Every time I get to visit this wonderland of synth and play the ARP 2600, I always wish I could document the experience more. Here is one of my attempts to do so!
Gear list for nerds (hi nerds):
Recorded on a potato and edited in Sony Vegas.
Korg ARP 2600 in duophonic mode with the second CV multed and controlling one 2600 VCO and one Wiard VCO (in the little boat). The first voice is the other two 2600 VCOs.
Minimoog (reissue) is also played through the 2600's reverb.
Aftertouch is one of the best things ever invented for keyboard players!

My Moot video notification went off on my phone while I was driving. I saw the title and sped home so I could watch this one on the big screen TV with the stereo cranked. When I got home and turned it on, my dogs absolutely went nuts and loved this video as much as I did. This video should get the Best "Ear Candy" Video of the Year award! ☺ 🎹 🎹

This reminded me "Explosion - An Improvised Synth Solo". I'm looking forward to that kind of legendary performance again my friend. I sincerely believe that if you can do it as a series, it will be great and it will break watch records.

Superb. I must admit that aftertouch is something that my vintage 1975 Minimoog D might be lacking. Thanks for sharing!

Vintage is excused, but aftertouch should be mandatory on modern synthesizers, preferably polyphonic and with a ribbon controller too, as on the Hydrasynth. Makes soloing so much more expressive. Then again, not needed for playing pianos or organs.

Ah, from the UniSyn to this. I forgot you did this and I already liked it. As a fellow euroracker--do you feel having the Arp and Mini in their original formats changes the way you use them a lot compared to your eurorack? Basically 80% of my instruments are eurorack at this point ,I have a full replica minimoog via AJH Synth built into a keyboard and Arp 2600 VCF clones among many other things and a multitude of other exciting modules, but I still think it probably changes the way I use them compared to if I had a big thing that was obviously a 2600 in all its forms, etc., even though I can pretty much replicate (and much more) through the modules.

Is that a modern Mini with aftertouch routed to the keyboard/filter cutoff, or are you using an expresion pedal at the beginning to open up the filter? Either way it's a nice performance effect you have going there.

Me being an old synth head, I just love this stuff! Mini Moog and Arp 2600 together! Effing awesome! I have a couple of old synths that hopefully in the new year will get back up and running. Me, I'm mostly a Korg guy so it's my Minikorg and my Polysix. Mostly in that my only non Korg is my Moog Grandmother. Are these your own synths? If so, you are one lucky dude! Synth on, man!

this is the collection of a good friend of mine. I am fortunate to get to spend time with them! Old Korgs are awesome too - love them! Ever played a Trident MkII? That’s one of the most powerful-sounding multi-instrument keyboards I’ve played. Thank you for the kind words! Cheers!

Since when does the Mini have aftertouch?? 😵😵

The reissue Minimoog has velocity and aftertouch! The new 2600 doesn’t have velocity, but does have aftertouch. Those things are not wired in by default on the Mini - there’s just CV outputs on the back that you can then patch back into whatever (filter/amp/oscillator/mod). I route aftertouch to the oscillators and set the trim so I can reliably get musical intervals with pressure.

Not my cup of tea but interesting nevertheless. The player is phenomenal. I wonder what he’d sound like if he had to tickle real acoustic long more massy keys. His hands are so soft!
