This series of live streams features several Moog One sound designers deep diving into the work flow of the Moog One.
Part 2: GARY HULL
Gary possesses the brains of a thousand men (in jars), and has the ability to play the unplayable, fix the unfixable, solve the unsolvable, and leap small emus in a single bound. He is also Senior Analog Designer at Universal Audio.
Gary is joined by Chris Howe, Moog Engineer.

I am loving Gary's enthusiasm and joyful tone while talking about this synth. The knowledge he drops while describing his patches makes me wish I could take a weekly synthesis/sound design course lead by him.

Moog One is one of the nicest synths Moog has ever produced. I wish I had the money now, must start saving right away.

OK, the modulation of the waveform seems to be what was missing for me in the first demos. I think an older synth like the MemoryMoog did some of this "by accident" which gave it a lot of character. Now it is clear that these types of sounds are definitely here, you just need to do them intentionally!

I appreciate all the info, but it would be really nice if you guys did a video just showing off all the tonal variations. How about a vast sampling of all the varied presets already created?

Hours of super interesting material recently. Thank you moog. This thing looks and sounds like a champion. Have you showed the internal eventide blackhole reverb somewhere in your presentations? I cant find it, too much content.

i can’t wait for a stand off between the prophet 6 and moog one. i’m maybe going to try keeping my korg poly six and sequential prophet 6 until i get the moog one so we can make some comparison videos. genuine vintage poly analogue, modern analogue poly dco, and moog one (which i suspect is in a class of its own).

effects: tape saturation, eq, lo fi, reverse, compression, tape warble and hiss... things to make it sound old.... i know it seems weird to say, but adding environment and mood to a performance is huge, so.... i’d love to see these kinds of effects without delay times. immediate effects.

Series is great - thanks for making these! Is there a way to set the mini-scopes on the oscillators to show the modulation affecting them? Looks like it's pre-mod in the video.

If Moog already has Bitcrushing onboard, there is no reason that Sample Rate Reduction isn't on there as well. Please add it Moog! ..... also.... They skipped that effect in the demo. Can somebody just show us the effect and a closeup of the parameters?

In regards to the delay - would it be possible to implement a function where the delay level (or feedback) decreases as you move lower on the keyboard? Too much delay on the bass register can muddy things up, being able to reduce it while retaining it in the mid/upper register would be a phenomenal option to have.

In another video they talked about allowing modulation to the fx in a future update.
@PCB-
@PCB- 5 лет назад
Don't know if the One has this feature already but if it has a delay type that has an frequency adjustable 6db to 12db hi-pass filter on the input or feedback path then you could do what you are describing. You would not need to use any modulation to achieve this the cut off slope of the filter will do the work for you. The same principle is really useful on reverb as well.
@steveg219

I think so yes because keyboard tracking was demonstrated with other modulated parameters

It‘s ashaming that he isn‘t able to even play simple chords or chord progressions on such an expensive synth. And: He is talking tooooo much...
@robertely2635
@robertely2635 5 лет назад
Seriously Dude? Can't even play simple chords? Gary is a very talented musician, he was the keyboard player in a band called Gamma, with Ronnie Montrose, ever heard of it? He is "talking too much" answering questions about the product from the host and from people online, jackass. The only "ashaming" thing in your post is that your grammar skills are obviously lacking......

Yep still no worth what you are charging. Insulting the price of this synth.
@glenallan6279

Amazing what things cost when you pay people decent money to build them in an employee owned company that doesn't outsource to countries that use slave labor. Nothing about the prices we have available in exploitative capitalism represents the actual cost to make things. That said, the value of the currency would also be less depressed, so it would be somewhat cheaper. But it's high end equipment, you pay for what you get on all fronts.
@meangene408
@meangene408 5 лет назад
@@glenallan6279 Who is this product aimed at? How many of us can actually afford the prices being asked here? Whether this is a socialist utopia or not. The fact of the matter is this product is aimed at a certain slice of society . It is a needless extravagance. This alienates, as you say, the workers. The normal guy in the street isn't dipping his hand in his pocket for this. So spare me the "poor" Moog employee routine.
@austinstyles6393

meangene408 Dude they sell for $6000 and $8000 not $60,000 and $80,000. If someone really wants one they can eventually have one. That being said, obviously Moog did not build this to sell to the budget minded, hobbyist/bedroom musician. This is for professionals or people who can afford a premium instrument. I will eventually get one. I estimate that I can buy one in about 8 months. I just need to sell a few things and work a little overtime at the JOB.
@meangene408

@@austinstyles6393 fair enough. I've stated my opinion. Don't see the need to have a flagship synth at such a ridiculous price.
