More Local Tausug Cooking (Ethnic Group With Muslim Beliefs) In The Philippines - Panyam

"Tausug Pancakes"... that is how I would describe this special snack made by the Tausug here in the Philippines. The actual name is "Panyam".
This is another simple video of my time learning about Tausug cooking with local women in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. I had so much fun trying to cook my own Panyam! In this video you will also see me eating "Lukot-Lukot" the other snack that I tried to make in the previous video!
Panyam is a Tausug pastry made of rice flour and is usually served during special occasions and is really good! I wonder what it would be like if you filled it, or put toppings on it?! Hmmm... maybe next time :)

renz639 . You can do it by yourself. Just buy rice flour add sugar with water but not too watery make it sticky and leave it til d sugar dissolved then cook in deep fryer.

Jah is one of my favorite. Much better if it's newly cook 'coz it's crispy. There's plenty of Tausog delicacies namely Hantak-Hantak, Pali-kambing, Wadjit, Durul, Putli-Mandi, Daral & to name a few.

Thanks kulas for being appreciated to our own culture, The Culture of the Moro Tribe in Mindanao are so vibrant and so rich, from Food, Dance, Literature, Arts and Architectural, we have our own Language, most Tausugs are friendly and easy to get a long. Most of the time, the Media always put us on a bad light, when a Man gets a arrested for a crime, and he's a Muslim they will put in the news " Muslim Man gets arrested" but when another person gets arrested and he's not a Muslim they don't pit his religion out there " *insert Relion here* Man gets arrested".. see?

You really are becoming Pinoy with your gestures. That section where you pretend to fling your sweat at the panyan and said "joke" is very Filipino. I grew up in Arizona and learned to use "just kidding", "kidding", "JK", or "psych". It wasn't until I moved to California and made friends that grew up in the Philippines did I hear "joke". I still hear "eh" on your vids and I'm sure that will never go away, eh.

This is called "PANYALAM" in our own dialect and is part of our culture as SUBANEN. I think, our Muslim brothers have the same delicacy/desert.

It's yummy but the only problem you can't eat every day because it's too oily so if someone have a high cholesterol or diabetes it's not ideal to have but anyway Kulas thank you so much for the respect and appreciation for the culture and tradition you are such a nice human being which I wish everyone could be like you thank you so much I'm originally from Zambomba but I live my whole life in Europe and everywhere else although I visit my family over there as often as I can but once again thank you so much and I'm just glad you seems to be enjoying your time there take care and God bless upon you and of course everyone else thanks
