This is the pre-ride briefing we give to all our students on the day of their Module 2 motorcycle test. Best of luck to you! Thanks for watching. Please comment, like, subscribe and share. See you soon, Leanna
I was told by my instructor that it’s not advisable - if you were to make an error in filtering where you would have been safer to hold back, you’re likely to be marked down - possibly fail.
I wouldn't recommend it. However I have known of examiners in exceptionally bad traffic when it's safe to suggest students could "make their way past the traffic if they feel confident to do so", butt hat doesn't mean they should do it without being give the go ahead first. It is rife with risk and much easier to miss something and cause faults etc. Good question though, I should've included this! Thanks 😊
Thanks for the advice,I filter on my wee 125 at the moment, but way up the risk with the reward, got my mod1 on 08th April in Notts, with Two Wheels 👍👍
@@motorcyclelessonsukIsn't that kind of like saying 'If you feel like risking everything for the sake of waiting a minute or two, go ahead? I think that's a fair comment on an Advanced test, I'm not sure that's 'fair' on your first test. Kind of damned if you do, damned if you don't. You're already under enough stress as it is without making it harder on yourself. I hope I'd have had the sense and strengh to wait. (Just my opinion)
I think its worth emphasising how quickly its over, you'll be back in the test centre before you know it, just try not to do anything dumba$$ for 35 minutes and you will pass.
I always remember my driving instructor telling me to get up to speed quickly as you dont want to be holding people up, great advice that a lot of drivers still dont do. 🚗
Thanks for all your amazing videos. They have definitely helped me pass both my Mod 1 and today I passed my Mod 2. Keep up the excellent work. Thanks again. Phill
passed my test late last year but i still watch your videos as i find them informative. is it odd to miss doing my lessons? got to ride a lovely SV650 and i enjoyed learning.
Just passed MOD2 and I wanted to thank you for you videos - they have helped me enormously over the last few months, not just in passing but in developing my riding skills - the examiner was pleased and asked where I had learnt my positioning skills - well I learn't them from these videos - brilliant channel !
I took the test in Sweden last year. I remember the warm-up ride and practice with slow- and high speed maneuvers I had before the actual test, it felt terrible. I felt so off and disconnected. But I decided to not dwell on it. A while later during the test, I did put my foot down towards the end of the first half of the slow speed maneuvers part. That's not automatically a fail but when we practice obviously you shouldn't put your foot down unless the test calls for it. Either way, I briefly bobbed my head and shook it in disappointment but quickly decided to finish the rest of the maneuver strong. It went well, I went really slow and without putting any feet down. The examiner didn't even ask me to redo it (you get one redo in total, for both tests combined). When I performed the high speed maneuvers test it went swimmingly, no issue at all. In traffic, there were a couple of situations where I thought I had messed up. But as Leanne says, put it behind you and live in the present. In the end it wasn't an issue and I got my A-license, first try!
Great advice, I passed my mod 2 in oct last year. I remember being nervous right at the start, and then it felt like I was just out for a ride, and then it was done and I passed. Can't wait for the weather to improve. I watched a lot of your stuff before the test, super helpful!
Leanna's videos are free tuition, i watched all the mod 2 vids before my test. Like she even mentions here, i thought i had failed but ended up with 3 minors. Examiner was great but he still grilled me about the 3 minors and went over them with me. Like most people say Mod 2 is easier than Mod 1and i agree..
Finding your content extremely informative and hopefully useful. I'm a returning rider planning on taking the full DSA test soon. I rode years ago when you could use a 250cc on L plates without taking a test!!!! so wish I'd taken the ride around the block test back then. Only wish that I could have you as my tutor, thanks again.
Thank you, that's very kind 😊. Well the good news is you should be a better rider once trained now, rather than back then as there is more focus on skills and road safety 👍
I was very lucky.... I passed in 1976....😲 I hadn't had any training......so I had no choice but to ride how I always did. I'd been riding for about 16 months. (Honda SS50 (before your time probably...ask the other half...then a Yamaha RS100) Luckily, my examiner stood on a street corner and observed from afar...🙂 I got 'lost'...😲 His fault ...IMO...even now 🙂 He sent me around again on a 'condensed' circuit... I knew what he was looking for...shoulder checks (probably more important back then on a test than they are now?? You couldn't do anything without a shoulder check back then...and I probably still 'overdo' it now ) and a left turn that doubled back on itself...say 120'.... then just as I started to accelerate, he did an 'emergency stop'....Anyway...I passed. I'm not sure if it's still the same now, but I made 'errors' on my bike and car test in my eyes, never 'give up' because you've made a mistake, put it behind you and carry on and ride your best ride.
Just wanted to say I passed my Mod2 today and these videos really helped me. I watched this one the night before my test and I felt much more at ease. Keep doing what you’re doing, you’re a fantastic teacher.
I've just watched this again Leanna thanks. Always good to see your stuff on here. I try to narrate like 'your eyes' video sometimes. Man that's hard work when you're not accustomed to speaking and riding! 😆 I don't have an intercom set, have no friends i regularly ride with, no action camera, just my thoughts. Hopefully that will all change over the nicer months.
Haha yes it's a bit tricky even when you're used to talking and riding. Mouth doesn't work as fast as brain 😂. It's worth having a helmet camera for insurance purposes.
