Maxis isn't a jerk, he was just frustrated since Richtofen wouldn't listen to him. When Richtofen discovered the ancient pyramid, he touched it and developed an artificial form of schizophrenia which caused him to go insane. That's when Richtofen began doing things he shouldn't and trying to take over the world using zombies since the voices in his head were beginning to control his thoughts and actions.

@ResidentEddy No, just those rockets could not blow up the earth. What most likely happened is that the rockets were loaded with Element 115 and they were used to turn everyone on earth into zombies. He even says that the explosions were larger than he anticipated. He would want them large if it was to blow up the earth.
did you hear what Maxis said he said, "hopefully those calculations were correct" also there is a part of the earth that isn't blown up so that kinda adds up... Maybe a big part to there being more zombies in Black Ops 2?
"ShE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT SHE'S DOING!",actually she does know what she's doing, she's controlling the zombies,she can control the powers she has gotten from the MPD,she defeated a whole apothicon God in another timeline,she has probably done many other things that we don't know about. Though she had gave us the power ups, she had also gave us the box. So yes,she knows exactly what she is doing maxis since she was also one of the voices in Richtofens head in classified/Five,in which she told him that he doesn't know anything about the MPD nor how it works and how only she know what the aether really is and what it wants.
I wanna see Richthofen die. Samantha end up happy (somehow), tank and nicholai get they're memory back, Maxis gets a new body, ZOMBIES gets its own seperate game.

How? He was only doing his job by keeping Edward in control, and was desperate to get his work done. Therefore, he did have to be mean at some points. Does not constitute the murder of him or his little girl. Besides, Richtofen's manipulative liar, he's sociopathic and sadistic. Not to mention he tortured a lot of people. No. Just no. First, like I said in the earlier comment, he isn't at all mean. Second, Edward was the one that released the zombies on the world and take it over. No, Maxis isn't the bad guy. He only blew up the Earth to stop the severity of his partner's actions.
