@@whataboutbunny I have a question: I believe there was once a video in which Bunny also heard people outside and you also opened the door for her to see that they were gone. Your front door, not the door to the patio/sea side. But that must have been recorded way back. I do not find it anymore. Do you remember that incident? Was it real or do I imagine this?

It's so interesting that she refers to her reflection as "Dog". This is a step in the right direction! Good girl! Perhaps a good idea would be to get her to look at you in the mirror, ask "who the human is", and help her understand that "mom is here _and_ in the mirror". Once she grasps the idea of "mirror mom", she might understand "mirror Bunny".

@@fist-of-doom487 Most dogs recognise their reflections… They learn that when they’re puppies (that’s why there’s so many videos online of puppies barking at their mirror reflections and trying to initiate play with the reflections). There's stages to learning your reflection is yourself Dogs/cats can definitely learn to recognise their reflection as them too Our cat as a kitten would first run up playfully to the mirror standing on the floor, as he came from a big kitten house (two litters at once) Then that changed to charge attacks, and chickening out last second to hide XD Now he will look in the mirror, and we see him turn his head, checking himself out, before giving a lil nod and walking off

I suspect that dogs think in pictures and this may explain why Bunny needs time to respond to questions. It might be interesting to combine pictures with audio/words.I can see that this might not be easy or practical, however if might also expand/speed up Bunny's success with communication. Note: Some people think in pictures and as a result, despite high ability, translating thoughts in pictures to words is a challenge.

As others pointed out, the first/then construct is easier than the before/after construct. "first settle, then play" instead of "settle before play" of the even more complicate to decode "before play, settle" used here, where the correct understanding is in the tone intonation and presence of comma and not just on the words and positioning, and since bunny can't press intonation and doesn't care much for positioning, before/after is very hard for button-based speech. It's an English grammar fault, not bunny's fault. Also in English language "before" is both adverb as well as preposition and this adds to the confusion. "before play, settle" since before is also adverb, can legit mean before=earlier (at first) play, then settle, in a button-based language without intonation, it's just ambiguous and undecidable of prone to confusion the very least. "now settle, later play" would be easier So can use the now/later instead of first/then others use. Bunny already has "now" 100% understood. So just need to learn "later". Uhm, she already knows "soon" so can use now/soon instead of first/then. "now settle, play soon" bunny would already understand that perfectly. That said, if Bunny finally will understand before and after, and start minding order of words when listening or talking, she will prove she can handle more difficult constructs as well! And kudos to mum to persevering on the harder route of teaching before/after instead of the shortcut to use now/soon bunny already knows!

Would Bunny enjoy playing games with words? For example, you make a sound and/or show a picture/object that represents something that makes a sound, bunny will be challenged to "go fetch" the word/animal that makes the sound. You could start with bird, dog, and cat, and expand as she is exposed to roosters, chickens, ducks, cows, etc...
