Getting a monopoly player to land on the starting square and yell "no! no! I don't want money!" is an amazing Stalinist victory.

I TOTALLY want to see this game played on Board Game Club with 4 players, but on one condition: Dom MUST return as Stallin to preside over Communopoly!!!

I don't know why, but for some reason the way Dom says "Communist Test!" with such evil excitement is the funniest thing to me.

The stages of grief: 1) Denial - they try to play normally 2) Rage - they complain its unfair 3) Bargaining - they stop buying properties to not die 4) Depression - they start buying properties to die 5) Acceptance - none of it mattered

Just a comment definitely advocating for a 4-player version of this game - this was HILARIOUS!

Dom is surprisingly good at playing a terrifyingly unhinged dictator.

With the disappearance of [REDACTED] it's amazing that Sullivan's only House Rules loss is against Teri in Pictionary. But I don't know how he was meant to win that one anyway. He was either drawing a picture to nobody or guessing a clue nobody was drawing.

It's hilarious how _actually intimidating_ Dom is at various points in this game.

I though Dom badly hiding behind the shelf at the start was going to be one of the greatest parts of this video then he stepped out dressed like that and it just got better from there

Definitely play a 4 player version, seeing Laurie and Jon react to the fairness of the rules would make it worth watching on its own

The funniest part of this version is the idea that the guard you bribe to pass STOY would willingly give you change if you handed over more than 50 Rubles. (14:32)

They seriously need to make this a LEGITIMATE board game. The Rules alone are absolutely fantastic, and the TRUE example of the mindset of a madman :)

Just went back and rewatched this... Sullivan saying, "Now you'll be scrubbed from every board game club" and Dom saying "I don't remember who was hosting...no one I remember" mean so much more nowadays 😅

I for one would love to see this as a full 4 player game. The fact that they created a variant of monopoly that Adam is willing to play again is boarding on the miraculous.

You NEED to play this with a full table. I need the rest of the NRB team to feel this pain or even better actually make a real version of this because its amazing.

Dom was a great addition to this video. His penchant for inflicting misery and pain on Adam and Sullivan is perfect for House Rules, and i'd like to see him as games master for future episodes.

This is the first No Rolls Barred video I've ever watched and quite honestly I would watch a new game of Communopoly every week

I love how the two first characters (who definitely never existed) had wining conditions linked to the number of houses and hotels where there no way anyone can survive long enough to build those

My favourite Stalin fact: Stalin had a sort of twisted humor. When meeting a party member he hadn't seen for a while, he'd go like: "Comrade! What a surprise! Haven't you been arrested yet?" and then enjoy the look on their faces. 🙂 I had a blast watching you play and disappear, thank you! And special thanks to Teri for making it!

Stalin died of a treatable aneurysm or stroke because he had a rule where his guards weren't allowed to interrupt him or they'd "disappear." His last pair of guards disappeared because they burst in when they thought he was being assassinated, when in truth it was a test. The next round of guards didn't fall for this as they didn't wish to die- I mean disappear

This was the role Dom was born for on this channel What an amazing hour, absolutely flew past

This was just amazing. From Dom fitting the role of Stalin perfectly, to all the details in the rules, to ‘no chance’ and ‘communist test’ to how the game actually played out, this was just incredibly entertaining

This was an absolute riot. Dom was born to play this role, and absolutely needs to be cast as such in a movie.

This is the first house rules episode that i want as an actual board game that we can play, and it must come with a prop to designate someone as stalin

