Ang Pilipinas ay isang Tropical Country. Therefore kailangang responsive sa tropical climate natin ang ating architecture. Ano ba ang tropical architecture? Paano ito sasabay sa Modern Times? Watch this!
Hay, salamat Lord! Nakatagpo din ako ng Pinoy Architect who espouses Tropical Filipino architectural design. I have long been following Design Seed Malaysia, and have been in awe of Malaysian and Singaporean architects who seem more enlightened in terms of incorporating the elements of culture, climate & history (e.g., the Kampong houses) in their architectural designs. Iniisip ko, after Mañosa, why haven't I heard more Filipino architects promoting Filipino art, design, culture & our local climate in architecture? You are the answer to my search, Architect Ed. Excited to learn more from you! (Subscribed, notified & liked. 😂)
There are Architects who loves tropical designs like Ar. Conrad Onglao, Ar. Marvin Marianas,Cebu, Ar. Ronnie Yumang and others. It's just that nowadays as per Ar. Ed mentioned- few Architects have a design visions on how to be with Nature or live with Nature.
Nah, he forgot we are in Typhoon belt. Malaysia and Singapore don't experience the same kind of typhoons we receive. Concrete maybe hot but at least typhoon resistant.
I def agree po maam, napakaganda ng pag employ ng tropical architecture sa mga neighboring countries natin sa Indonesia, malaysia and Singapore and it saddens me rin po na hindi ganon dito satin sa pinas when in fact napa akma ng design strategies sa pervading climate.
Looking at the events in Cebu after typhoon Odette, where many parts of the city is without water, it is so important to really consider rain water collection. We cannot depend on government to fix essential structures as quickly as we would like or even the private companies charged with maintaining our water and electric grid. It's really important for disaster prone areas to develop self-sustainability.
sometimes most architecture ive seen in philippines is pare parehas ang design kaya natatawag ko tuloy silang commercial architecture, your vision about architecture fit to our country is awesome, just like glenn murcut, aside for being climate responsive design, it will give us a feeling that you are in your homeland. thank you for this vlog architect.
Well explained Arch ed, as fellow Architect we need to inform our client that it does not mean that if the structure is aesthetically beautiful means it is a good design. Architecture is a science and Art there are scientific reasons in every detail that we put into our design. please create more informative videos like these!
Gusto yan idea mo Architect Ed. Bravo! Thank you for another engaging topic.
Sa wakas Architect at meron nag discuss tungkol sa design na nababagay sa isang tropical area kasama na ang tamang orientation ng isang bahay para ma maximize ang pagiwas or paggamit sa sunlight at shades para maiwasan or magamit and natural lighting at source of heat, hindi yung nakiki uso lang sa design. Not to be negative about sa mga designs ngayon. I am not an Architect, I simply like designs na gumagamit ng practicality, innovation at ginagamit ang mga available na materials without causing hazard sa paligid at minimized if not walang sinisira sa terrain. I'm a big fan of genius plumbing and drainage system, pati na rin sa magandang air flow sa bawat area ng bahay. One day I wish to use my gained knowledge para marenovate ang old house namin dito sa Benguet province.
Bull's eye! 💕
“Action Star Architecture” 🤣😂 pang asar. Thank you Ed for another great content. 100% agree with you perfect ang asian tropical design for Philippines.
Very thoughtfully explained! Love that there is no need for rocket-science-level knowledge of engineering/architecture to fully comprehend the key concepts of building a house in the tropics. Am thinking of building a retirement house in Mindanao --- with a plethora of green spaces (secondary forest) and fresh air. All your tips Architect Ed are opening my eyes to how one can build green, i.e., minimal use of air conditioning and recycling of rainwater. Thanks so much Architect Ed.
Arck Ed: i have been in and out visiting my siblings and have closely observed home designs and home building dyan sa atin. The American home is about functionality: itnlols average but inside its all about function especially the kitchen and bathroom. Thanks for this segment about how architecture needs to be fit and NOT UNFIT. As Filipinos we need to design a home that’s sustainable and practical for a tropical country like ours. Thanks and nice Vblog!!
Thank you very much architect Ed! You have presented a very important and useful informations on how to build a sustainable house in the Philippines. I am now hooked on watching your videos and looking forward to see more. Thank you for sharing and may God keep you and bless you.
That’s really true, Architect Ed! We tend to follow what we see from these beautiful and grand houses from other countries not considering the kind of weather we have. I hope I can get your services when the time comes. Thank you for this vlog.
Sir, I really like you and your channel. You cater to the needs of Filipino homeowners.
Magandang topic to Archtect Ed! For sure itong mga designs na makikita natin is incorporated din with this kind of glass. Thanks.
I 👍 your design sir Ed it should be appropriately planned and done according to specific climate or weather of a certain place, region and country. Sustainable design is highly important now and for the better future.
Archi, its highly commendable you finding time to educate us with these principles which is really not a very common knowledge among us Filipinos. Dapat nga these basic concepts must be part of our early education coz it has a direct profound impact to our way of life. I hope the architectural community will also make a massive education campaign about these basic sustainable principles. This basic knowledge should be part of being a Flipino. The government and its friend-corporations are obviously not interested with these ideas for its not beneficial for them.
