And that's the most complicated and heartbreaking part of the movie, and it's why he breaks off comms at that point. Sam realises that Sam is about to see Sam. And that will end any chance Sam has to stay alive. But also, Sam realises that Sam is a copy of Sam, the man who sold Sam out, for endless numbers of clone-generations of Sam, and that makes Sam THE KIND OF PERSON who would sell out other-Sams for personal happiness. And yet, Sam is the clone on the moon who hates that Sam on Earth who was obviously the kind of Sam willing to sell out later Sams for an easy life. That is the most hateful and painful kind of selfishness I can think of: the ability to sell out future YOU's without any hesitation. And the worst part is realising that you are a copy of the kind of person who could do that, and that in the worst sense possible that means you DESERVE your own death but ALSO that the real culprit (your original you) won't shed a single tear for any of it. It's fucking monstrous.

The moon doesn't have atmosphere. Shipping stuff Moon to Earth is really easy, is my point. Shipping the Helium back to Earth just needs a fairly small rocket capable of pushing it into a stable descent orbit, and it just splashes down in the ocean somewhere and you're GTG.

i think the assumption that it's resource expensive comes when the viewer is assuming that people are going to and from the moon. not just dying up there.

Rocket science is actually pretty simple. Push small things really fast one way to make big things go slower but fast enough the other way. And yeah, the hard bit is getting to the moon, it's pretty easy to get from the moon to the earth (although the difficult bit is knowing where you'll land, Yay helium! Boo it hit a city!)

So when he called his daughter I thought the "Dad" that she was calling for was Sam...I was under the impression that OG Sam knew about his in one way or another and he was allowed to leave after the three years but they used those three years to build like "a life" for the clones

hate to say it but we are. if it was more cost effective for corporations to create clones to do work they absolutely would do it. the things people will do to make money are staggering and awful and hell, this ain't even as bad as some of the shit that goes on, right now, on this planet. unfortunately.

The great majority of us are dumb, you can barely go a day without that being proved. And dumb goes with bad because basically, too stupid to know better.

Curiously, Genuinely bad people are usually not the dumb ones! They consciously do bad things without any regard of the moral consequences.