I wrote down the rules for myself and thought I should probably paste it into a comment. I filled in the gaps and changed various things to have the game make more sense, and be a bit less overpowered in parts, while still being fun and not for try-hards. I got rid of the win conditions since they're a bit complicated at times and so far I've never seen a house even be built, or smuggled money to the West retained until the end (which still may not change). COMMUNOPOLY (Stalin's glorious version of "Communism") Some set up: - Tax spaces are replaced by cards (now 8 card spaces all up). - A number of blank cards with 1 Trotsky. - Ideally the Soviet Union anthem playing in the background. Rules: - Roll to see which piece you get (just number and roll for all selecting). Each piece has its own ability. - All players start with a generous 1,000 rubles from the State. The State will not give you any more money if it means you then have over 1,000 rubles. - If at any point you have more than 1,000 rubles, you will be taken to a labour camp, and you will surrender all your assets to the state, you dirty capitalist pig. You keep your money (you'll need it), but if you still have over 1,000 rubles when/if you get out of the gulag, you will go to the gulag. - Every time you land ON Stoy! (stop), you receive your generous handout of 200 rubles from the state. If you PASS Stoy, you pay 50 rubles to bribe the checkpoint guard. If you don't have the money, you go to the gulag. - If you roll a double, 3 times, you go to the gulag (rather greedy of you), and they don't have to be consecutive doubles. - Every turn you remain in the gulag, you pay 100 rubles to the gulag guards. You cannot earn any money or build any further development, or own anything while in the gulag. Also if you can't pay the gulag guards, you disappear. - If someone lands on your property, but you are in the gulag, they must still try to pay you, but since you are in the gulag, that money will be redirected. To The State. - When you go to the gulag (unless otherwise stated), you can only leave the gulag when rolling doubles, but if you roll a 1 on any of those dies, you disappear. - If you disappear, all of your assets, cards, and money (including Free Parking money) are seized by the state. You now pick a new piece and start again with 1000 rubles (your next of kin). That person never existed. - You can smuggle money to the West, by first landing on "free parking", and then placing any amount of money there. After that, each full lap around the board back to/passed Free Parking, will result in 100 rubles of that money being successfully smuggled to the West. If you advance to another location through a card, that contributes to your lap (unless you went to the gulag, in which case you start the lap fresh once you get to/passed Free Parking). If any other player lands directly on free parking in the meantime, they keep your money as a reward from the state for ratting you out, and you disappear. The other person who landed on your Free Parking money can put their own money there in the same turn. - If you have property with a building on it, you can also smuggle money when landing there after doing a full lap. Only one smuggling attempt at a time is allowed. You can still be ratted out, which will result in you disappearing. - If you disappear, the successfully smuggled money will pass onto your next of kin (new piece), but Free Parking money will be lost (including with property). - When someone lands on a property and doesn't want to/can't buy it, there is no filthy capitalist auction. - The game ends when the last disappearance occurs, as there are now no next of kin/pieces left for the player to select. - The winner is simply the person who smuggled the most money to the west. If no one successfully smuggled any money to the west, then the Communopoly loss is shared equally. ___ Properties with special rules that you can't purchase from the State with money: The Kremlin (Park Lane/Park Place): - Through pure happenstance, you have gained a certain amount of power on the inside. You can now make as much money as you want, and Soviet leaders will look the other way. You also don't have to bribe the checkpoint guards. NKVD Headquarters (Mayfair/Boardwalk): - 1st time you land there you miss your next turn for questioning. - 2nd time you are taken in and quizzed on doctrine. Wrong answers send you to the gulag. There will be 3 questions. Just a load of really specific and obscure, impossible to know AND impossible to remember questions ALL about John Wayne (Stalin was a big fan). - 3rd time you disappear. No one was even there. Utilities: Chernobyl (Electric company): - This property is entrusted to you for free. You have to take it, but it can be swapped. If you do not own the Water Works, the power plant will explode in 3 turns (starting with your next turn) from overheating through lack of water supply, unless you possess the Water Works. If it explodes, the Electric Company is restored to the board, but all your properties are destroyed in the explosion and can never be bought or developed again. Anyone who lands on it during this time before it explodes, will be forcibly handed the Electric Company, and so it happens to them instead. If you lose the Water Works, the countdown starts again. You are not allowed to trade or sell or give away your properties to other players during this time. Once the Electric Company explodes, you will be put in jail for your crimes against humanity. If you end up in jail before 3 turns, the explosion will happen when you go to jail. Water Works: When landed on, this property can only be acquired by distributing all your properties (including mortgaged properties and not including buildings) to other people, as evenly as one can manage. If you possess the Water Works, anyone who lands on it has to give you all their properties (including mortgaged properties and not including buildings), unless they have no properties, in which case they get the Water Works from you. ___ NO CHANCE (chance): - Denounce your collaborators! (hold onto this card) If you are in the gulag, you can use this to swap your place with someone else. - Party Vanguard Take 3 turns in quick succession - Double Agent Swap pieces with someone else of your choice. - "Accident" You disappear after violently falling out of a window onto some bullets. - Siege of Stalingrad The Nazis have been encircled and outmanoeuvred. Take one of your opponent's properties permanently (minus any buildings on the property). It cannot be bought, sold, given away, or developed, unless you disappear. - Nomenklatura Advance to The Kremlin. If you pass Stoy, you do not have to pay a bribe. - Contribution to the State (keep this card) If you have over 1,000 rubles, you can just pay the excess as a "contribution to the state", and carry on. - Anti-revisionist Miss your next turn. - Go into Hiding Miss your next 3 turns. If your piece ends up on the same space with someone else, you disappear. - Tax Time You owe the state 101 rubles in tax. To help with administrative costs, you will not get any change. The state will also not help you with fussing around over exchanging money for smaller notes on this instance. - Best Seller! Your book is popular. Receive 500 rubles and roll 1 die. On a 6 you stash your money and burn your book before the NKVD arrive. You successfully deny all knowledge. On a 1, all of your assets are seized and you are shot in the head (pick a new piece). Any other number, you keep your money, but you go to the gulag. TO BE CONTINUED, IN THE REPLIES!

