Moin Moin Recipe
- 2 Cups Beans
- 200ml water to blend
- Tatashe 3
- Scotch Bonnet 3
- Shombo 4
- Onion 2
- Crayfish Powder 2 Tablespoons
- Vegetable oil 1/4 cup
- Salt 1 Teaspoon
- Curry Powder 2 Teaspoons
- Chicken seasoning powder 2 Teaspoon (depends on the seasoning in your stock)
- Chicken/Beef Stock 150ml (hot)
- Smoked Mackerel deboned 1
- 3 Eggs boiled

In Cameroon 🇨🇲 we call it koki instead of the peppers for redness we add red oil no fish no eggs 😀 we put pepper to make it spicy and use plantains or banana leaf 😊😋

Great recipe. The leaves are not banana leaves. They naturally grow in the forest but they don’t bare bananas fruits. Banana leaves are bigger.

My grandma grew these leaves. We called them "etere." But she grew 2 varieties of them. She said one was for moin-moin and the other was for agidi. She said their flavors were different. Even the people who came to buy from our home made sure they cut the right leaves for whatever they were making. 🤷‍♀️

In the Gambia, we call it "olele". Which is originate from sierreleone and. They make it with foil paper instead but the ingredients are similar. This one is fancy o ☺️

Sisi Yemmie they are not banana leaves. As far as I am aware they don’t have a common English name🤔. The plant’s scientific name is Thaumatococcus daniellii. I just call them Ewe Moin moin. Apparently they are called Ewe eran 🐄 🐐 too😊

Wow, they was a time when Africa didn't mean anything to me then I meant my husband i am so overwhelming with Africa from the movies, the clothes Africa woman look so beautiful in their natural dress and my god I am so ready to be in Africa i haven't had all Africa foods but this is my favourite.

This sure looks yumm, can you share a recipe for coconut moi moi, I use to eat it back in school and tried to make it, it's nice for coconut lovers tho but I haven't seen any recipe on it on RU-vid. Hugs.

Such a clever trick with the blender! I would’ve soaked, then peeled by hand and it would take forever! Great life hack!! Another method is to peel with your food processor. Soak for a few minutes, put in your kneading blade and blend. It saves you the time and energy used for pulsing with a normal blender

Honey beans for moi-moi in this period of bean Gold- omo this is flex. ( I never used 'akara beans' for moi moi but now I had to find it , its slightly cheaper)
