When people buy this game, they need to understand. This is not "Monster Fighter". It's Monster HUNTER. You're going to be tracking them down and killing them. You'll need the right tools for things. You aren't going to be some crazy ninja assassin. You're gonna be hunter trying to take down giant creatures
Jinxxed0 thank you for this. Was worried whether it would turn out the fighting type. But now that you mentioned it, I'm glad it's not. Ordering it right now
As a newcomer, the hardest part of the game was the first week. Especially choosing a weapon. It's so slow and confusing at first, but when you find your weapon, it goes down hill from there. When you figure out how to capture monsters and learn the crafting system and armor upgrades, it gets better, new monsters become larger and harder. I legit stopped playing cod, gears and other shooter games to grind out hours in this masterpiece. 9.5 out of 10
I really recommend this one. To all newcomers, don't rush. Move at your own pace, learn the movements of the monsters, be patient. Yes, there's a time limit but 50 minutes is plenty enough to take down 3-4 large monsters. Choose the gear you're most comfortable with and grow on that. Don't think of it as an action-packed game but more of a rhythm game. Time your dodges, your great sword charges and even your item management. I swear, if you'll get the hang of this game, nothing is more rewarding than going on a successful hunt you carefully planned with. Enjoy!
50 minutes time limit? Can I walk around in the world without this time limit? I want to hunt, but I would also love to just walk around in the forests and mountains, just enjoying nature. I used to walk around in the world of Skyrim a lot, just listening to the birds singing, the water flowing, the wind blowing, just watch how the trees move while the wind blows through them. Now I want to play Monster Hunter World and would love to enjoy the nature in this world as well. Is it possible? Or I am limited to 50 minutes to walk around while doing nothing but listening to birds singing, water flowing, etc.?
@@TheNameTooSexyToShow you probably figured it out already but after the tutorial(which can be long) you can go on an expedition which doesnt have a time limit
i just want validation that this game is as awesome as i think it is. i havent played video games seriously for a few years. this is the first AAA title to really pull me in in a long time.
Some Random Guy that's it I spent 4 got opinions from friends got mad at by people for focusing to much on this which caused problems lol I put to much into character creation 😂
It isn’t pointless this time. Since you can hide the helmet, you can see your face. It’s actually worth taking the time to do so. Wasn’t disappointed with the time designing my character.
I am a newcomer to the series and this game has made me fall in love with it. I've been looking for a game for so long with these quirks. you have to actively stratergise your hunt on the spot which is what I really love about games such as this one. I hate the fast combat of shadow of war where the fight is over in 2 seconds. In Monster hunter world you have to study the monster you are hunting before going in for the kill which is what the middle earth series tried to do but failed
I downloaded the crack version, spent 100 hours and beat the game. I felt guilty so I bought the game, played it again, and now back to grinding. Sorry capcom
@@jimwelmh1421 I am in the same boat as you. Finished the game cracked and got to hr 110. Then I bought the game 50% off from steam. I did however move my save file to continue where I left off. I hope you knew before-hand that you could move your save file and wasn't forced to start over😯
@@WisdomAkpan211 I didn't know how to move save files back then so I started over. Wait, did you fight tempered monsters in the crack version? I was forced to buy because I was hyped by comments of these tempered and AT monsters. Sessions were fun, too. So what's your strategy for iceborne? I know this game will be cracked too.
