"Although on the TaunT channel I do already reaction videos, it was time to do some solo as well. Over here I can choose myself (at TaunT I never know what is coming) and I can go deeper into the lyrics from a mental health perspective . I will primarily react as a mom but I am also bringing my years as a therapist and mental health counselor on the table"

If you want more ballad style, try out Geoff's Shenandoah, Ain't No Sunshine, Blackbird and High and Dry on his solo channel, or VoicePlay's True Colors, I Can't Make You Love Me, Unchained Melody, The Bones, The Heart of Life, Can't Help Falling In Love and Bridge Over Troubled Waters.

If you want a ballad, may I suggest VoicePlay's "I Can't Make You Love Me", and if you get through that without crying, you're a much stronger woman than I am. There will be a different line-up, by the way. They lost Earl, who did the 'You're Welcome' part of the Moana Medley, and he's been replaced by the wonderful Cesar de la Rosa. Layne (beatboxer), Geoff and Eli (bald tenor) remain with the group and they are still trying to find a fifth member, so you will usually see someone credited as a 'featured' performer helping them out. By the way, almost all of VoicePlay's arrangements are done by Layne or Geoff, Layne did this one and Geoff did the arrangement for 'I Can't Make You Love Me." Geoff also does solo work where he records and films himself doing multiple parts, not strictly accapella, he will add some instrumentation to the vocals. His two most beautiful and touching covers for me are "Ain't No Sunshine", which was a hit years ago for Bill Withers and "Shenandoah", an American folk song. Hope you will check out more VoicePlay and/or Geoff. Geoff I believe was about 37 when Moana was filmed, he's 42 now, but very young-looking for his age.

@@MommaTaunT The VP/Geoff fans tease that both his skin and beautiful hair owe their especial loveliness due to the fact that he bathes in the tears of other singers who are frustrated not to have the depth and range of his voice, LOL. My top three favorites of VoicePlay's christmas songs are 1) You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch-but I don't know if your're familiar with the American Christnas show of Dr. Suess' How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which it is taken from, 2) Baby, It's Cold Outside-I know some people consider that a controversial song, I take it at face value for the time it was written and first performed, and 3) Oh, Holy Night, this last one also features Rachel Potter. Geoff has done two outstanding Christmas songs by himself: 1) God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, a solo, and 2) Mele Kalilimaka, which was originally performed by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters, Geoff performs his version with the wonderful 'The American Sirens'

Yes Moana is a Disney movie. VoicePlay also did The Little Mermaid too, and they do a lot of Disney as they've worked in Disney productions in the past. And yes they are sometimes known as the Thatre Kids of Acapella. Two beautiful harmonious pieces I sometimes recommend at True Colours, and Can't Help Falling in Love, but there many more of course. Also you could look into Geoff Castellucci's own channel of low bass covers, that's him there, and yes he is pretty, no doubt about it. :)

With Rachel, you could check out their Little Mermaid Medley, Phantom of the Opera, or the Wicked Medley (for emotional, definitely recommend the Wicked Medley).

Voiceplay do lots of genres and excel at all of them. They're known as the #theatrekidsofacappella. They have a background of working at Disney so have a great amount of fun making their medleys.. Geoff has a solo channel and has covered some beautiful slower music. Shenandoah is a particular favourite of mine... For Christmas I think Voiceplay's baby it's cold outside is beautiful... Geoff's version of Mele Kalikamaka is fantastic, as is his God rest ye merry gentlemen.. For fun and bouncy Christmas I would suggest you're a mean one mr Grinch which is from an animated film.

