36:37: lol, that's how I installed mine when I went with 11.75" rotors on my '73 Road Runner. The washers are still there to this day! Never knew it was wrong. I also never put the O-rings at 35:03 because I thought they were just packaging to hold the brake pads together during shipping. Oh man, thanks, I'll have to go back and rectify things one day soon.

@@YoshimoshiGarage not quite done yet, had some issues. The bolts that hold the lower ball joint to the spindle were too long and were hitting the bracket where the sway bar connects to the lower control arm. Got shorter bolts and low profile nuts fixed that issue. Next issue was i found out they didnt send me the rubber brake lines, just got those yesterday. Everything else seems to be going fine with the help of this video. I'm no mechanic by anymeans so this has really helped. I also changed out inner and outer tie rod ends. Today, new brake lines since the ends dont move freely, or at all, lol. Hope to be done soon and get this baby back on the road.

I just rewatched your brake series for about the third time. How is this the first time I noticed you are wearing a Space Ghost tee shirt?!?! Thumbs up for that dump truck load of awesomeness. FYI, I finished up wire wheeling all the rust around me wheel wells on my Dart. I got one side painted and I’m planning to install my kit next weekend. Fingers crossed.

If you put heat on that fitting it will break free 100% on the time.

Good deal. I just got the same kit. Different retailer, but still the MBM kit. Seems easy enough, and this vid confirmed that. Im glad u noticed the spindle nuts were backwards, that was killing me...LOL. Also, Im surprised no fluid came out when you took off the old brake hose. I didnt want to do that yet cuz I dont want the MC to run dry. I just got the old calipers and hose tied up with a bungee. Did you pull your MC already?
@YoshimoshiGarage
@YoshimoshiGarage 3 года назад
No fluid came out simply because I'd already drained the system. I've not pulled the master cylinder yet - it's on the list (along with putting in a line-lock while I'm there). I've gotten side-tracked building a 5.9 Magnum and since it's winter-ish I'm slow to get back into the Dart projects.

Very thorough! And your patience is remarkable- those A-arm bushings were something! May I ask- why did you use Pirate Jack? Looks like great quality stuff- but just curious. I guess a donor car is another way to go about the swap..I imagine any/all require spindle change? (Lazy And Cheap)
@YoshimoshiGarage
@YoshimoshiGarage Месяц назад
Getting donor stuff is probably about the same price and you have to find it, plus this way the parts were new and clean.

great video! appreciate the detail! Did you ever consider using the kits that mount to the old drum spindell?

This is the most comprehensive video I have ever seen. Fantastic presentation. If I get these kits do I have to get other parts as well like upper control arm bushings, camber bolts, tie rod ends etc?? Thank you for such a great series of videos.
@YoshimoshiGarage
@YoshimoshiGarage 3 года назад
The kit does not include any suspension parts other than the lower ball joint. So while you're into it I'd recommend also getting upper ball joints, control arm bushings inner and outer tie rod ends and the upper and lower bump stops.

I hope to get part 3 up within the next week or so as well. I have most of it shot, but waiting on one more part.

Excellent video. If doing a 63 GT, can I use the existing upper control arms also or will they need replaced? I know I have to replace the lower ones to use the new spindles. Thanks for the informative video.

Not sure on pre-67. I'd check with the kit instructions.

Yes, I'll do a part 3 for the master cylinder and probably a line lock as well. It's on the schedule once I get the 5.9 magnum rebuild done.

@@YoshimoshiGarage the kit comes with an adjustable proportion valve , i have seen people coments its a hassle dogde had a complete proportional and meter valve single unit for 70 bucks already adjusted let me know your thought about it thanks again and like I sade well done part 1 & 2 videos 👌
@YoshimoshiGarage
@YoshimoshiGarage 3 года назад
@@torant617 Yes, I've done the swap several times before using mid-70's factory parts and always just used the factory proportioning valve on those which was easy. We'll see how this adjustable one works out. If it sucks, I actually have an old stock one I can clean up.

I'm going to do this same kit soon, do you know if the geometry for the wheel is exactly the same as before? I am really close to rubbing with my current wheel/tire setup and I'm wondering if the disc brake conversion kit will mess it up.
@YoshimoshiGarage
@YoshimoshiGarage 3 года назад
I didn't measure, so I honestly don't know. I feel like I've read somewhere that the disc brake setup (which is really just the later 70's setup) pushes the tire a little outward, but I don't have any specific reference for it. It would be great if someone else has done the measurements before and after could weigh in.
@Rokkator
@Rokkator 3 года назад
@@YoshimoshiGarage I also remember reading something similar about the kit extending the wheel/tire outward slightly, I guess I'll find out!