@@jimwelmh1421 Well first of all, tempered monsters minus deviljho, lunastra, behemoth, leshen, and the arch tempereds were already in the base game once you finished the main story. The cracked version that I got was world updated as of march 2019, which includes all the free title updates up to that time, minus certain events. This meant that I was able to fight all the available tempereds (odo, legiana, etc) including deviljho and lunastra. So for me to get all the events for the arch tempereds, ancient leshen and extremoth, I modded them in via nexusmods. This gave me all the arch tempered events, the ancient leshen and extremoth events and a few more goodies. That's how I still managed to get a taste of the hardest difficulty mhw had to offer with the cracked version. Hope this clears things up for you😁
@@jimwelmh1421 To fight tempered monsters all you have to do is go on expeditions, find blue tracks of any monster and do that until you get investigations. Starting off though, you want to get many investigations so your first few investigations isnt necessarily to fight the monster initially, but walk behind it for about like 20 minutes to accumulate more investigations which can also give you other monster tempered investigations (works just like regular investigations) That's how you grow your tempered investigations for monsters. Arekkz made a good video about it. Just search "how to get tempered monster investigations" and find Arekkz. I cant believe you haven't fought tempered monsters yet😅
Been playing since PSP version , fell in love with it ! *Bonus (Monster Hunter World is a full game , its not like other games who make you pay for little content )*
I hope you some day realize there is actually very few games that have meaningful content locked behind pay walls, its only becoming more popular in the triple A games
Nerp there are free dlc for months and they will keep you playing. Paying many times seems like they're some kind of sexual entertainer that will only give if you pay more wth
Why force someone that isnt interested in grinding to keep playing? I understand the love of the game but if after a few hours you still dont enjoy the gameplay there is no reason to beg them to keep playing it even longer since you essentially just keep fighting more difficult monsters to get better gear and thats what makes up MH games. some people love that but others dont enjoy grinding and prefer storytelling. "a few hours" is more then enough time to see if you enjoy the direction game is going in.
my friend convinced me to buy this at full price and i regretted it for the first several hours, but once all the amour and weapon options opened up and i had to make my own decisions on what to hunt and how to hunt, it clicked perfectly and ive never seen a game capture the feeling of being a monster hunter this well since The Witcher 3.
@@Nocturn4lAnim4L people totally overuse The Witcher 3 comparisons, just like Dark Souls, but at the same time its success had an irrefutable effect on modern game design, just like Dark Souls.
I've played all of the Monster Hunter Games and this is Brilliant. Trying to play with a friend is a nightmare especially when two of your friends get the game a day later than you haha!
yea those fucking cutscenes preventing me from hunting with some buds. lol Wish they did it like in 4U, where ur buds are in the background, if they're not in lead role.
Grey Wizard dude even just an hour later is a nightmare. If they haven’t watched the cutscene you can’t help on a mission you already did. If they aren’t on the same mission they can’t play up either. I remember on the old psp versions getting wrecked by monsters I hadn’t even seen on my own yet lol
biggmike707 you can actually. But ur friends won't be able to join you on the hunt until after you view the cutscenes for the MAIN MISSIONS ONLY. There plenty of other missions you can play w friends
I think there should be a function to open the hunt to online friends, and it works mid hunt. It should be an item called SOS flare or some SOS item. Because I don't own the game I can't be more precise... In short, watch the cutscene then call for help with the SOS and your friends will be able to join the hunt.
This is my first ever Monster Hunter game & I took a risk pre-ordering the game. Being completely honest I love the game, as of right now I have 12 hours of play time & as a newcomer I am at awe of just how much I have came to love this game in a short time.
At 1st it was slow for me and it was hard buffing the Insect Glaive in combat for me, but as I got connected to actually lobbies with people and hunting together and switched weapons, it's been really fun.
I’ve never played a MH at all, saw the insect glaive and thought “hey this looks cool” kinda weird at first with the buffs, but the insect glaive is the best weapon in the game imo. I mount monsters so easy now its nuts.
Fake yeah I started off with insect glaive when it was first introduced in Monster hunter 4 ultimate. Then became my main once i got used to it swapping with SnS
I'm new to this game, and it has been great. I love how challenging it is and how you really have to work for better weapons, armor, etc. It's just really great. Worth your money.
