Ha ha! "Stay tuned boys".... I am a 60+ woman who maintains my old Montgomery Ward tiller I bought new back then from Wards. This thing just lasts and lasts, so worth fixing up! I wish there had been a shot of the handles and how the start cord attaches. Thanks for the video!

my grandfather has the same Montgomery ward tiller, and it's currently running it's 3rd engine. my grandfather got it for a wedding gift a long time ago

That's a pretty nice old tiller, doesn't look like it's been used much, you hardly ever see paint still on the tines of the older ones.

yup, thats what I told him, also that they dont make them out of solid metal like this anymore atleast for the consumer end, this thing is made of solid steel, really heavy as well, im going to white vinegar treat the tank tomorrow

i have this same tiller with the same carb. I think I need to replace the diaphragm. do you know what diaphragm that is

What needs to be done if my flywheel is not engaging? Everything work great, but pull cord and flywheel are not engaging

Can you post a video of how to remove the pulley that the pull rope goes around out of the housing. I lost a piece down in there & need to remove the pull rope pulley out of the housing

Curious, saw that someone broke their main pickup. I just repaired one with baking soda and crazy glue. Have you tried that? I have not put the tiller back together yet, but am told fuel would not affect my repair. Baking soda and crazy glue dries almost instantly and vey hard. You can sand it if necessary. Thought Iwould try his on this old tiller since these carbs seem to pretty pricey!

Mine starts and then dies after a lot of pulls. I removed and cleaned the carb. The carb looked pretty good. I noticed the fuel bowl in the tank is not filling. Can anyone help me?

Great video! Liked and subbed! I was able to get this exact tiller for 20 bucks at a yard sale. I cleaned it replaced the filters and it was running last year at my brothers place. But when he returned it, it won’t start. I don’t know much about small engines so can’t troubleshoot it worth a damn. It has compression and spark, it just won’t turn over and run when I pull the rope. Can anyone offer some next steps for me to look at? Or perhaps a good book on how to troubleshoot small engines? I would be ever so grateful 🙂 Also, Where can I get the handle in this video for the pull rope? I didn’t hear a brand or model - maybe it was said but I missed it. Anyone know what kind it is? Again great video and I will be moving on to more videos on your channel! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise.

You can find those handles at any hardware store in the mower department. Any handle will work. Start with cleaning the carburetor out as well

What can you do if the longer tube on the Carb is Broken? Can a replacement carb be purchased? I have the same exact one but the model number is worn off.

you may be able to replace the other tube but replacing the whole carb you are better off just sticking a harbor freight 6.5hp motor on it, or a legit honda if you so desire.

No I haven’t. But I do know that they put a lot of different names on these over the years. Want to say they were manufactured by American yard products or MtD

paradoxdesigns yeah I had to drop the volume substantially on that clip I was talking throughout the whole thing as well definitely did make a lot of interference.

nah I dont do business over youtube just local stuff, what engines I do have I either fix or use for parts, get on craigslist and put up an ad that you haul junk lawn equipment for free, you wouldnt believe the things people have given me

you might want to look at some of harbor freights motors, those seem to be pretty popular with the go kart and motorized bike guys
