MONSTER El Reno, OK tornado on May 31, 2013

Here is video of the monster El Reno, OK tornado on May 31, 2013, touching down insantly as a multiple-vortex wedge with violent suction vortices. We had both Dominators 1-2 in the field this day, and worked the western side of the tornado cyclone executing hook slice after hook slice until we ran into power lines, ripping the hood off the vehicle. This solved the over-heating problem with Dominator 2. At peak wedge, there were several sub-vortices of 1/8 to 1/4 mile in width within the over 2-mile wide circulation.
#RIPTwistex
This footage is edited from the TORNADO CHASERS series, as I'm working on a 20 largest wedges video edit including this tornado, Hallam, NE in 2004; Pipestone, MB June 23, 2007; Tillston, MB, Manchester, etc.

I think Dan Robinson may have inadvertently gotten the closest without being swept up. Twistex was right behind him when they were picked up. He, for good reason, won't release that rear camera footage, but he was in the tornado for a bit before he was able to escape. His car was getting pulled backwards and the experts agree had he been 23 seconds behind, he would also be gone. Bettis and the TWC crew got picked up by a satellite, but survived and weren't as close to the core as Dan.

to judge a tornado, (EF0- thru EF5) should be determined by its size and power, (such as wind speed, size), not by the damage done. even a small one can do significant damage in populated areas. But, this one here is in the record books, hopefully not to see another like this. Can you only imagine this tornado hitting Moore, Ok., or even Tuscaloosa?