"Fans of the series might be a bit disappointed to see no new weapon types added." Hahahaha it's quite the opposite actually. All weapon types got new moves or mechanics added and most of the veteran players I know who only stuck to a few weapon types in previous game now find most if not all weapon types very fun and satisfying to play. There's no need to add another weapon types because they've polished every existing weapon to a sheen. Some people may be bummed out about the lack of oil on SnS or double note on HH but that's about it
Im a new monster hunter player but i love this game already. Just the idea of hunting monsters is awesome. I picked the bow and i love the way in handles and the way you craft ammo
As a fan since 3-Ult, I like World. It has a lot of "Quality of Life" improvements, and I understand that; porting, improving graphics, removing segments from areas, adding Turf Wars, mantles, pets, all the countless stuff in World that greatly adds on from the previous installments... but once you get to the endgame and past HR 49 (wish anyone new good luck), there isn't all that much to do except wait for the next monster patch or festival event. While Investigations do offer randomized quest possibilities, and Tempered monsters offer a somewhat new challenge & grind, the Monster roster's size in World becomes very evident by the endgame. World's Roster: 52 Monsters so far (both large and small) MH3U: 73 Total MH4U: 98 Total MHGen: 107 Total MHGU: 129 Total MHFrontier Z: 179 Total But I won't be an ignoramus and say "Capcom can do so much more", I understand the money and hardware limitations that goes into adding new assets to a game. So as a matter of opinion, World was more or less a test to see how well it would sell worldwide, and it greatly exceeded expectations. It's a good game, don't get me wrong. As of now, however, it's a small Monster Hunter World. I'd give it an 8/10
I think its one of the best MH, Iv been playing since the first ps2 release. got 1000 hrs in the first alone. me and my now wife used to slay dragons together as date's.
My best advice is to take your time with the game. Don't rush in with the biggest sharp thing and expect to button mash your way to victory. Monster Hunter is Monster Hunter and meeting it on it's terms can be extremely rewarding to those who have the patience to learn what it offers.
I'm willing to do that but it seems that it will get repetitive and worst of all , I like to suffer on games , they are supposed to be a challenge but nowadays most games seems like a race where I just go trough things pressing buttons
I'm new to monster hunter and I gotta say I read most of the in game tutorials and it really helped clear up a lot and make the game more enjoyable. Normally I'd skip that kind of thing and learn on my own but there's really just too many vastly different mechanics in this game to not accept the tutorials. And even with them im still learning new things all the time.
To all the people that are saying its repetitive, did you ever play Diablo? World of Warcraft? Both of those games were revolutionary and all-time hits. Even Final Fantasy has a bit of a grindy element. The game's a gear grind. If you don't like that idea, then yeah don't buy it. But don't call it a shit game because you don't like the concept; MH games execute the gear grind concept pretty well. Want more of a challenge? Play through the game with only one set of gear, or one weapon, or completely unupgraded. Or do min-max shit like people in Dark Souls were doing with the no-armor RTSR boss oneshot kills and shit. If people can still play Dark Souls since Demon's Souls and not get bored then either you're looking at the game from the wrong angle or its simply not the type of game for you.
I kinda feel bad for everyone who sees this as a hack and slash. And I also feel bad for everyone who rushes through the game to get a high HR but wonder why they constantly keep dying in the process. People need to learn how to play this game.
BlueHippo45 that's exactly how ppl should begin with mh. My first mh game was mh4u. I played the game and at first it was hard and sometimes a bit complicated but I kept going. for some reason I saw something in the mh series. Till this Day I am gratefull to myself for not putting mh4u aside because it was complicated or hard. I kept holding on and now it's my favorite game series.
like in the beginning of this game first 10 hrs or so everything seems extremely overwhelming if you're a newcomer but when you learn it it becomes so much more enjoyable
Some people are trying to play one game for 5 years like and also have a life so putting so much hours in one game and grinding is not gonna happen. Lol
Great video! You totally nailed it when you said that it’s for specific players and after you let it get the hooks in you, it’s amazing. It took me a little while to get into the groove of it, but I’m so glad that I pushed through the initial frustration. I feel like monster Hunter world is a combination of the whole series in so if you’re coming in as a new player it can be daunting because of all of the many options in crafting items, but realizing that it’s all there because players have been playing for so long that the depth has just continued to dig, allow me to realize I need to take it slowly and eventually I’ll be glad that it’s all there and I am at the point now so keep pushing if you even slightly think this is the game for you because it’s amazing once you get through that initial hurdle
Call me corny, lol, but I feel bad killing some of the herbivore like monsters, like I just killed the mother of a pact and the little ones run off without a mother because I happened to cross their path.
last time I played a Monster Hunter game was about 5、6 years ago, when I got this game last Friday, it still had that same MH feeling, had no trouble getting use to it, 10/10
SpringTime 297 exact same feeling here. To the smallest detail. I’ve been a die hard since it first came out and played almost every version after. And this gave me the same feel.