love this idea. I feel like the money smuggled to the west shouldn't be removed when someone is disappeared, since if their successor escapes to the west at the end it should still be in the bank since the state doesn't have access to it

idea: every time a player "disappears", a completely new person is brought in, thrown into the midst of a game with no info abt how the game is going

I absolutely want this as a full four-player episode. However, to mix it up and make sure it doesn't end too quickly, add in the four other pieces that got removed and give them their own win conditions too. Otherwise, the disappearances might happen too quickly with four people. But this was a banger!

My favourite Stalin thing is the fact he ordered multiple assassin's to kill Tito, they were all caught. But it goes story that Tito wrote a letter to Stalin saying "stop sending assassin's, because if I send you one, there won't be need to send another one". Story goes, Stalin died soon after.

I really like the contrasting "Try to win" from Monopoly and "Try not to lose" from Communopoly

Both of them realizing and shouting that they want to die before the other just for a chance to win, while "Stalin" is laughing and leaning back in his chair clapping in the background, had me dying of laughter. Funniest thing I've seen in a long time, thanks so much for this

Many have said it, but I have to agree, this NEEDS to be played again with more players on board game club or at least the next charity stream/sub celebration stream. This is AMAZING Also: props to Dom for making Monopoly an actually fun game! That's one hell of a feat

Definitely bring this game back. The amount of work and detail is pretty amazing. Admittedly, without Don playing the role of the State and introducing rules on the fly, it might lack some. Definitely worth seeing a 4-player game of it.

53:00 to 54:00 is probably the best single minute in the history of No Rolls Barred from the realization to the look of pure joy on Dom’s face. The other 59 minutes are amazing as well!

I just realized that when they were "agreeing" on the even distribution of wealth that the one in jail had more leverage. He could just refuse to agree, and force the other guy to join him in jail. Or he could use that to make sure he got the extra.

I really hope we get to see Communopoly again. This was just way too good for a One-And-Done.

The fact that I’ve watched this video 4 times now should be an indicator of how great it is. I still find myself cracking up through the whole thing and honestly it has become something of a comfort video for me.

This needs to not just be a 4 person house rules, I want this as a regular staple of the channel! This was fantastic!

finally, a House Rules victory for Sullivan, and a well earned one at that. I would absolutely love to see a 4-player video of this, and not JUST because NRB has my family and will do unspeakable things to them if I say otherwise! (that's just a happy coincidence, really) One recommendation I do have, though, is maybe make randomizer cards for the roles, so Adam and Sullivan don't have an unfair advantage when picking their roles. Whenever you would pick a role, you pick a card from the deck, and that tells you what role you are.

Just wanna say, as a Russian, I found this to be extremely hilarious and also an incredibly poignant parody for Stalinist Russia! I’m amazed how hilariously well this simulates the reality of living under Stalin regime. Most of the overseas parodies I see are often just “everyone’s poor, there’s nothing to eat”, but this was ON POINT

Definitely needs to be a full board game club. You should create a few new characters though to keep the surprises. the shock value of finding out your piece can't win is what makes it incredible

I’d love to see a four player match, but Dom needs to reprise his role as the State. The subtle flexibility he takes with the rules is priceless Proposed rule changes: 1) pieces are assigned randomly, I liked how no one knew what to expect this go around 2) money you hide in the West stays with you, even after you disappear (we’ll say a family member stashed it for you) just to provide some sense of progress
