My sister arranged quite a surprise on my wedding day and ringed to Mitja. :) I have no idea how she made that happen but it was astonishing as I am a hardcore-Moonsorrow-fan. My wedding was in February 2015 and Moonsorrow played in my hometown a short while after and, of course, I and my wife were present. Needless to say, it was an awesome gig.
When I went to see them in fall 2011, I started to get a bad headache on my way to the show. Their music calmed the pain, it was great. So just to say, I believe you! Cheers from France! 🍻
@@alannamcneill5679 Not surprising taking OP's and my own experience when it comes to it. It's really crazy and might even seem irrational when you think about it. I've been hearing about music's healing properties and other things for a while, and to someone who don't believe in things that can't really be proven using science and maths it's seems impossible. But between the testimonies from other people and my own experiences, it gets hard to fall on one side or the other. Anyways, it's weird what music brings to people. I like every genre of music in a way or another, but Moonsorrow is the one band that brings me chills consistently when I listen to it. Especially when I go through a full record of them after waking up.
Leave it to Moonsorrow to still sound fucking perfect through the horrible sound quality bloodstock has. They absolutely nailed Huuto and Mitja was really enjoying himself. Pleasure to watch.
GREAT SET BY MOONSORROW THEY ARE THE KINGS OF FINLAND AT THERE STYLE OF MUSIC, THERE ALBUMS ARE ALL GREAT TOO SORRY FINTROL YOU GUY'S ARE GOOD TOO BUT ALWAY';S LOVED MOONSORROW. SINCE '2001'.
I have to say for me its a trio we can call it. Windir from Norway, Thyrfing from Sweden and Moonsorrow from Finland. All three is fucking epic bands, sadly almost noone is interested in starting a band with this influences. it's almost only Thrash, Heavy and Death that's popular when creating a Metal band..
Epic metal is my favorite genre. You could add Forefather from England, Falkenbach from Germany, Primordial from Ireland... I like thrash, death and heavy but in addition of power and violence, epic metal brings atmospheres that I don't necessarily find in the basic metal genres.
About starting a band with these influences, you can add "Dent" or "Thall" to the list even though they're not really genres. That said I agree, kinda sucks that genre isn't more popular but it's somewhat cool at the same time. I played in a band influenced by bands like Ensiferum, Wintersun, and other bands like that. And later, even though we already listened to Moonsorrow we started to add more of their influence to the writing. It was great. Then members became too busy with other things to keep the band going, which sucks a lot. That was my favorite band I was a part of. That said I still have a few rehearsal recordings I can go back and jam to. Cheers from France! 🍻
I suspect that not many of us have noticed that how nicely Mr. Tarvonen also sings background vocals even though he has a work to do with his drums. Also I wonder if Mitja's shirt with that same symbol is the same every year after another. Having seen Moonsorrow live in 2008 (they played Tulimyrsky thoroughly which I still salute!). Well, pointless babbling...
didn't even notice this had been uploaded. Was there, very hungover from the night before and felt like I could throw up at any point. But its Moonsorrow, I wasn't going anywhere! I stuck it out and actualyl fet better after haaha
I like both, very much, but I have to say, AA is death metal with viking lyrics, not viking metal :) Edit: right, nearly forgot. Moonsorrow isn't viking metal either. It's supposed to be epic heathen metal, as they themselves described it, though personally I'd say it's similar to pagan metal (folk and black mix). ;)
The band is amazing, just little bit better image, but the sound was sh**t, havn't heard such distortion since late 70-s, no balance at all. Its disappointed as the band plays technically perfectly.
lead singer should do some situps-too flabby - all the blood you can't see what they look like - still I really like them and their music is really cool and this is a good performance-the strong bass makes the music sound awesome