I remember playing this on psp while deployed on a hot tent on a morning day and cold nights of Afghanistan. And now its here on ps4, its time to finish my unfinished business with this woman!
Bro I also played MH on the psp, it's my first game too. But never got into the series since I was a dumb child back then that don't understand rpg mechanics lol
The T Rex looking guy, believe it or not, is actually a pretty new looking monster when it comes to the series. You mostly fought variations of dragons, wyverns, wyrms, and giant apes in the older entries. Not that it ever got bland for me, since every monster is quite different and works differently Im glad theres even more variation now. I love variety
T rex-like monsters are one of their most common. Deviljho, barroth, uragaan, and yeah glavenus too. Probably missing another. Then you got all the raptor like monsters, jaggi, baggi, velocidrome etc. which aren't that far off. So I'd have to disagree, when i saw the ajanath i thought the whole dinosaur thing is very played out in MH. still cool though
The combat isn’t for everyone, but mostly just cause it’s takes time to get proficient at... and cause the monsters are very reactive and can actually read your movements and move or attack accordingly. Very challenging, it feels like you’re in an epic and terrifying fight and I love it 👍🏼
I used to play the first version of monster hunter on psp and years later playing mh world on my ps4 is amazing. I absolutely fell in love with it and the shear size of these monsters legit terrifies me. Fighting alongside people online or friends is a must just to up the level of fun
My favorite part has been egg delivery quests. It turns the image of a badass hunter that you've built up in your head and flips it upside down. Suddenly your hunter is running away from a horde of herbivores clutching a boulder sized egg. It really was a wacky but fun tone shift from the usual find monster beat the shit out of it then kill or capture quests.
Combat is not clunky, it's realistic. You feel the weight of a weapon with every swing. So strategizing your attacks really makes a difference. Also being prepared makes a world of difference between a 40 minute hunt to a 10 minute hunt. Playing with friends makes the monster harder but it's more fun.
Exactly. Heavy weapons are HEAVY so they are slow but they do a ton of damage and usually let you defend (or have hyper armour), while lighter weapons don't do as much damage but they are way faster and mobile. I like how "weighty" the game feels, it makes it more realistic and balanced than just swing a huge ass anime sword like it's nothing.
Definitely. Going in with the a weapon that has an element the monster is vulnerable to and wearing armor that's more resistant to a monsters attacks. Hunting with friends makes it easier and more fun.
I love this game, the insect glaive makes mounting very easy. You also get a giant beetle to attack monsters for even more damage especially if it's poison with an element.
The term grind is usually seen as a chore. "Grinding" in this is not a chore. This game is so much more then that. The gameplay is rewarding and fun. The goal Isn't just to get better gear, It's also to learn and strategize. There is no visible exp bar, but the more you play the more IRL experience you get. That feeling is something no other game can capture the same way. If you're scared that you might have to think to play this, then look somewhere else. The monster hunter series is amazing, and this is the best yet.
I had never heard of the monster hunter series before this one and now 500 hours in, i still play this game almost all the time. When you get too the end game the game really shines. When you start making builds, know the mechanics, grind for kulve taroth weapons, hunt arch-tempered elder dragons, start using different weapons. You can literally play this game forever and i aint joking about that. 9/10
Gabriel Sölvi Hlynsson how long till the end game i got the game for free and tried playing it but the intro took so long and the first hunter was really boring when does it start getting interesting
They finally released the last update, last week. That means after 2 years, a major expansion, and tons of free DLC later, they have finished MH Worlds and they are moving on to the new one. I've played every installment since the first and I cant wait to see this series evolve more :)
Been playing Monster Hunter since Dos. To see we can now play the game with graphics better than the then-amazing cutscenes from 10 years ago - this franchise has really come a long way. One thing about this global release is that players outside of Japan are missing out on the back story or world information from the older games. There is a Monster Hunter Wikia in Japanese that includes the smallest detail of just about everything, and from what I've seen, nothing in English is comparable to it. This is a shame, and I hope there's a translation project going on somewhere on the Internet so that everyone in the world could share the same degree of immersion.
