The saddest thing is when you don't even know if you're depressed or if you're just too dramatic

It’s like one minute your happy with your parents the next you lock your self in a room and cry

The worst part is when they think you are sleeping and they start talking shit about you, it makes you feel. different. it makes you feel, terrible. it hurts you inside, and they just dont know it, but when you talk to them about it they start either saying that you just need to start acting differently, or, they will defend themselves, not even taking your feelings into consideration...

the worst part is when they gossip about you to other adults.

It's funny how parents don't even realize what they're doing to their child, then the parents say it's from being on the internet like it's not their fault

the worst thing is that you have issues outside and inside your house. You feel like crying all the time and don't have a support system

I hate my dad so much, I swear. He genuinely makes me feel like locking myself in my room and not talking to him. He always finds a way to make a normal conversation into a big deal and make others feel bad. He makes me hate my life and I hate him. I always will.

I have a toxic mother and I have been depressed for more than 2 years, I'm fifteen now and it all started since my early teen years. I can feel my mom getting more and more toxic with every passing day and now I have got used to it and when she says terrible things it doesn't hurt me anymore but it worsens my depression and I end up having a mental breakdown remembering about how I have been treated in the past and all the traumatizing experience I have gone through. After having a mental breakdown from anger and sadness I feel completely exhausted and it affects my daily life. I have been trying very hard to heal all by myself but after days of progress when I finally think I'm happy and doing better she just crushes it all by arguing and throwing insults at me and mocking me for my studies. She ends up playing the victim in every argument saying that I am ruining her life just because I don't study properly and don't get good grades anymore like I used to. She found out about my depression almost a month ago but I didn't tell her willingly. She found out because she read my diary where I wrote so many personal things and it infuirates me to even think that someone read it without my permission. She didn't admit to me that she read it but I'm sure she did because of the way she acted for a few weeks after that happened. One day in an argument she suddenly said that I am depressed because I stay on my phone all day. She said that I am the one responsible for my depression. I just had enough of her shit at that point and since then even her presence is enough to frustrate me. She has no idea how much I have suffered and how much I am still suffering, how dare she blame me for my depression when the real reason behind it is the trauma that she caused me? I never confronted her because I knew that no matter what I said she'll always play the victim. I just want to get away from her as soon as possible. In her presence I will never be able to have a good mental health. She's very manipulative and she guilt trips and gaslights. Maybe she does it without reasling but now that I'm older I feel sorry for myself as a kid when I got manipulated by her so easily. Now that I think about some of those incidents I can clearly see what was going on. And you know what the most disturbing part is? Even after being so toxic and causing so much trauma she acts so sweet the next day as if those incidents never happened, as if those arguments were never real. How can she act so normal and sweet the next day after threatening me with a goddam knife just because I refused to obey her? It annoys me so much. I'm starting to feel so hopeless, I just can't stand her presence anymore. I want to get away from her but I can't since I'm a minor.

My parents don’t even let me use social media until I’m 16. They always doubt me and I can never open up to them. Sometimes I cry at night and put on a happy face to go to school. They said they will never buy me a phone ever and I’m not even allowed to get a job to buy myself one. They always fight with each other and I can’t cope with it. I just hope my life brightens up.😢

I'm jealous of those who has good relationship with their parents.

my mom doesn't understand depression. there's this woman that literally has everything. •money •love •fame everything good you can think of. but that woman is still depressed. my mom thinks that the woman is just overreacting, because the woman has everything. so, when I told her I had depression, my mom thinks I'm just copying my cousin that also has depression. that's why I keep everything to myself.

I watch these videos as a father. To be mindful of any potential harm I could be doing to my child. I agree with a lot of things listed in the video. I strongly believe you should support your child's dreams no matter how far fetched they seem because you never know they might have what it takes. All it takes is a little care and nourishment from the parents and great things could happen.