I am a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture too. So glad you are educating all of us of the tropical practical homes well suited for our comfort & affordability. I am in Florida USA right now. I hope to have the honor of having you design & build me a home out there in the Philippines 1 of these days?
This is so far the most informative video on architecture for Filipino houses, thanks for helping us with your ideas. I wish to obtain your services next year when I'll be hopefully and finally building my dream house.
I'm an OFW nurse and planning to build a simple house for my parents this yr. Salamat po sa lahat ng infos sir. Keep it coming po. God bless
Wow! Finally...may ka match na yung mga ideas ko na pinagtawanan ng karamihan everytime I say that I would love to retire in a tropical, native bahay kuboy style and many other native eco friendly ideas relative to philippine climate when I get old...daming tumaas kila na nakarinig....akalain mo all the while tama pala ako! E di nman ako architect o engineer😁...super tenk u to u, Bossing..lodi na kita mgmula ngayon...Stay safe and blessed🙏
so glad i found you. I've been checking a lot of house design and i feel you, naiinitan din ako sa mga designs.. Thank you so much for enlightening us, those who don't understand architectural design. Very informative content. You are a blessing!
I was thinking of this idea lately. Thank you for sharing. I hope magkaroon kayo ng platform to help filipino people to construct their homes appropriate for our weather/geographic location. More power to you.
Right. I think I saw a site from the Austratlian government that has a guide for sustainable housing guide applicable to their climate.
Hi architect it’s so refreshing to find a professional architect that recognise what is the best for our country. This idea is to consider places susceptible to get flooded, which is needed t (I think) will you be able to design a house convert to an arc but anchored ? When the typhoon comes? I have attended several building seminars and it’s really interesting. I hope you will able to design a housing project using our resources that we have in the philippines to build houses that are appropriate for our climate. We need to educate our people, that it’s not only aesthetic but with purpose. Unfortunately some people no judgement here ,tend to showcase their house as they come from abroad they have to show case their houses However why not make a report or a sustainable housing project( maybe you already did) specially flooding area like what they do in Amsterdam they live surrounded with water. Cheers D
Dami kong natutunan salamat po, tropical house is my dream house eversince. Pangarap ko po to have one by the beach sa province namin. ☺️
❤love the way you explained po naiitindihan ko nang maigi kung papano ko papa gawa yong beach house na I plan to built . I’m saving this video para when I’m ready for my plan I’ll look for you and I want you design po. Thank you again 😊 god bless
you are so right. very informative and very practical. beautiful house designs. over all love it! hope to work with you someday in a project i’ve been planning. thanks for the input and more power to you Ed!
Nice very informative! Haist!!!
Good day Architect Ed. Im new to your channel. Same lang din reaction ko everytime I see modern houses with sliding windows - mainit. Not unless may AC ang bahay. BTW, my parents started to build their/our house with frech/steel window with screen, that was early 90's. No need isara ang steel windows pag gabi kasi may screen naman, no worries sa lamok or other insects. Natural ventilation talaga. French window with screen. Natural Ventilation. Presko pa. As of now mejo uminit na din sa bahay. God bless, more power, and more subscribers to your channel. 🙂
I like your ideas architect Ed pagyumaman ako ikaw ang magtatayo ng dream house ko architect. In gods will. 🙏
Well done Arch Ed your advice and infos are very informative. Ang galing talaga. I'm going back to your past videos dahil I wanted to build a tree house overlooking the beach and I know you've shared before light materials that can be used in constructing a house. Gusto ko sanang malaman if you can give us another informative video about building a tree house? Salamat po and continue the good job ... God bless.
Gud pm just today 03/30/2022 i have watched the diffrent roof design en the modern archi.design . Naku Arki i learned so much lyk the Buladas dapat maayos en the ryt materials to be used palibhasa solo parent me at pinagkatiwala n lang kung kanino ayun oven ang bahay . Tnx. for the architectural lessons u are sharing. Cute k p rin lalo n kapag nakataas kilay! More power!!!
I'm a first year arki, and I was finding some barangay hall reference for our final plate this sem and good thing I also found this! My partner and I wanted our hall to have the tropical modernism style para maiba naman yung style sa mga barangay hall natin ngayon, plus, di rin kasi sya ata masyadong na cocoorporate dito sa bansa natin. The corner house mall also inspired me to adopt into tropical modernism style. Its suits ph's weather so much that's why we like it and you could also showcase the culture of the ph by incorporating some materials or designs to it!! Its just so refreshing in the eyes! This is so much helpful, I learned a lot!! We'll use these tip to our plate. Thank you po Ar. Ed!! This answered all of my questions abt how to design a tropical modernist bldg.
Architect Ed, thank you sa video mo. Thank you again
Thanks for sharing
Just a thought. I like your ideas Bro. Thanks.
I’m so glad I came across your channel. Very good information. I’m a Filipino who’s been living in Canada for 40 years nd recently retired. I have been thinking of building a house in the Philippines but concern of the climate - flooding, typhoon, hot hot weather. Your video is very educational. Wanted to know if you have a website? I hope that once my plans of building a house is more concrete I’ll be able to contact you. I love the designs that you have featured in this video.