I really want to see this level of quality, attention to detail and passion to become the norm for videogames again, support it by buying it, you won't be dissappointed!
The game that define a generation, it rewarded veterans and newcomers. I play it with Iceborne till this day, the new Alatreon update is just put everything you learn and master to the ultimate test.
This is the first Monster Hunter I've bought and I absolutely love it, it is everything I love about games. It makes you actually feel and attach to the world. Normally I would actually wait for a "before you buy" but I was just too excited for this one
Day one purchase, having a lot of fun. Newcomers will have a lot of learning to do but once you get past that you will see that the mechanics will make sense.
I dont know man i soaked about 300 hr into mhgen but am still absolutely loving this one! It feels considerably different but the fun addicting gameplay is still here!
As a diehard fan who played almost all MH games (except the japanese ones) MH World on pc is awesome, they finally have a mh game on pc, and plus the graphic looks amazing, and even though there isnt a new weapon type, all of them got new mechanics, good game for a diehard fan
The strategies me and my friend came up with are pretty cool. Like he’d launch me in the air with the switch axe and I’d do an arial attack with the dual blade to counterattack fliers
It’s a grind but there is so many different variable that can change up the experience each time. First 45 minuets are slow but when you learn how to play it’s awesome. Newcomer btw.
Really looking forward to playing this and I’m new to the Game Series. Brought it yesterday so my evening will be spent starting the game. Great video.
my childhood memories haha..been playing this game since i was a child in my psp... i recomend this game for players with a lot of patience to try this...if you want a game that is challenging and unique style of farming and hunting...
I bought this game today and I’m not into this type of game but I can’t put this game down it’s boring at first but it’s amazing I love it. Probably my new favorite game
I’m looking at this after I’ve played it and I absolutely love it. I also love the soundtrack, audio design, monster design, and the world in general but just like for Botw this is my first time playing a game in the series and I’m near addicted to it
I remembered the first time playing Monster Hunter, tried it out of sheer curiosity even though I'm more of a Fighting Game genre Person (first game I tried was MHFU) and it didn't click to me at all first since it looked slow and boring so Immediately I stopped playing it. After couples of months or so I saw one of My Friend who is a Die-hard MH Fan playing it, the way He plays it looks engaging and fun. So, I tried it again this time with Him and He explained some important stuff here and there and get Me hooked more into it. Now I've spend countless of Hours into it and I'm glad that I gave this game another chance. It's one the most fun game I've ever played in My life. And as the video said, it's more fun when more People hunt together but that doesn't mean Solo hunting isn't.
Can confirm. As a newcomer who gave it a good chance, this game is incredibly fun. The most fun I've had in years. The gunlance is my favourite weapon in videogame history.
Save us M1SAKI "Most fun in years" doesn't equal "everything else is not fun". The Witcher 3 is one of my favourite games, but it's too dark to be compared to something as zany and exuberant as Monster Hunter. It's an awesome and deeply rich game, but not what I'd call raw fun. The Souls series may be fun for you, but I find its design to be mean-spirited and anti-player. Not fun to me. Additionally, I'd like to point out that Skyrim was released in 2011, which was many years ago. The Witcher was released almost 3 years ago. Hence, "in years". I'm kind of dumbfounded I have to defend this point. I'm not sure what part of what I said implied that no other game has ever been fun. Just let people enjoy things, please.
Tristan de Robillard Years means 2 or more. Years doesn’t mean “oops, 5 years is too long. Nuh uh, not a year anymore”. You can have fun all you want, I’m just wondering how this was the most fun in years.
Save us M1SAKI in order to avoid getting into a semantics argument, I will boil it down to this. I haven't felt as relaxed and comfortable and happy playing a game for a long damn time. Even my favourite games have stressed me out massively at times. Playing this feels like playing Sly Cooper, or Spyro, or Crash Bandicoot 3, or Jak and Daxter again. I've played some fun games since that time, but nothing as fun as this. This game is special in a different way to many games now.
