I know Mrazek wasn’t good with the leafs but he was without a doubt the best player on the Blackhawks this season. He got shelled every game and kept them in and won more games than the Hawks should have

Call me crazy, but I actually have faith in the new Flyers front office. I believe the new guys will actually fight back againsts the big 3 and do what they think is right. The “New Era of Orange” thing is incredibly stupid though.
I try not to yell at the TV, but the beginning of the first period was hard to watch because the Leafs wouldn’t finish a hit. Within minutes of them taking it to the boards, the game shifted in our direction. GO LEAFS!

As an Oilers fan, if Marner is the first to go from the Leafs, that is just the best. There's no way the Leafs get better if you commit to Matthews over Marner, but hey, what do I know, I just watch all the Leafs games as well as many other teams and it's so clear that Marner is the driver.
He definitely was the leafs best player this past season, but the problem with the team as a whole is consistency. You can point to almost any player on this team and find a game or where they were the best Toronto player on the ice as well as games where they played horribly and led to a loss. If you ask me, getting rid of one player wont fix the issue no matter who it is because the system as a whole needs to be thrown out. All of the players on this team are incredibly capable, but they never show up as a team when they need to.

Finally! Fans that understand how VALUABLE Marner is to this team. I never understood the Marner hate either. It's like Leaf fans are so blind. Marner has been the Leafs best player for a few years now. He pretty much does it all for this team except play goalie and yet people still don't see his worth. He's our best setup man in PP, he's our best Penalty Killer, he's easily a 90+ (dare I say 100+ point player easy), he can get you 30 goals. When another of the core 4 is on a slump what do they do? They put Marner on their line. What more do people want from him. You can tell he loves this team and does it all. Trading away Marner would be the BIGGEST mistake Leafs ever make.
One ball away isn't necessarily as close as you think: Balls are numbered 1 to 14. If you're only assigned one of the remaining numbers, you have a 1/14 chance (~7.1%) Obviously your team might have several winning combinations, but each winning ball gives you ~7/1% more. Without knowing which teams were assigned all of the remaining numbers, there's no way to know how close your team came.
The comments about "it's never the stars who aren't looked out for"- that's not universally true. The US women's gymnastics situation proves that being a star doesn't necessarily protect someone from egregious violations, and stars are absolutely still subject to systemic issues- being expected to play through injury, having the team decide on their medical decisions.
Leafs are not the most hated team at all, leafs FANS are the most hated lol, the Bruins still hold the title for most hated TEAM for multiple reasons....leafs fans saying they are the most hated is a perfect example of why we hate them, full of themselves for no damn reason, it is what it is...

Call me crazy, but as a Flyers fan, I’m somewhat optimistic. I think Briere is a really smart guy and would’ve been better than any of the recently fired squad (Hextall, Treliving, etc.). He’s the first guy in charge of the Flyers for a while to mention the word rebuild. As for Keith Jones, I really just hope that he’s able to do his job without interference from the “wise men”. I think if that happens, he’ll be fine. I also don’t understand why people are complaining that both these guys previously played for the Flyers. The guy they just fired in Fletcher didn’t, which people seem to somewhat be forgetting, so does playing for the team or not really make a difference? Both these guys seem at the very least more competent compared than Fletcher as well as being extremely passionate so I say just give them a chance
I think there are some teams with such a strong identity that it becomes important to have management who are ex-team. The Broad Street Bullies are just such a team. That said, I never thought Hextall was right for the job. But nobody asked me.
I'm sorry, but as a Red Wings fan who has been around since the glory days, if I found out the organization was covering up the kind of assault the Blackhawks were, I'd find a new team to root for.

