What happens when there is no arrow in a no parking or no stopping sign? Does it mean from that point onwards, backwards or both?

Montreal signs are really complicated. I gave up. Some of their detour signs lead to dead ends. I just park my car away from downtown and just take metro.

Thanks Sasha! Very much appreciated information. Quick, possibly dumb, question... So, for the signs that have no parking 9h-23h and have a permit #, are you allowed to park from 11pm to 9am (overnight), if you don't have a permit?

How about COMMUNAUTO, what if you park your car where it says that it's only until 9am, and then no one takes your car, will you get a ticket despite that you could leave the car there over night?
