Word of warning, buying Mora's can become addictive. Maybe there should be a support group for that. A Dremel tool will easily sharpen the spine of the Companion so you can strike that Ferro rod like a boss. And if there is one thing all us knife bro's need it's more ways to strike Ferro rods. I know a lot of this was intentionally humorous but you've honestly hit some points that I think the knife community, bushcraft community, and survival community need to talk about. Namely the idea that an outdoor, bushcraft, survival knife needs to be indestructible and capable of batoning logs or being bashed through hard materials. RU-vid is jam fucking packed with reviews and demos of batonning and truncating logs and hammering knives into coconuts etc. etc. so this whole idea has been perpetuated to a point of lunacy. After 10+ years of heavy knife collecting and heavier knife use for camping, bushcrafting, backpacking, yard work, hiking, canoe tripping and so on, I've never once actually NEEDED to bash my knife through anything. I'll use my knife to split small sticks for my backpacking stove but they're never thicker than MAYBE wrist sized. I've used my knives to split larger pieces of wood because I wanted to but I've never NEEDED to. There was ONE time I NEEDED to split a larger piece of wood because the outside was wet.... all I had was my knife but instead of hulk smashing my knife through the log I took 2 minutes and whittled a wooden wedge and used that to split the log. A knife is a finesse tool, instead of pounding it through a piece of wood and potentially breaking it, use it as a tool to create another tool more specific to the job. I own several large knives and I love using them but again, if I'm entirely honest, they're completely unnecessary. The last 2 backpacking trips I went on I took only my Mora Eldris and was no worse off.

My Eldris is to me, surprisingly pocketable. It's probably also enough knife for 99 percent of my daily knife needs. My wife tells me a similar thing about......wait am i still typing?

I own several knives and i must say the kansbol is the first in my list, it performed wonderfully in every cutting task. For thick logs I use a folding saw, nothing more is needed, and I doubt anyone can cut 20'' with a knife, no matter how big is.

Owning all three I always go back to the Companion for camping/bushcraft. The Kaansbol is a nice design. The Companion is a knife that will never let you down. It’s like a Subaru. Not sexy, but will always get you there.

Nice backyard crafting

i bought the Mora Eldris about a year ago. i don't usually go got "low end" knives. when i can afford them i buy microtech, benchmade, spyderco etc. i took the chance on this unique design and i was not disappointed. it's a great little knife and the spine is so sharp it works amazingly well fero rods. dont lett he looks fool you. it's a well built blade and i'd buy another without hesitation. p.s. though it wasn't brought up CRKT may be considered a low end knife. it's farthest from the truth. they have some very well made knives. (i know nobody asked.)

I went with a companion in carbon steel. Used a file to make the top 90 degrees and Put a dark patina with apple cider and lemon juice. Awesome knife. The only issue I have is belt only attachment option.

Very good quality knifes. I have Mora 711 and Mora 748. I love both of them. 711 very strong knife, but oxidizes rapidly.

I love my companion, I'm getting a eldris an a kansbol,also a big knife for Hader wood use as well as a silky folding saw for my bush crafting an camping slash backpacking.

I have the companion 125 it has a 90 degree spine. I have the robust and Eldris if you put the knife in the sheath you get a long handle and I have very big hands

I recently bought a Kansbol for my friend and an Eldris for myself. Moras can't do everything, but they do exactly what you expect them to do.

I like a Mora, I fell into the ‘gotta have every one they made’ trap. Can’t forget the different colours.😏 I enjoy using my HD Companion most, I have the Garberg and other ‘better’ Moras but I always use my HD. I like the handle.

I purposely had my middle finger removed on my right hand and replaced with a 4"X 0.5"X 0.25" piece of 1095 HC flat bar stock. And on my left hand I had my middle finger removed and replaced with a 4" X 0.5" inch ferrocerium rod. Sometimes now when I clap my hands together, it looks like the 4th of July🎆🎆😎!

Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!! Let a Knife be a knife! Mora's are great. They do knife stuff very well. If you need to split logs get a froe or an axe. The Kansbol is a mix of camp / skinning knife. Real world knifes that work well! Thanks for you well thought out review.

I keep Mora Companions in a couple of different Go Bags I set up years ago. Nice knives for ten bucks each. Got them in blaze orange so I can find 'em when I drop 'em.

The Kansbol has a comfortable handle, I don’t know why they left the rubber off the Garberg handle. The Garberg would’ve been perfect with the Kansbol handle.

