Welcome back to the Rocky Mountain Farmer channel! Day 8 of our wheat harvest brought a mix of pride and persistence as we decided to mount an American flag on our Fendt Ideal 9 combine, showcasing our love for the land we work on. But the day wasn’t without its challenges. We found ourselves repeatedly dealing with broken auger bolts, a frustrating issue that tested our patience. If that wasn’t enough, a ram on the header gave out, threatening to slow down our progress. However, despite these setbacks, we were determined to keep moving forward. Thanks to some quick thinking and a bit of good old-fashioned hard work, we managed to cover a lot of ground. This video is a testament to the resilience and dedication it takes to be a farmer. Join us as we push through the tough moments, keeping our spirits high and our flag flying. Don’t forget to hit that like button, leave a comment, and subscribe to follow the rest of our harvest journey. Proud to farm, proud to be American! 🇺🇸

On the unload auger. In the tank. Put the slides all the way down on the right side. That will lighten the pull on the auger. Up on the left will give full unload. CASE can turn off cross augers in the hopper.

Rotor or chopper. Uphill drains more power from the machine making it less noticeable. Just my opinion from my personal experience. Could be gear box that drives the rotors. Could be the fan. Vibration usually occurs with the faster moving parts. Be safe! Thomas, Mississippi!!

You're right, putting our beautiful American flag on made the combine 100% better. That vibration issue is concerning. Usually as things like that develop they don't improve with continued use. The first sign of getting worse I'd be wanting to swap out the machine for the new one and get your machine thoroughly checked out and correct whatever is wrong, before it's a major problem. I'm with you on the windmills. They ruin the beauty of the mountains.

Chris, sounds like "end play" the drum has bearings on both ends with fastenets. If there is too much play in the bearings against the rotor sorry i called it drum. Anyway, down hill it could be causing more end play on the rear bearing causing the vibration. Up hill seats the rotor on the bearing reducing the vibration. Also, if they are greaseable,the bearings could be a little dry. Some manufactures use proper amounts of grease as part of end play specifications.

I would assume that there is a spacer (maybe more than one) on the forward end of the rotor shaft. That spacer would be between the front rotor bearing and the rotor itself and is mounted on the shaft. Gravity puts pressure on it because the rotor is not mounted level, and as the rotor rotates in order to trash out the grain from the straw, it tries to move forward, putting pressure on the spacer and front rotor bearing. Also there may not be a spacer on the forward end of the rotor shaft, and there needs to be one there. The rotor is too close to the front of the rotor housing. Look at the inside of the front part of the rotor housing if you can, for evidence of metal scraping. It could be that you will have to remove the rotor in order to discover the issue that is causing the vibration. You also stated that the vibration noise is louder when going down hill and almost non existent when going up hill. That is because the rotor is moving back and forth inside of the rotor housing, Because your combine is under warrantee, I would let the manufacture fix the problem. Also the front rotor bearing may not adequate for the job that it has to do. New models of any machine is always a live and learn experience.

If you shear the unloader bolts again, take the chain off that drives the cross auger before engaging again. Should be able to use an extra deep 24mm on an impact to slack it enough to pop it off. Engage to clean the unloader out, put the chain back on & you should be back in business. I also assume you know that shield over the unloader chain can flip open? Would make getting to the shear bolt storage easier I think.

The guy in the cab talking in the first couple minutes, in the winter time if he could travel around the country giving a presentation on how to act like a wonderful customer that would be awesome. Nothing makes a mechanic want to help a customer out more than an attitude like you guys. The up and down hill change of the vibration is a little confusing. If the vibration seems to be related to the rotor because he said you can feel it change as rotor speed changes the first place I would look is the variable drive belt. Then go from there. Rotor loss a balancer weight, bearing... I had an T8 get the unload auger shut off with a full auger. We had to take the chain off that fed the horizontal augers. Then we could clean out the auger put the chain on and get back to work. Kind of a freak deal

@RockyMountainFarmer I hope you find the problem. I had a combined whole maybe 10 years ago and early in the day it had a slight vibration couldn't find nothing by that evening you swore the cab was going to shake right off. Hold the variable belt off and visibly you could not see anything wrong but put a new one on and that thing ran smooth. I hope it's something that simple for you. You can watch the belts and see if you get a vibration anywhere. If any idler has a rhythmic bounce to it or if any belt is really shaky. It wasn't uncommon on some of the other combines to get a flat spot on a main power belt and it would transfer that vibration to the rotor drive.

Its a LOT to do per year per combine, and a header also, lots of wear and tear, If you count that all together, its like 2250 something hectares per year per combine. If you watch mikes videos from fendt years, you can see a lot of "lightweight" stuff on those combines, as Mike says, some parts has to be cast iron, not 1/4 inch thick "tin" 😢

Sometimes that’s why you need good service departments and mechanics that know what they’re doing. Once we figured out the issues and what we were doing wrong we never had any more issues.

Operator error. If you shut the auger off when it’s clear full, then turn it back on it shears there are some gates you can close if you know you’re not gonna be able to empty it all out but we keep forgetting to close them before we shut it off and then we sheer it. So it’s our fault, but we’re learning.

You guys need some radios in your machines so you can communicate with each other. And as for the “useless windmills“; they aren’t windmills, they’re wind turbines. And they certainly aren’t useless. In fact, they are very useful, clean generating energy, which among other things allows you to see the mountains because the air is now clean and clear! 😮. 😊.
@RockyMountainFarmer
@RockyMountainFarmer 20 дней назад
We could see the mountains great before they were there. Wind is one of the most expensive ways to produce energy.

Get rid of that combine as it has caused too many problems so far and some areas are difficult to work on. There are other competitive combines every bit as good and some even better than Fendt. A Gleaner with a 40 foot head will be just as productive, less expensive and easier to work on.
