Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together.
The Mongolic languages are a language family spoken by the Mongolic peoples in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, North Asia and East Asia, mostly in Mongolia and surrounding areas and in Kalmykia and Buryatia. The best-known member of this language family, Mongolian, is the primary language of most of the residents of Mongolia and the Mongol residents of Inner Mongolia, with an estimated 5.7+ million speakers.
The Mongolic languages have no convincingly established living relatives.
The closest relatives of the Mongolic languages appear to be the para-Mongolic languages, which include the extinct Khitan, Tuyuhun, and possibly also Tuoba languages.
Some linguists have grouped Mongolic with Turkic, Tungusic and possibly Koreanic and Japonic as part of the widely discredited Altaic family.
Please feel free to subscribe to see more of this.

The Kalmyks speak the ancient Mongolian language, it remained so because they were surrounded at that time by enemy peoples, lived in Europe for more than 400 years and the language and appearance did not disappear where any other people would have disappeared, forgot the language or the language changed, but not the Kalmyks, they retained their Mongolian glapogroup and appearance and, most importantly, the language that is common in Russia, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Mongolia, that's what kind of people they are

Tuoba was identified as Turkish by Mahmud Kashgari in his Turkish language dictionary book (in 1072). Alexander Vovin identifies the Tuoba language as a Mongolic language. On the other hand, Juha Janhunen proposed that the Tuoba might have spoken an Oghur Turkic language.According to Peter Boodberg, the Tuoba language was essentially Turkic with Mongolic admixture Chen Sanping noted that the Tuoba language "had both" Turkic and Mongolic elements. Liu Xueyao stated that Tuoba may have had their own language, which should not be assumed to be identical with any other known languages.

Yeah, and some of the kalmyks went back to mongolia when it was under the Manchu Qing dynasty to save mongols. They were originally from Zuun gar Khanate. (There were 4 mongol Khanates)But they had gone to river ijil/volga area. Then it was not Russia's land. It was empty land that didn't belong to anyone. And from zuun Gar, they weren't many who went there for peace. But then Zuun gar Oirads genocide happened. Last mongol Khanate that got under manchus. And some of the survivors came to kalmykia. Then the manchu king said come and have your land back and you can save your mongols. So that they went to go to mongolia, they had gone there secretly (bcs of queen ekaterina wanted them as warriors). Anyways, they had planned the whole thing, but they went, and some of them couldn't go because of River ijil (Volga, I think, not sure), was not freezed yet. And they had to leave, so they did, they couldn't risk it. And those people who left behind are today's kalmyks. The rest on their way to mongolia, the queen had informed the kazaks that they were leaving, so you could do whatever they wanted. And if you know kazaks and oirad mongols were kind of enemies. And then the people who they had war for queen Catherine had also wanted revenge from them. So they had wars all the way until mongols border for during their whole trip. So they were running away from queens Catherine's army, kazaks, Kyrgyzs, tatars, and Pashkirs during that time. So only 1/3 of the people who left had come back. But they didn't have the energy or men left to fight with the manchus anymore. So they got under manchus like other mongols, too. But manchus knew that oirads were good warriors and they thought that they might think some other plans to destroy or have war against them. So they made them settle in many different areas that are far away from them in modern day xinjiang and mongolia. Xinjiang, and places of East Kazakhstan and Russia (altai Republic) was where Zuun gar Khanate were, but because oirads population were the only few people who came back from kalmykia at that time, many uyghurs and kazaks went more into their land.

I was surprised to learn that in Kyrgyz, there is a different expression for when you're staying and people are leaving, and when you're leaving and people are staying. I was fascinated by that differentiation when I was first exposed to Korean greetings. Honorifics based on age is strikingly similar as well. I don't know if it's just coincidence but the title of the ruler of both Xiongnu (匈奴) and Buyeo (扶余) both used Chanyu (単于) in Chinese records. There must have been strong linguistic/cultural contact between proto-Turkic and proto-Koreanic speakers somewhere in Manchuria. Proto-Koreanic speakers later migrated southward into the Korean peninsula, where they later mixed with and absorbed indigenous Peninsular Japonic speakers. Interestingly, there is a Korean stone inscription that says the 3rd and final bloodline of the Shilla dynasty (新羅) has Xiongnu roots. Xiongnu was a collection of dozens of mutli-ethnic nomadic tribes covering a large area of the Mongolian Steppe to Manchuria, so it's possible that one of the clans invaded/migrated southward and became the ruling class of Shilla.
