Monster Chopper First Drive! 

stopped everything i was doing to watch this, the only thing i've been looking forward to on youtube.

Being a motorcyclist for the past 50 years, when I saw what you were building, I thought so much un-sprung weight, so many issues to make that work. But you you did it. Congratulations, Well Done! Keep up the amazing Fab work.

Now build a mirror image chopper, and you can combine them into a 4 wheel terror that splits back into two when the trails get narrow. Then recombine it again.

People that can engineer then build something this rare… nothing but my utmost respect and admiration.

There's got to be a tremendous sense of pride building something so unique. Truly a one-off. So impressive.

When you said 863 lbs. I almost fell out of my chair. Cuz that is exactly what my 1983 Kawasaki 1300 6 cyl. Voyager Weighed. Smoothest bike down the road I ever threw a leg over. The thing even had an onboard air compressor to adjust ride quality and height. When you get ready to ride that thing out on the road you need to get a black helmet with little ears and a black cape. Suggestion for you on prepping future tires. Why not build a jig that holds a seven-inch grinder with a flapper disk, and glides in the preferred arc shape of the tire? Have the tire rotating at constant speed, while the grinder reciprocates back and forth on the arc rails (think like a roller-coaster track in a semi-circle the radius of the preferred tire curve). Build the whole arc/grinder setup on a vertical, variable-height, track setup (could use a trailer crank jack to adjust the height until the edges of the tire are at preferred radius). How it would operate: 1) Mount the new tire in the jig and get it up to a slow, constant rotation. 2) Turn on grinder/arc device, which continues to sweep back and forth along the arc track. 3) Use the trailer jack to lower the grinder/arc device a sixteenth (or so) of an inch every time the tire comes out of contact with it. End result should be a nearly uniformly worn, curved tire face. I'm only suggesting such a tire jig be made if you plan on needing to make several more tires for various projects (and, a bonus, you could be doing other things while the jig is in operation, only needing to readjust the cut height periodically throughout the process). Just my humble thoughts.

You guys are probably one of the only channels I watch where I can sit through a video thats half an hour or longer and want more instead of clicking off after 10 minutes and builds like this is exactly why. just insanely cool builds that are like a dream scenario come true

Was it worth the wait?

at 24 minutes plus, add "chain tensioner"! This is such a fun project to watch, and it's performance assures me that mankind can occasionally exceed expectations!

This thing had so much work go in to it. It makes me so happy seeing it ride as beautifully as it does!

First video on this series was over 7 months ago! This was a WILD amount of work! Can not wait to take it on the streets...

My brothers and I have built some wild things in our time, but nothing we ever built can hold a candle to that bike. Great job, love it!!

All that comes to mind is Mad Max. Amazing what some creativity and a lot of elbow grease can accomplish. Congrats

You need a cush drive. A damper, normally rubber between the sprocket and the wheel. It will absorb a lot of the shock that is recking the chain, sprocket and probably gearbox. .👍

As an autozone worker, those duralast jump boxes have gotten me and my buddies out of a LOT of sticky situations. Thank you for buying our products ethan! :)

I do believe this is the coolest RU-vid vehicle build ever. I was skeptical when it fell over with the square tires but this came out incredible.

The wait was so worth it! The monster chopper does indeed rip, and so much better than I expected. Once you get the chain tensioner, maybe improve the brakes, and get this thing fully cleaned up and painted it is going to be a thing of beauty. A murdered out all black look and this thing would become the bat bike.

That's a definite win for the first couple of drives! Really quite impressive how well that worked for a complete custom build.

I really enjoys the long un-cut shots like the one from 8:30 to 10:30! Thats two whole minutes without a single cut. Makes it feel so authentic and makes it more engaging

Watching ur series on this has been inspiring to say the least my man. Enough to make me go back and finish my degree after 15 years so I can better tinker about more with the things I love. Keep it up man!

