(just an extra thing, but thanks for not using any gendered language for this video either! as a trans guy, looking for resources about periods is often uncomfortable. not portraying periods as a girls-only thing made me very happy.)

The one thing that helped me a lot with menstrual pain was to take pain pills before the pain actually started. The pain comes a bit after I start bleeding for me, so when I start bleeding I immediately take a pain pill. The other thing that helped me was warmth. Thank you very much for explaining this so well and so gender neutral, it's very appreciated and a good resource for people who don't know much about menstruation!

wish i had this when i was younger we were taught why it happened but we werent taught how to handle them like pad sizes,remedies for pain,and tips i was very unprepared and my mom was very hesitant to talk about it but im very glad that you are helping young people about the options they have and that its something not to be ashamed of

Been four years and i still thinktl this helped i started it at 4AM and had no one to talk to, your the best

If you have really bad cramps- stay away from caffeine!! It makes it much worse. I also take Ibuprofen and liquid Tylenol (at the same time) (liquid Tylenol works better for me) and I buy an electric heating pad. It really helps! Also- keep socks on and your legs covered all the time, even in summer. You can also try taking meds before the cramping even starts. It helps keep it under control. And if you leak in the front or the back often, or both, put a pad in the front of your underwear and one in the back slightly overlapping. Then the only way you can leak is the sides, lol. And don’t wear nice underwear! Keep your old underwear for your period.

When I got my period I told my mom what do I do and she said I’ll just put a pad you’ll be fine. I don’t really know much about it but I’m so happy I stumbled on this video and thank you so much.

I thought I knew everything I needed to know about how to deal with my periods. I'm twenty now and you were the first person to show me why the plastic covering is on the tampon. It never occurred to me that's what it was for and just makes me so happy that I'm not weird for hating putting in tampons... I say like I've done that before. I tried once and it felt so wrong and gross, all on top of an awful mess, so I planned on never using them. Now that I know the plastic isn't just weird packaging, I may just have to try them again. Thank you ❤ my mom was a abusive. She also never decided to teach me the basics of anything, or anything regarding hygiene. I didnt even know you weren't supposed to wipe back to front until I was 16 😭. She thought you couldn't wear a tampon if you were a virgin and never bought me them( even if she called me a whore). I borrowed 1 once at school but didnt know how to properly put it in and it ended up being really painful cause I put it in wrong. I haven't tried again since but thank you for this video ❤

My mom made me get an implant when I was 15 and I quit having periods after I had only had two cycles my entire life! Im moved out this year, got my implant removed and started having periods again. I was thinking the other day about how my mom left when I was 2months old i met her after that at age 11 when I started my period she was around but then as soon as she found out she left again she didn’t want to teach me these things so I had to have my dad help me and that was the most embarrassing moment of my life. I have a mom and she’s the best mom in the world, but I live with my dad who is 5 states away for the summer, so you’re very helpful because he doesn’t know much about women, and he mostly isn’t the very best dad. He struggled with even the thought that I’m almost 13 and the word period and pad, he stutters a lot when I ask him to take me to the store for pads and even razors. And considering I see my mom for only the school year, which I’m planning to not live with my dad anymore when I’m 13, so I don’t know much about periods. I have had mine since I was 9 but I have horrible memory and this is such a good refresher for me. Also, Mum, what do I do if my pad has wings?

I was thinking maybe you could also do a vid about cleaning period and discharge stains I know jezebel has an article about cleaning discharge stains And that for periods u have to use cold water to clean not hot and hydrogen peroxide is helpful And this is a common problem so i was thinking it would be cool to share this information on your channel and also any other tips u may have on the matter

I first got my period around 4 years ago, is it something concerning if I still don’t have a usual schedule? Like I go a few months without a period, the last one I had was early July. My periods itself are relatively normal, they’ve always been super heavy for my whole life but they don’t last longer than 7+ days