Experienced 9 of 10 things through my childhood, which leads to the government removed me to a foster family when I was 15 years old after my suicide attempt, and have moved out as 17 year old 270 km from my mother to finally being to work with my childhood trauma and mental health. Now I’m 21 years old and live on my own while studying and I cut the contact to my only family… so my mental health does not get bad again. My meds help, but the abuse is still there.

The 10 part hits, because my mom says that it's part of my age and it'll go away eventually. If I need help I can (and I am in therapy) search for therapist, but I don't feel comfortable talking about what I talk about with my therapist to her.

My entire life I have been trying to make my parents proud especially my dad but they have never cared or even seem proud. They always treat my sister better than me, thats I hated her so much and we fight everyday, but im always that gets blamed and punished. I grew so tired of their treatment that I started losing trust to anyone, ignoring them, and basically spent all day on my devices not caring about anything or anyone except my studies. But those doesn't matter anymore cuz im now in a different place studying to be a pilot and I haven't talked to them for about 4-7 years

When your parents just point out the negativity and ignore the good things that you have worked hard on instead of providing actual support, love and appreciation for who you are.

I find the thing that disturbs me the most is they dont let me follow my dreams and always expect me to be perfect, and when I fail to do that I get punished way more than I should. They also say that im not happy with anything anymore and that I have no interest, while litterally stopping me from following my dreams

I always wanted to be a professional classical musician and my adoptive mother didn't allow me to study music at the conservatorie when I was a child and now I'm stuck in a career path that I hate and what I wish was my profession as a hobby. Some parents gives us their best gift when they die.

It was always strange for me seeing friends with their parents and having good relationships. I wondered what was wrong with them until I found out that what they had was the way it should be.

all theses things i relate to. and i have had trama ever since i was 3 years old. my parents never stop arguing. and it so usuall i dont mind it. its so bad when i hear crying i dont care anymore im just going to get hit. and i close my door without locking it and im "hiding" and threatens to rip my door off . today i was being draged into a conversation and i always try to avoid my mom and dad because i dont feel safe around them. i told my dad that youtube is worse than personal training and he got so mad he yelled at me for so long saying "your lucky you have this that blah blah blah" but the best basketball players were in there day and didnt have youtube. i got hit multiple times and now i ended up "why does my family make me feel worthles" and i somehow ended up on this video. i hope everyone is having a good life. remember god is with you.

This is what im going thrue rn, I have my own dreams but my parents don't care about them all they do is look at my grades and blaming me for being bad and have no hopes for me. They push me to a limit where I wish I never exist anymore, I don't even have a person to turn to if I have issue with something. I hope one day this will get better and that people are having it much better then what I have it like.

My dad is nearly all these things. I live with my brother, dad and myself. Didnt grow up with a mom around. Im 24 now. My dad use to be very very angry towards me and my older brother and he'd just lash out at us. Sometimes at very small things and if we'd make a slight mistake he'd lose it very easy. He'd hit us plenty as well. He didnt support me as much as id like when i was going thru my early years of depression and anxiety. He wasn't very emotionally available or open that much. Still isn't. He's got his problems and trauma, too. Our relationship is very distant, emotionally especially. His presence a lot of the time makes me uncomfortable. I can never fully feel relaxed around him.

You overlooked an important factor that's more common than we think: parents showing favoritism to one sibling and disregarding the other/s. The favored child can "do no wrong", no matter what, and the other/s "never do anything right", often ignored or compared to the one who's favored or getting the blame for things they didn't do. My younger brother and I grew up in this kind of household. It was humiliating, to say the least. We're in our 60's now and to this day we "don't have an older brother". He's Mom and Dad's firstborn. Nothing more.

my parents do 2, 3, 5, 6, and 10. I know they probably don’t mean it, but i have lots of problems that i cant talk to them about. Sometimes they even call my sister fat/overweight and yell at her to lose weight. They also get mad when she doesn’t get all A’s. Me and my sister hate how they can be sometimes. We have even become afraid of them overtime. But we cant do anything about it.
