This song is stunning by itself, but I love how it bleeds into Float On, the transition between these two songs is one of my favorite things in the world. Absolutely lovely.

one of my favorite albums ever. It came out when I was 25 and it was perfect timing in my life. I had just been dumped by my first love, this song in particular pretty much sums up how I spent the next 10 years of my life, lol. Moving around and trying to figure me out again.

I don't know how anyone else interprets this song. To me feels like, the world feels so big and I'm just taking life day by day. Feeling like a gypsy in a way. Don't wanna stay in one place. Nowhere feels like home. Just maybe finding home in a person. And not really having a plan, floating on, day after day. Not sure where life will take you.

No matter how old I get or how much my life changes, I will always hold a deep reverence and respect for Modest Mouse. No band has held a deeper place in my heart than themselves. They can turn pain and sadness into beauty on a deeper level than any band I have ever heard.

i remember leaving my job at the grocery store after closing and it was a crisp cool night. i had my windows down because my ac didn't work and this song came on before i pulled out. i ended up sitting and listening to it on repeat over and over. it had ended up on an mp3 or burnt cd from a friend, but i'd never actually heard it. i probably listened to it 10 times before driving home. it still hits me all these years later.

This song will always be very important to me

This song is very special to me for multiple reasons. Back when Covid-19 hit, I was just getting out of middle school. My girlfriend and I ended up drifting apart and we just broke things off (in a very emotionless manner too)...yeah, I know it may seem funny, and this is partially why I think trying to have relationships in school is dumb, but for 3 months I was just completely broken. I sat downstairs in the basement all day, wasting away, doing nothing, just sitting on the same bean bag every day and every night, while also feeling completley detached from everything and almost constantly exhausted. One of the only things that kept me holding on was this song, even if it's not about what I had just described, it seemed to heal my soul little by little everyime I listened to it. Eventually, I moved, but I still have dreams about that house, and the emptiness, and the loneliness that came with the virus outbreak, and everything else, but through all that, this song was still here for me. I always come back to it during moments of depression and just lose myself in it, because it always feels good. :) Thank you for coming to my ted talk lol

A good long time friend showed me who they really were about 10yrs ago. After Float On came out, he asked if i knew Modest Mouse. Of course that only song. After he showed a couple albums, i became hooked and this song makes me think of him and how close he was to his family. Great times brother and thanks for showing me who they really are.

What a beautiful new Modest Mouse song that I've never heard before in my life! This sounds like the kind of song that would still be a hardcore classic even nearly a decade and a half later, for sure. These lyrics and the way the song escalates, so good. You should be really proud of this song guys, it's so good and I'm sure it'll be important to a lot of people even, say, going into the decade after the decade after the decade that it's released in.

Brings me back to 2007 and the sad changes going on in the adventure of my life. Reality was setting in as the rush was subsiding. Was 27 years old and beginning to understand I wouldn’t be young forever and was going to have to live with the consequences of my choices.

I remember the first time I listened to this, October 23, 2016, and for some reason listening to this song on that specific day was some life changing ordeal, and helped me get a sort of feel of what it would be like to have a "song you listen to when you need a relaxing moment to reflect on life over". I feel like if I listened to any other song that day, or this one on any other day, it would not have touched me the way it did. But it was a perfect combination that day. Lol I lost my virginity to this song in 2008. We were together for 10 years. 13-23. Our relationship fell apart after our daughter was born. I still miss him every day and listening to this song reminds me of a time when I was actually happy. I’m a single mom now. He doesn’t see her. She’s almost 6. He lives 10 minutes away from us but refuses to see us because it’s too painful for him to see me. I can understand that because every time we see each other it’s like we’re kids again. Young stupid and in love. I pray every night god brings us back together when we’re old. I was supposed to spend my life with him. We’re both almost 30 now and it still hurts as much as it did 5 years ago. I don’t know if I’ll ever move on having to look at our daughter every day seeing him all over her. They’re twins. And man does it hurt sometimes. Just to see the things in her I used to love about him so much. It’s not fair.