I love Monster Hunter! I've played MH4 ultimate and MH Generations. I'm so glad I finally get to play on a modern console. The way it was meant to be played.
And if you are new comers, there is no best weapon in game, gameranx get it wrong, provided you know your weapon and utilized its strength, one can kill same monster in about same time range with all weapon (except the range, opaf in World, much less timing and positioning compare to how it used to be)
Miss the good old days when you could play nearly every game that came out. I'm sitting here juggling like 5 40+ hour games since November. Haven't finished any of them and now this game looks like fun too.
@@GrinFlash007 hmm kinda but a bit less i say, never played dark souls before.dont afraid to try monster hunter!if u dont want to start with monster hunter world, play the older games like mh freedom unite or mh portable 3rd(currently playing).with a psp emulator (PPSSPP on aystore) or any other games but i highly recommend those games for newcomers
@@ShitOwl he never mentioned monster hunter the franchise but dark souls as a franchise. I assumed he meant monster hunter world as single game compared to Dark souls as its own franchise.
I didnt even know about mhw until i saw a good deal on it and got it. First few hours were slow and dissappointing but it gradually grew on me, i got deeper into the mechanics and enjoyed it more and more. Now well im already 700 hours in and waiting for the dlc coming out in September, yes ive done everything this game has to offer except grind HR to 999 cuz even at 700+ hrs im still at around 300 HR. Yeah i just had so much fun with so many other things in the game. Also, pro tip : Play solo as this makes the hunt much more challenging and realistic at your own level. Ofcourse you can call in for help if you're stuck at a monster for the 20th time but by then you usually master its moveset and hunt it perfectly solo. The game isnt very hand holding since my first hunts were 40 mins or even timing out as i had no idea what to do and it was my first monster hunter, but now i can actually solo elders in sub 3 times. This game is very fun once you begin to learn the mechanics like flash pods, traps, palico tools, locales, monster weaknesses, sets, items, load outs (these things that game might not even tell you properly) . True its rng is very tedious and irritating, it still is something hunters keep coming back to, of course for the hunt and not the rng. I finished sekiro and am playing bloodborne now lol.
Can i run smoothly on a i7 processor 16 gb ram and with a RTX? I got total war warhammer 2 and it causes some performance issues when the battle is too crowded
Never played a Monster Hunter game? Neither had I. I started day after release, and as someone who genuinely only enjoys souls when it comes to RPG's, I actually found a ton of enjoyment in this game. Definitely worth the $60 to me. (lol I spent $70)
I'm so late lol but I finally played the whole game and it takes a while to get used to but it is so satisfying. I started with the insect glaive and never switched weapons. Once you get late game it is amazing to have all the different tools and super challenging fight.
This game was my introduction to the Monster Hunter franchise. Literally just picked it up this year. I'm addicted. First off, the combat is not clunky in the slightest. Anyone who believes that, is either using the wrong weapon for their play style or doesn't understand the game and expects it to be something else. Remember, half the time you're taking on these gargantuan beasts. Overcoming ridiculous odds. The game is called Monster Hunter for a reason. It's all about the hunt. First time in your first area, you'll be sent after small fry but may see some huge, imposing beasts cross your path. Your best bet will be to run and hide or you can try to engage it and fold like a deck of cards. Later on, a quest will probably send you after that beast. Study the beast, learn it's patterns and weaknesses, take your time and it will be SO satisfying when you finally lay waste to this gigantic monstrosity that terrified you during most of your time exploring this area. Being a cat lover, the Pallico's are an adorable extra touch for me and can really come through in a pinch sometimes. My only major negative is the Uber-gear they patched in for the impatient types who don't understand the game. This overpowered gear almost ruined the game for me (made material farming and smithing, a core component of the game, completely pointless), but once I learned about it I restarted, pretended this gear didn't exist and have had a far richer play experience. This is actually coming from a JRPG fan too.
