Oh boy. My sister and I had wild friends. Fun times. We’d get drunk and go screaming down dirt and gravel roads, eight of us stuffed into a convertible corvette. The road had heavy large truck traffic, we’d turn on the road sit on the back of the rear seat put our arms in the air and just scream as we fantailed down the road. So much fun

My mom, a Boomer, was WAY into the music of the 60s & 70s. Her dad (my grampa) vehemently disapproved. She was scolded over it. He himself was into swing (considered racy and inappropriate at the time) and was scolded by great grampa who strictly listened to classical music and opera. My mother, in turn, was disappointed in me when I began listening to grunge in the early 90s. Cycles DO need to be broken, like some of the people in the video mentioned. I don’t have any children but I’d like to think that there isn’t any type of music I’d forbid my children (if I had any), from listening to. I’d probably find it cringey if they listened to reggaetón, mumble rap, or modern country, but I wouldn’t lecture, punish, or make them feel embarrassed for it like I and those that came before me were.

My mother has mostly had a normal life (Apart from the fact that her mother had died when she was very young) and has been with my father since she was 18/19. So I reckon if she was hiding some big secret then it would most likely be either that she has another child (most likely older than me and my sister) that nobody knows about, she experimented with other girls before meeting my father, or that something really terrible (Besides losing her mother) happened to her when she was a child.

This should be retitled "Why I don't associate with my parents and just tell everyone they're dead".

Wow. Did you get therapy help or do you think you’ve coped well after going through knowing the circumstances? It must have been hard.

Not mom, soon to be dad. I'm almost as boring and vanilla of a person as there is, but my kids won't know a lot of the things their mom did when she was young (Indian Rez kid), and they won't know my parents. They will have limited contact with hers, if that. Her parents are a struggle to deal with, at best, and I have no desire to expose my kids to the way they live on the Rez. My parents are in a cult and would likely go against my wishes to try to indoctrinate my children if left unattended. As it is, they're not talking to me because I left the cult, so they've made their decision.

i was conceived the night before 9/11... that's always a fun one. my parents were so sure about it because i don't think many people were fucking after that national tragedy, let alone them. i turn 21 in june :)

I fear if I ever have kids which I doubt because I struggle even trying to talk in general so actually finding someone who would spend that much time with me would be impossible but im not going to be a ok father because I can barely take care of myself anymore im 20 but mentally ive deteriorated to only compareable to a zombie thanks 2020 for fucking my life over when I needed help the most to get over suicidal tendencies covis shut that shit down so I couldn't get any help at all im 20 years old but realize im screwed in the long run if I even make it to be 27 itll be a miracle just because of how much damage I did to myself

20 is so young, if you're not in college, go to a trade school. Plumbing, mechanic, trucking school. Or start out in construction, some pay you to get certified, so you can move up quick. I started college a few weeks before 9/11. Living in Las Vegas, I was a cocktail waitress on the strip. Got free classes to learn table games and bartending. Now I'm a bartender making dam good money. Before I was 25 I was depressed broke as shit. 30s is better, bought myself a house and found a guy and got married. Don't be so hard on yourself, a lot can change in a year or 2.

As the comment above states, you are extremely young still. In the UK the adult minimum wage only starts at age 26! So you may feel "old" but you're absolutely not. If you can't deal with people, get a job like parcel delivery driver, etc. If you can't drive then work towards that as a first step instead. If you really want to socialise there's meet up groups for people wanting to do the same as you. Coffee Meets Bagel for example. If all that is too much for you then stay in solitude and develop your hobbies by yourself instead. Anything but sitting staring into space. Please don't do that or it can go on for years, I know because I did exactly that

@@XxWolfman5584xX Maybe consider the military if you think you can at least put your head down and just do what needs to be done. It is extremely helpful for developing mental strength, hard discipline and at the same time can help pay for college and opens a huge amount of doors into many other opportunities for careers and jobs. Aside from the risk of An actual war, it is almost a win win every time. You should at least entertain the idea.