I think having a 125 helps during the learning process as you can practise what you are being taught between lessons. Just having a bike and not having lessons can be worse because you can develop bad habits without even knowing it. Thanks 😊
Love your videos, watched so many on the run up to my test at Nottingham and passed first time. 1 minor for stalling at a junction 🤦♂️ Heavy traffic, people flashing me out from one way but not the other, I was shaking my head telling myself off for a good 5 minutes, examiner was laughing about it when we got back 🤣
@@Studiggler well done on passing, fabulous news 👍🏻. Might be worth revisiting the videos in the most common mod 2 mistakes playlist, as a refresher from time to time. I say to my students each fault is a safety issue where you could have done something to keep yourself safer, so it's worth staying on top of small mistakes. Enjoy your new licence 😊
I absolutely love the way you talk, you sound like a pilot, I'm taking my mod 2 this Wednesday so I'm prepping hard to be calm cool and collective. Thanks you for this informative video your awesome 👌
This is exactly what my instructor said to me. He was just like you, confidence inspiring. Also said forget about the guy behind you ride my ride only you've got a sat nav in your ear, so happy days👍👍great vid leanna keep up the rockin🔥🔥
out of curiosity was this filmed at a weekend? i'm brushing up on the highway code and noticed at the end of the video you use a bus lane which is only for buses and cyclists, although i can't see if it's just 2hrs in the morning or all day on the sign
I've no idea when I filmed it sorry. I should think however that if I'm using the bus lane it's outside of the times on the sign 😉. Thanks for the comment 😊
Hello, this is because on the sign are the times that the bus lane is active. Outside of these times it should be treated as a normal lane. Many thanks, 😊
Great video!! Can I ask please, you decide to go into lane 2 because its less busy than lane 1. What if the opportunity to get back into lane 1 safely doesnt present itself and both sides are going the speed limit, would this be a fail for using the right hand lane when not overtaking, or would the examiner apply some logic and say "they made the right decision and are still on the right as its not safe to come back to the left"?. Thanks in advance!
Hello, thank you, I'm glad you found it useful. Ok, firstly, there is likely to be an opportunity to move back in at some point, secondly, if there isn't the examiner will treat it with common sense as you suggest. Try not to overthink the possibilities... They are endless and you might find yourself in an indecisive muddle as a result 😬
The wrong turn or couple of wrong turns whether on normal instructions or in the independent ride explanation part is gonna make a lot of people calm and positive on their mod2s from now on if till this moment were the opposite for sure
Hi I just come a cross your RU-vid channel. I have been riding for nearly 40 years now and never really found the confidence to get my full bike license until now
Hi leanne I have my mod 2 tomorrow I want to know the rule for a 125 automatic on national speed limit as my bike cannot go that fast Loving the videos really helpful thanks
The examiner will understand, don't worry. Go at a speed that is safe for the conditions and your bike is capable of. If you're very worried, ask them before the test starts. They should put your mind at ease. Thanks for the question and good luck.
In what sense? During lessons students sometimes have to stop on double yellows if split up from the instructor as there is nowhere else to stop, so it's important that they are aware they shouldn't do this on test, unless given permission to do so.
@@motorcyclelessonsuk sorry totally disagree, please read. Waiting and parking (238 to 252) - THE HIGHWAY CODE. PS a part from that i do like your videos
hi Leanne, great video once again 🤣 Really great advice coming from you there, 🙂 I remember in my test just over a year ago! we were going around a big roundabout and my brain just froze on which exit i needed to take and then examiner just said ok Kevin lets take the second exit on the left if you think its safe to do so.. I then realised I missed it and thought it could a fail but just carried telling myself all was good as he Just didn't want to go around the roundabout again 🤣😊 i got a minor for planning. Hope your keeping well? safe ride and stay healthy Kev
Hey, I just want to share this. I was so nervous I took 4 dumps between the ride out with instructor and test. I couldn't pee straight, mouth was dry ,struggled to read number plate even though I couldn't it fine. Then just as I pulled away the examiner asked me if I'd like to clip my helmet up. I shouted have I failed. He replied another four feet and you'd be past the gate. I turned 2nd exit from the wrong lane but still did it..and whoever is reading this you can too. I have a very deeply held belief that I'm not a real person or that I am not proper in someway.. I have no mirrors in my house because I hate myself. But I have done my test. You can too.
Well done on passing. Nerves can be very difficult to deal with. Not that I'm an expert, but so long as you can find some happiness in yourself and your own life, focus on that, rather than measuring yourself against any external expectations or societal norms. There endeth my non-motorcycling advice (I'm better sticking to that 😂)
Just passed my Mod 2, thought I’d failed it as I’d forgotten to cancel right indicator after pulling out of the test centre then it felt like it went downhill from there. Got lost twice and was shaking when I got back. As it turned out I passed with zero faults. Your advice helped a lot, thanks.
Perhaps time to refresh your roundabout approach... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kWfUIKoLKG0.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7vY-YUkByE4.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_35DyqC45C4.html 😉😊
Look up good motorcycle training schools near to where you live. Most offer a taster or introductory lesson as a starting point if you haven't ridden before.
ride it like you stole it the test is all wrong it should be about your skill in riding ,it would be far better on a track where you can show that you have the skill by circuiting the track in under a time . riding slowly on the road requires little skill and you will be caught out on the road when some one pulls out on you and you dont have the riding skill Learn to ride off road first
This channel is about road riding, motorcycle safety, and the skills of forward planning and anticipation as well as machine control. It is not about track racing, so unfortunately your advice and opinions here are not especially helpful.
