These are very substantial changes! It's rare (and refreshing!) to see such quality of work go into a motorcycle in India. You've pulled an amazing job off... can't wait to hear more about the riding experience. Many of these items would be rather expensive for the average motorcyclist here... but there's no harm in dreaming :) The Indian two-wheeler aftermarket has exploded over the last few years - especially in the adventure-touring domain - so here's hoping that local companies come up with affordable options soon. I ride an Xpulse myself, and I honestly believe long-travel suspension bikes are the most sensible choice in this country. Stay safe, and keep riding!

Bosky is intelligent, knowledgable, honest, informative, humble, witty .. and if you read (hear) between the words .. a bit naughty too 😊 . A good sense of humour is needed, its a respite from the seriousness of technical discussion. Good way to keep it all interesting overall. 👍 If I am not mistaken Bosky has a Corporate High Position background. Very evident from his body language and diction. Nice to see such sophisticated well-educated smart riders. I am personally tired of beards, beer, tobacco, tattoos, all muscles and no brains types of riders of America and their copycat counterparts in India. This channel is a welcome change for those who like pure riding minus the non-sense and noise.

Ah ! Was actually missing your videos Mr Boski !! My 2 cents. 1: Itidum spark plug , ngk has one specific for himalayan. 2: spitfire spark cable. 3: Feeflow exhaust, people have got the stock exhaust modified to freeflow keeping the noise to near stock (exhaust stuffed with glasswool or steelwool) as well, you just need a good mechanic. These three should give you a minor performance bump.

This was an absolutely amazing transformation! I loved that you explained the stock crash guards and about having sharp points on the bike. I have always felt the same and never traded off anything for safety. I think you have made huge weight savings from the tank guards and wheels and sprocket. I do not have much idea about the weight and performance of the stock exhaust, but I found the Power rage exhaust to be much similar to the stock, might consider looking at that if it is worthwhile. I am inclined in favour of not modifying the stock motor characteristics, but I have seen most mods using aftermarket camshafts, could you please also comment on advantages and disadvantages? The most important of all, I have found out from a difficult experience that the stock alternator is fairly anemic. Could there be some way to improve the electricals too? The main headlight simply doesn't cut it. About the YSS kit, could you please also share your experience of how the bike feels in corners and handling on braking? Thank you once again for making this bike so much better! Regards.
@bigbearbangalore
@bigbearbangalore Год назад
I am glad that you like it, thanks. Yes, on the weight saving I hope that when we measure it will be a good number. On the crash guard and top rack place am happy to hear that too see it the way I do. I have heard of the Powerage exhaust and I shall check on the noise and weight, thanks. I am not a fan of modifying the motor mechanicals. Most aftermarket mechanical engine parts move performance from one place to another in the rev-band and take away the all round capability of most engines, so I choose to stay away from them. Wrt the alternator am afraid there is little that can be done. Re-winding locally is not a reliable solution hence not recommended. The YSS is much firmer than stock and can take a bit of aggressive riding. We had tested this kit and have a video posted about the YSS several months ago and hence was able to take the call to go for it. Of course, it is not as plush as the stock but firm and more stable at all speeds in comparison. Cheers!

I was always curious if crash guards should be deformable under impact or not as in cars we have crumple zones to absorb impact energy. So the RE crash guards do make sense because much of the impact is not going into the chassis frame. Aftermarket guards as said are very large. Maybe a small amount of heat also my be trapped. Nice classy Himalayan there, thanks for making this video.
@bigbearbangalore

I found your video extremely helpful. I have a doubt which is eating up my mind for a long now. 1. Does new Himalayan BS6 comes with electronic lock on top speed? I have tried to test it on highway many times, tried to drag over 120 but it never crossed the 120 kmph threshold 2. Read in online forums that people have claimed that they achieved between 140-150 kmph speed but I’m not able to achieve it no matter how much I try to push. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to add modifications (like ECU) Your feedback is most important. Appreciate your technical analysis of the bike. PS I have Himalayan BS6 sleet black model and have clocked around 1500 kms running as of now. I don’t want to be impatient and try pushing the machine but I’m clueless
@bigbearbangalore

Hello. The Himalayan is electronically limited on rpm hence top speed is limited to about 120-125. More top speed is possible with addon ECU which removes the limiter. Acceleration improvements can be done with BMC air filter and FuelX Pro units, which is what I recommend. Regards.

Hello. The rear you can consider the 18" Interceptor rear aluminium rim from any RE spares shop. And then you will need to lace them with the proper spokes and you'll need to buy a suitable tubeless rear tyre. Suitable front 19" alu rims are hard to get so you'll need to live with the steel. And since 95% of flat tyres happen on the rear, you may change just that and install the Outex kit. Cheers!

One more question, the easy clutch reduce the travel of the clutch, does it makes any impact on clutch plates and gear changes??
@bigbearbangalore
@bigbearbangalore Год назад
Yes, in theory it does reduce the degree of plate disengagement in proportion to the throw of the lever. So, one will need to pull the lever more around the hinge to maintain the full disengagement, if you get what I mean. And since the lever is soft, this is easy to do. So, no harm to the plates or gearbox. Of course, it is recommended to not idle for long in gear with the clutch pulled in. There is bound to be some drag. Cheers!

These mods will reduce it to 188 Kgs. Still same mods can be done on Yezdi Adventure which is still 210 Kgs, that tank guard weigh 8kg so even it's weight reduces to 188 Kgs but with more powerful engine. This makes sense to own Yezdi Adventure more than Himalayan

@bigbearbangalore Год назад
The Scram is a good motorcycle. And coincidentally we have a video of our take on the Scram that'll be uploaded on this Thu night. Request that you view it. And a very good question, yes why not the Scram you ask. Valid point and we did not select one because it's got a 19" front, does not have the chassis bracket to support the headlamp and meter console, poor seat for adventure touring, no rear rack, poorly designed side covers. And while we can address most with the mods, a couple of them we cannot modify without welding work which we want to avoid. All the mods we do are reversible without involving cutting or welding. Besides the Scram is only in BS6 and it's harder to make it go faster than the BS4. And the BS4 comes with Keihin Japanese FI system while the BS6 (bar a few first lot) come with the Indian Continental FI electronics. There is a marked difference between them in terms of throttle response. Cheers!
