The advice he giving is if you are rich and are buying expensive cars. If you have a regular job that you can lose any day, don’t get monthly payments. Buy a nice car not a lemon for about 2-3k and it’s yours forever plus you can sell it. Don’t lose your job and get your car repoed because you can’t afford the payments anymore and you will have to pay to fix a car that belongs to the dealership that you already pay the payment for. Both 💵 and credit are tools to be utilized for purchasing power....pick yours ..and master it. Makes more sense to buy a reliable car for 5k or less, and stack up without a car payment, less stress. And fuck what people think, they don’t know what your bank account looks like, so who cares
@ronaldcoleman312
@ronaldcoleman312 3 года назад
@Eimpress Mie because you don’t have the monthly payment. You can then take the money and do other things with it such as save or invest it. Once we understand daily interest calculations the game changes fr. A lot of us think we understand interest but don’t know how much our debt is costing us every single day we wake up. but that’s just my opinion
@ronaldcoleman312
@ronaldcoleman312 3 года назад
@Eimpress Mie I hear you but In my opinion what you are saying is out of context. You shouldn’t want to make payments on something that’s losing value. A car is a means of transportation. We all have transportation expenses for the most part. The person who owns the car doesn’t have the same amount of expenses as the person who has a note or leases a car. Your argument would hold more water if you were saying you’d rather buy a bike instead of a car. But you are suggesting you’d rather rent a car instead of owning a car with no payments. To each it’s own but that doesn’t make sense to me esp if you are constantly trading the car every 2-3 years for a different car lol
@ronaldcoleman312
@ronaldcoleman312 3 года назад
@Eimpress Mie I’m more of a Dave Ramsey guy and what you are saying is more of Robert kiyosaki approach. I don’t think either is necessarily wrong, as long as you understand what you are doing. I just think, for the average person, eliminating the payments of debt, including car leases gives a sense of financial freedom that payments on rental vehicles can’t give you. I’m not attacking your logic I’m just on the other side of the coin that’s all
@ronaldcoleman312
@ronaldcoleman312 3 года назад
@Eimpress Mie as you see, I am familiar with both. I don’t 100 percent agree with Dave at all. ESP when it comes to investing. So I understand you. Dave is good with addressing behavioral spending issues and financial peace when it comes to not being slave to the lender and eliminating minimal payments Robert is for those who are ok with risk and do so in an intelligent manner. Its all about finding balance. Although I’m more of a Dave Ramsey fan as far as his ideology behind debt, the first financial book I read was rich dad poor dad. It’s really all about understanding how you are with risk because you can win either way as long as you are educated on the subject manner, have a plan, and be consistent with implementing that plan.
@ronaldcoleman312
@ronaldcoleman312 3 года назад
@Eimpress Mie there are wealthy people who walk both sides of the isle lol. Just because someone is more frugal than the other doesn’t mean that they aren’t living their best life. Like I said in a previous comment, it’s about understanding your risk tolerance and mindset around debt. And like I said it’s nothing wrong with your train of thought because it’s working for you but let’s not act like someone’s life is better than the others based on the financial advice they choose to follow lol

When I was broke I worried more about owning everything because I didn’t have confidence in myself that I would be able to generate consistent income in the future so I didn’t want to lease or finance because I was terrified of having something repossessed from me but now that I’m older and more stable i don’t fear stuff like that you either go hard or go home I’m a grown ass man I don’t need no safety net I find it funny how people look down on people who lease or finance when really the people who buy cars cash are the brokest they know they don’t get money consistently they just lucked up or saved up and they want to own something that they wouldn’t be able to get back if they run out of bread
@BIGMONEYMEDIA
@BIGMONEYMEDIA 3 года назад
That is one way to look at it because if you got confidence you won’t be scared that you won’t be able to pay but with me i don’t like anybody owning anything I have and I have to follow their rules. If I’m paying payments on a car and it breaks down, I have to pay to get it fixed and pay my payment for that month so the dealership really got over and they get their cars from the auction for very cheap and charge 3x the price all together. If you are not a millionaire, buying a brand new car is a waste whether you’re leasing or paying full price in cash. Soon as you drive the car off the lot it depreciates in value. The average car payments in America is around 500 a month. If you took 500 bucks and invested it every month for over a 30 year period into mutual funds and Roth IRAs. That’s between 4 or 5 million dollars with a good annual returns. A lot of people just out to impress other people with things they can’t afford.