I think a lot of the advanced stats stuff you guys were talking about is actually a case of pushback. When you have everyone moaning and bitching about how the Leafs suck and the Panthers are amazing while ignoring the reality in front of their face it's only natural to point out how badly the Leafs spanked the Panthers everywhere but the scoreboard. I have no issue with the idea that results are all that matter but at the same time you can't cry about how "the Leafs lost because they suck and suck because they lost" when that's 100% false (at least for games 1 & 2, game 3 was a pathetic trainwreck).
All year, while the Hawks were actively tanking, no one said anything about how they should’ve been stripped of draft picks. No one said they should’ve been stripped at last year’s draft when they had three 1st round picks. If they dropped to 4 or 5 in this lottery, I absolutely guarantee no one says anything still. It’s only an issue now that they won the lottery. I’m sorry I’m not falling for anyone who says they’re genuinely concerned about the Beach situation for a few reasons. 1. People pick and choose when they wanna bring it up. 2. As a survivor of SA myself, and I still have to hear about and see my abuser because he’s “family”, who is it benefitting to constantly bring up Beach’s name whenever the Hawks are mentioned? I can tell you from experience, NOT Beach. He is constantly being reminded of his trauma because his name is constantly brought up along side the names of the people that hurt him. So again, people are only upset because their team will not have Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks will.
I also don’t recall people bringing this up in last year’s draft, nor did I hear it going into this years draft up until they actually won it. Everyone knew the odds for a while, but the moment they won, these other fans immediately throw Beach’s name and face around to help justify their own disappointment and it’s kinda sick.
First, people did bring it up in the lead-up to the draft, but it wasn't loud. The reason for that was that they already didn't have a 1st-round pick last year. Their 1st-rounder belonged to Columbus from the Seth Jones trade. The league simply could not strip a pick that the Blackhawks didn't have, or strip Columbus of a draft pick that they'd traded for in good faith, and that's why you don't remember hearing about it. (That does not excuse the league for not tabling that punishment until this year and beyond, however.) All those 1st-rounders were acquired THAT WEEK, from other teams, for Dach, DeBrincat, etc. Could the league have barred the hawks from trading into the 1st round? Maybe, but I've literally never heard of that happening from any league under any circumstances. Hell, Arizona traded into the 1st round at the 2021 draft, when they'd been stripped of their pick that year, and the NHL allowed that. I've seen this argument - why didn't you complain about it last year - pop up a lot, but it ignores every last ounce of context.
The Pietrangelo defenders remind me of the same who defended Scheifele when he skated the length of the ice to deck Jake Evans, after scoring an empty net goal. There was no need to re-watch the footage a dozen times to know intent. He was angry and he wanted to hurt him. Simple as that. One game wasn't enough.
Bouchard has had one bad game defensively all playoffs and these goofballs saying he needs to "step it up". Man has 15 points and has been impactfull literally everywhere on the ice.
It will be rare that I'll see Connor Bedard play because of the stupid blackout bologna that Iowa hockey fans go though. No Minnesota, St Louis or Chicago games for us because we can go ahead and drive 4, 5 and 5 and a half hours to see one of the teams in adjoining states. That's why I became a Kraken fan.
It is whining because in Gm 1 against Tampa he was complaining that the Leafs lost and didnt put up a fight at the end of the game. But when another team puts up a fight, thats a no-no, shouldnt be allowed. Not the other teams faults that the Leafs cant take a piece out of a team when they lose

I want to point out. My fiancé and I are getting married in August. I’ve been a rangers fan for 15+ years. My fiancé is a huge Flyers fan, as is my uncle. And my future father in law is a Huge Devils fan. My father also lives in North Carolina, so I’m also a Hurricanes fan. So me and my father in law have been going at it.

Those Flyers press releases scream "guy that fucked up a relationship several times tries to convince his partner that he's finally changed" to me. I can't see anything changing until the whole structure of the organization changes. Too bad Comcast doesn't really care to change anything.

Sorry Adam, you are dead wrong on the best leaf from round 1. That was Rielly 100% and it's not even close. Dude stepped up his game, fought and was getting involved in the mess. He threw big hits (shocking I know) and played better defensively, blocking shots and breaking up rush chances. He was way better in the 2 way play. He had great first passes and zone exits, so far as being one of the only capable leafs on the backend to exit the zone through skating or passing. He stepped up and said the right things and he found ways to position himself better defensively than he had all year. Top this with how Rielly has consistently shown up in playoffs year over year, you can't argue who is TOR's best player in the 1st round. He's even playing well enough for consideration this 2nd round, you know, if they do the thing. Everyone always wants to say that teams need their "hedman"' type players in order to win. Well I think Rielly has done enough and proven enough this year to be considered comparable. Sure not as good but exactly what the leafs need right now and delivering. People need to start giving Rielly his dues. He's also the only one of the "core" who took a discount. Sure he's making more than Nylander but sorry, he's your top pair D, and has been for years. He's your best D skill / talent wise and has been for years. He's playing D as a position and on average 10 more minutes a game than Nylander so like... of course he should make more. The fact it's not substantially more should tell you something about how valuable he is to this team. In another world, I would believe Rielly could have been Captain of the leafs. And let's face it, leafs missed a golden chance to literally have "Captain Morgan" for years as a saying. There's still time when JT hands it over.

There are 2 sets of rules in the NHL , Rules for the teams they want to advance in the playoffs and rules for the teams they dont want to advance . I 100 % agree with the thought that Bettman does NOT want 2 Canadian teams to make the final and he would be happy if NO Canadian team EVER made the final . That is not CRAZY thinking either , Canadians have AMERICAN teams they cheer for and watch , CANADIANS will still watch the play offs even if their team has been knocked out AMERICANS who cheer for a Canadian team are very very few and far between and almost non EXISTENT and the same goes for the number of Americans who will watch the NHL if 2 Canadian teams were in the final . There is to much money to be lost if a Canadian team is in the final but money to be gained with 2 American teams .

I agree that the Core's mix doesn't work. They individually may all get their rings on separate teams, but not together. In playoff situations, they need babysitters and wont stand for one another. McJesus was prepared to get rough on behalf of Leon, none of the 4 would do it for their line-mates (see the reaction to Knies being dropped......) And from a fan's perspective, I would not have been as mad about them being 3 down, if they had shown some pushback. Prevented from playing + can't fight = will not go anywhere together.