In Southeast Asia and India they have these two-wheeled "walk behind tractors" that all use the same low-horsepower single-cylinder diesel engine. Pungidda-pungidda-pungidda, forever and ever. Perfect for this beastie. I'd ride it every day.

Cool ride! My 1986 Suzuki Cavalcade was 946 dry. Very smooth!

Can't believe this worked out in the end. It's so cool. I wonder if 2-wheel steering would make it more rideable, with gear reduction steering so a twitch of the handlebars wouldn't make it lose control. Obvs a drivechain would make that difficult so if there was an in-hub electric motor at one or both ends that would work I think...

24:29 Right after Ethan points out it could use a chain guide because of the bouncing you show a clip where that is clearly visible. If that is done with intent you deserve praise dude, nicely done. I've been kind of skeptical of the rideability of the bike since the start but knew I would probably be proven wrong, and imd glad I was. This bike is going to be legendary.

Of all off the creations that I've seen you guys build throughout the years that I've followed you, this is the one that has utterly blown my mind 👌🏻

My husband I have been watching this build since day one. Worth the wait! Also loved Bjorn arguing, This bike gives post apocalyptic cruising through the dystopian wastelands for supplies vibes! Love it! Hard work, imagination and the engineering very impressive.

Well used workshop, workers hands, etc...using a Mac laptop. I can't imagine the multiple viewers having a coronary over the sight of this. Great job using the tools as you need them! They are tools to do the job, nothing more ❤

It's really great to see true artists doing their work in a remote shed somewhere this way. I bet it's pretty stable due to that center of sprung mass being around wheel hub height. And the wheels are probably a third of that weight.

EPIC build! This has been so cool to watch, all of the custom fabrication work has been crazy. From the moment you pulled it out of the garage in this video I was thinking "we NEED to see this thing on the dunes"... and then Ethan said he was thinking the same thing. Do it!!!

This is the most impressive and surprisingly functional mutant machine I have seen your crew build yet! This thing is unbelievably cool and deserves to be in a movie!

Cutting rubber of tires... .I had good success using a SonicSaw ( occulating tool ) i used the scraper type blade and kept occasionally refreshing the edge on it. ( Iwas drag cutting sport fourwheeler tires. Removing every other row of knobs so they would dig like paddle tires. then i installed snowmobile ice spikes in the gaps. To bite into hard packed dirt. . . )

Immediately watching after getting home from work, I have been looking forward to this video like crazy! Extremely cool to see the progression on this, everything you’ve done to fine tune it to get to where you have it. It really has been such a pleasure and good time watching! oh nice! better than thought! but you still have more to add so figure another 20 or so lbs with added parts and paint.

i cant wait to see when this thing is finally able to be taken on the road. when its finally able to really be cranked and given some good beans. i could imagine taking it to someplace like a gas station or a drive thru would get seeeeveral comments.

If you look at it, where you guys have the plans and geometry figured out, you could build a mirrored copy so you have two choppers that connect to make a single crawler😂.

The bike needs two chains so that one chain isnt taking the full resistance. Of course there are things he could add but to even do something of this magnitude is phenomenal. Good stuff here!!!

I know this comments a little late but wetting the blade helps cut the rubber quicker, use plenty water, keeps the rubber cool and the blade slippy 👍🏻👍🏻

Try 2CV dampers, they're bolted to the upright, it's a canister full of oil with a steel weight inside, prevents wheel hop

You might be able to solve the bouncy tries problem by lowering the air pressure way way way down. Like 3 or 4 psi. Idk if it would work, but it would be interesting to try.

congrats on the successful first ride. IMHO, needs front fender. Pretty much a mirror image of the back one. Looking forward to pant, although not sure it needs it got a Mad Max vibe going that works well.

To make it more usable you need to use gyroscopic wheel. That would make the bike more balancing and driveable.

Nice job! You might try letting some of the air out of the tires to cut down on the bounce like they do on a dirt bike around 12-15 lbs. keep up the good work 😉👍