You can still use credit to purchase a vehicle. It’s called a loan. Leasing is renting. The only benefit it provides is being able to ‘pull up in the latest whip’ consistently. But if your cash-flow ever slows down, and you can’t pay that bill, you might regret not having bought the car outright.
@dmack1988
@dmack1988 3 года назад
That’s exactly why I tell myself i will only lease if I have what the car is worth if I cashed out or have the whole lease amount 3 yr term in the bank as liquid cash, example: my ram cost 50k I’m leasing for 480 per month for 36 months that’s 17,3. I either have to have 50 in the bank or the minimum 20k in the bank, the 20 being just for the truck nothing else. I choose to reassure myself that I can afford it even in troubled times so I won’t fuck my credit up. Basically I won’t lease or finance shit unless I have the ability to cash out but I rather lease for 20k over 3 yrs then invest with the rest.

It's not dumb to cash all the way out if that cash out isnt going to affect you big time.. why finance something like a phone or car if you don't have too? Why put yourself on a payment plan and make a consistent payment to the next person to keep them rich?..not I..no dumb debt over here..if you go into debt for a profit generating item..then do it..but everything else..naw.. I have leased a car before no cap..and you pay taxes and not little interest so more of a win than financing.

You have to keep in mind we are listening to a rapper which means he have a business (either self employed or he conduct his business through a LLC) and I’m sure his accountant find ways to write it off because he is using the vehicle for “business purposes.” If you have a business sometimes it does not make sense to cash out, it may be better to finance to continue to build business credit to extend your wealth (assets).
@desdes9470

@@msbeautyboss3784 I see where you're coming from and with an abundance of money you can easily continue to make payments and increase wealth..my way of thinking is just that cashing out does not mean you're tryin to flex or show you have lots of money because if you ask a person why is he or she financing to stay in the latest vehicle..they more than likely cannot give you an objective answer..and I just look at it as in you're(not you..but just in general) financing/leasing as a Flex to stay in the latest to have something to show off to people you don't like or know.

Look y'all, the problem with car payments is that in MOST cases, they're gonna be a significant portion of your monthly income, making it impossible for you to save, invest, etc. If you only making like 1500-2000/month and you got a $500 car payment (average in america is $550), you are really fuckin up. After that payment, rent, food. You're literally broke. What he's saying makes sense, just make sure it makes sense for YOU. know your budget.

Can you help me out. I’m kinda confused in the situation I’m in and not sure the best move. I can be successful either way it goes but... I’m making about 2k month with low expenses besides my $500 car payment. I went to a “bad credit” place with “in house financing” last year when I turned 21 and needed a car fast. I had good credit but not enough history or enough income I guess to go to a dealership. Since then I’ve been making the payments and still been able to stack some money but should I try to get a lower insurance payment or just pay the car off faster? I’m thinking I could use the extra money as “leverage” but not sure what to do

The claim that rich people leverage (i.e. use credit) on everything is completely false. You DON'T finance/leverage depreciating assets. I repeat...YOU DO NOT FINANCE DEPRECIATING ASSETS!!!! This includes cars, trucks, boats, tractors, etc. Rich people finance/leverage assets that produce income. This includes rental real estate, stocks (if possible), precious metals, oil wells, etc. These are assets that actually produce income. Whenever you finance a car, you are losing twice. 1) you are losing on the depreciation and 2), you are losing on the interest. The fact that the comments are "applauding" this advice is scary.