Good knives. The Eldris has been in my edc for a few months now. I like fixed blade knives and the Eldris is not very intimidating. I don't want to scare cow-orkers when I open a box or envelope at work. Sad but true.

I own eight Mora’s. Was very disappointed with the Garberg. Bush craft black is my favorite. Followed by the one I thought I would hate the most and, ended up loving. The elders. I work construction in Western Missouri and Kansas. And where tool bags. (hammer, impact drill, nails, screws, dit’s, square, pencil, marker, torpedo level, flat bar and shit!) Makes it difficult to access a cold steel pocket knife. (in any pocket) Makes that little neckknife AWesome. Great video! PS. I despise box knives. That’s why I don’t carry one.

The Kansbol is the best knife I ever had. Possibly tied with the Mora 2000. Had Bark Rivers, Fallknivens, esee et cetera but the Kansbol is has better usability, is lighter in the backpack and just with perfect steel that is easy to sharpen and holds an edge very well.

Was looking at the Mora Eldris at a store after work. I wanted to read/watch some reviews before before I decided on a purchase. I get home and Bam! There is my favorite knife reviewer with some information Advanced Knife Bro!

Even though it is a known fact that we Finns hate Swedes, I love Mora knives (as I do love Finnish Puukko's). I can't understand how it is possible that I do not own a Companion already considering the price.

The thing with the metric system is, that you generally don't state half MM's that only come to be when calculating from smart inches to CM.

While the purple is alright I'm still very partial to the nice blue ones or maybe the orange morakniv companions (wasn't it magenta according to their marketing?). I always did like them, good cheap knives that you can let other people borrow without worrying about them going baton or tip prying/scraping crazy. This is kinda how I feel about my victorinox folders (except the very first one that I'm a bit sentimental about) and moras. But since I've already abused the hell out of my Moras I don't care so much about those. Over the years I've somehow ended up with 3 companions and a couple of their other knives. I think I forgot/lost a companion once and then just bought a new one only to find it somewhere stupid. And in the other case I left it at someones house and it was easier to order a new one delivered next day than to wait a few days or pick it up (actually cheaper than travel expenses involved to pick it up too). Everything Mora together is still much cheaper than my two benchmades and the spyderco endura added up.

love moras, though the eldris just seems to small ans expensive for me to bother to get one. the kansbol on the other hand has become one of my all time favorite knives. from LIGHT batoning if needed to whittling to processing small game and fish, it just kicks ass.

Well but if your worried about that then put your sheath from the eldris,on the handle with the divits,there it in fact makes a longer handle as I've seen an works quite well for guys with larger hands. Just saying bro

The eldris is just too small for my hands. I prefer having a handle that fits my whole hand. May as well just carry a good folder. As for people who are worried about carrying the 'extra weight', well drop two pounds and carry a big chopper instead.

Is there a functional reason for that "profile grind" on the kansbol? I'm assuming it's there to make it a better slicer but you know what they say about assuming.

i know most knife makers will void the warranty when you snap a blade from batoning since they're not meant for that kind of work, if you have a back pack and you have it loaded with a knife and a bunch of stuff hotdogs a teapot e.t.c. to head out and work the knife and display your fire starting prowess, take a freakin hatchet with you instead of forcing a knife to do what it was never meant to. as for moras they are nice knives for the price, i bought the 3 gone over in this video and tonight got a question from amazon which was better, the kansbol or companion and yeah they'e both good knives for the price the kansbol around the price of a buck 110 and the companion half that the companion sturdy thick single bevel 8th inch thick spine they are good all around utility knives and will last a long time if treated right -no batoning

Do you use your sharpmaker to sharpen the Scandi grind? And instead of holding the knife perpendicular you just move the grind flush against the sharpening rod? Trying to figure out the most efficient way to sharpen my scandi and I don’t trust myself with a stone just yet.

Their Garberg is officially my favorite knife of all time, I use that knife for everything its a beast. The full tang is crazy tough and the handle is darn near bomb proof.....I think you might actually like that one, it comes with a nice leather sheath or their weird plastic dohicky with a bunch of hobbolygook attachments.

My Eldris has never clicked into the sheath, just kinda slides in and holds with some friction (tho not enough for me to feel comfortable) but no positive 'click'. But the grind(s) on the Eldris has definitely made me want the Kansbol. Using the Eldris for shaving curls off a chunk of rock hard fatwood is a religious experience, so I figure the Kansbol will give me even better functionality minus the hand cramps. Also, the Eldris spine is sharp enough to cut you itself, as I learned the hard way.