VoicePlay is definitely more theatrical. They like to give us the whole package when they do a video. They have full creative control over everything they do. No big studios helping them with payroll so they get to do what they want. Their voices are just so fantastic and Rachel sings with them alot. They have other guest singers and they always manage to blend really well with them. Geoff, the bass and Layne, the beatboxer usually arrange all the songs they sing. I hope you get a chance to follow them down the VoicePlay rabbit hole it is quite a trip. I look forward to seeing you react to more of them.😊

Welcome to Voiceplay's rabbit hole 🙂. This is a relatively old video, they had a few changes since... Earl ("Maui") left the group for personal reasons, allegedly related to a health scare he had. Meanwhile J None came in, to replace the previous baritone Tony, and after a couple years he left to join the Army. He's been back as a guest singer in "Friends on the other side". Then Cesar de la Rosa became a permanent member of the group as a Bari-tenor, and they're still looking for a new permanent member to "complete" the lineup. While waiting, they have "featured guests" who are always top notch and get to blend together as if they had always been there. 🙂 And yes, they're said to be the "Theater Kids" of the a cappella scene. This is nothing, theatrically speaking, when compared to some (many...) more recent performances... 😁 BTW, Geoff also has a "solo" channel, where he does "bass singer covers" and shows his incredible voice and range singing ALL the parts and "cloning" himself into all and every character you see on the scene. Definitely worth exploring. 🙂 I'll leave suggestions to others... Or, if you prefer, I'd suggest to explore both of the channels "randomly", at least at the beginning. You can't fail with these guys... 😁 Oh, if you love low voices, you should check another very special a cappella group named "The Bass Gang". 🙂

If this is your first VoicePlay video then I am so excited for you. Yes, Homefree is great as is Pentatonix, but VoicePlay play is a brand new world all their own. Welcome to the Voiceplay rabbit hole. They are phenomenal performers and seem like genuinely great guys. Rachel does quite a few collabs with them and she is fantastic as well. Geoff's favorite solo arrangement that he's done is a cover of Radio Head's High and Dry. For Christmas I would recommend Geoff's God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen and Mele Kalikimaka And Peter Hollens cover of Grown Up Christmas List or his original song Let the Light in.

The bass is Geoff Castellucci and he has a lot of solo stuff and those are the best to listen to if you want to hear his really low notes and his incredible range. If you like ballads, check out his version of Ain't No Sunshine

All the major a cappella groups are great... VoicePlay just brings something different; their arrangements are incredible and normally done by either the beatboxer/baritone singer/rapper/and vocal effects guy, Layne and also by Geoff, the bass (if you want to call him that with his 5 octave vocal range that extends higher than most tenors and over an octave lower than most basses), which both have musical backgrounds. I am a musical composer and love breaking down VoicePlay's compositions... there is nothing elementary about anything they put together. To the contrary, they tend to take the original songs and with a little musical theory knowledge, they will change it up a bit to something of their own and different.

I think everyone covered most everything Voiceplay 101 but I just wanted to add to the Disney movie Moana info. Lin Manuel Miranda did the songs for it. He won a Grammy Award for the song "How Far I'll Go" that you heard Rachel sing here.

Geoff is amazing! A others have said his solo work is exceptional. Check out Shenandoah, Blackbird, and High and Dry for ballad type songs. Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold ( from The Hobbit) isn't exactly a ballad but another great one. Voiceplay has Tennessee Whiskey and I Can't Make You Love Me for a couple of ballads, but they have so much great stuff, always with a little (or a lot) of fun.

This is a great place to start your VoicePlay journey! Their lineup has changed a bit since it was released, but Rachel is also a featured vocalist in their medleys from Wicked and The Showman. If you'd like to hear the current members and some other amazing guests show off their strengths, Hoist the Colours, We Don't Talk About Bruno and their recent cover of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters can't be beat. But Oogie Boogie's Song is probably the single VoicePlay performance that packs the most concentrated Geoff bass punch.

VP does theatrical, cartoon and fantasy like Wicked, We Don't Talk About Bruno, Hoist the Colors and Dragonborn. All amazing performances! Geoffe has a collection of solos 16 Tons, Headless Horseman, Ghost Riders and so many more. All great, worth watching. Pentatonix does pop/rock and are more woke liberal. Home Free are country/oldies good old boys. HF and VP are great friends and often jump into each other's pieces. Like the best 10 of AMC and Ring of Fire.

Geoff has his own channel, you should check out Big John or anything he has covered. You really picked the weakest link (in my opinion) of their catalogue. I personally like the oogie boogie song, Host the colors and one other I can't put my finger on. Ant way Love yur reactions keep going.
