looking car compared to the Polestar. You always have to park your model Y in the back of the parking lot so no one sees you, and a polestar is just ok and nothing to be ashamed of
Driving my MYP for almost a year is mind blowing! I can’t imagine the engineering capabilities of the car. I drove different models and Tesla is so cool to drive. I can say model Y is comparable to Porsche Macan when it comes to engineering standpoint.
This is what you get when you don't have a marketing department feeding back that you need to put more chrome here or a flatter front for a bigger logo. Before you know it they are designing the whole car from their "marketing research" and you end up with a Ford Lightning that can't look any different than the ice version because that is what is selling. They spin the lack of aerodynamics as a positive tool shed. So wonderful to think this man with integrity is putting his soul into these cars.
@@carholic-sz3qv Yes you can. Just sit in a Tesla, Not the old Model S and X. They are good for my grandfather - god bless him. The new Model 3 and Y are just - working. That is perfection. I dont care for fancy schmancy red stitching in the pseudo sporty seats. I don‘t care for large glossy rims or any other poser feature. And i certainly do not care about burning fossil ressources at ALL! If you find something to burn you can smoke it. Just not near me. You know: Smoking kills you!
@@carholic-sz3qv Lol, sounds like the stereotypical posing fossil burning Petrolhead. Try a new one. Not a Tesla of course, they are too fast for you. Start with a Leaf. Or a Fiat 500 E. Nice little slow cars that can teach you how to drive EVs. You can tune up to a Ford Mach-E or a VW ID4. Still not Tesla. They are still too good for you. You could not handle those. Next you could try a Korean. Or - if available a Vietnamese or even a - shudderinmypants - Chinese EV. Maybe after 5-7 years of learning every day you are eligible to step up to your first Tesla. But don‘t puke your guts out when you take your first turn!
Love my model Y. The one thing I wish was different or customizable is the suspension. Right now it's too stiff, you feel every single bump on the road and it doesn't make for a very comfortable ride.
Love every second in my Model S Plaid. Yesterday we overtook a car on a small road (driving slow). I give it full throttle once we changed lanes. It pulls like a rocket, fighting traction, with my gf screaming and holding onto her seat belt while my 3 year old in the back was enjoying every second. I experienced both joy and horror in those two seconds. 😂
Tesla, thanks for making a great vehicle. I own a model y and love it. I have own various cars in the past and the model y really shows the innovation and how forward thinking your team is. Thanks again.
I rented a Model Y from Hertz recently while visiting relatives near Houston. Great car with a great air conditioner. It handled a heat index of 116 with no problem. I spent quite a bit of time just sitting in it because it was by far the most comfortable place I could find in all that Texas heat. And my relatives kept wanting rides.
It's hard to describe how I feel about my Model Y - I purchased it as a daily driver but it's so fun to drive. It really feels like the perfect car. I can't imagine not driving a tesla...
We've almost got 50k mi on our model Y. It has been a fantastic car. There are a few bugs, but the overall package is just unbeatable. Such a versatile vehicle.
Its amazing how you could achieve all these engineering breakthroughs and at the same time put it in the market for people to appreciate. My sister has a Tesla and being in there makes me feel so cool, there's a special confidence to it. Great stuff Maybe people think you don't need this but I think there's should be a way to manually open the door though. Give the power to individuals not centralized too much, we have so much of it going forward it should be harder and harder to push back to balance it out. What if you implemented a password mistake system, if you opened the door manually, lets say in an emergency situation... Tesla would ask you for key questions, made enough mistakes it would contact the police in one way or the other. You could also have multiple door handles, or multiple ways to open the door, multiple ways to twist the steering wheel, multiple ways to tap the floor, and enough "wrong password" the car would be jammed or it would contact the police.
1:21 First time that Tesla's actually shown the part cooling bath in operation - though this looks like the older half-casting. In prior videos the bath is usually edited out of the process.
Love our Model Y. Most practical family/all purpose vehicle I've ever owned. It just does everything well. Roomy, lots of storage, save a lot in gas and time not having to go to the pump. Wake up every morning with a full "tank" but still have superchargers nearby if needed to travel further.
