@@smsgtbulldog Exactly. They claim is a 1 gram difference per segment. That's why I originally just got the 6 segment slug. Not only was it the most awesome looking, but it was also the lightest, and closer to the weight of the Lyman 525.
Great video...I love my Russian slog molds. I find that a light dusting of graphite powder or spray on the stems will prevent sticking until you can get every thing up to the proper temps
Very true. It doesn't last for a long time, but makes starting off a whole lot easier. I have some dry graphite, but haven't tried it yet. I took an old gift card and drilled it to just fit around the fins. That way I can stand it on end and spray just the surfaces that contact lead, but not get graphite all over the handle.
The molds are very similarly constructed, and both have their pros & cons. Svarog handles are more comfortable in the hand (think Lee vs RBS handles), but the AS core pin handle is larger and easier to grip. I think AS may have the edge in quality, but I'd say it's really more down to the slug design you want since they both have offerings the other doesn't. I have the Svarog Zveroboy, but I think the Twister verion is a better design since thins at the separation point, and has a bit more of a diabolo shape. In theory it should fragment more consistently at lower velocities (TFM had them fragmenting subsonic).
@@psykoklown874 Cheers man for your reply. I've been speaking with Elizabeth today over at AS via email. She too mentioned AS were of better quality :) The twister 6 and 4 slits look very nice I was after an Oz fragmenting slug. And I think the botfly matches that criteria?!
@@ClarkesonTheMarksman From what I can find the Botfly is closer to 1 oz than even the 6 petal Twister. I suggest ordering extra core pins for segmented slugs if possible since the fins can be easily damaged if dropped. You can file them smooth, but they'll be misshapen after awhile. AS won't sell replacements (claim hand fitted), but they might if ordered at the same time as the mold.
Last night I placed an order with a Russia company really don’t know what the name is but have the Zevero boy and botfly. I could not figure out how to pay out but received an order confirmation with order number. It said not paid and I need to issue an invoice manually…..I don’t understand. Did yo pay during checkout. If you can give me any help I would appreciate it. Seems the company you ordered from may be easier. Thanks for any help!
Mine are from as-molds.com/ They have you fill out your order on the product page and then they email you a PayPal link, but I'm pretty sure they had to change that with the Ukraine situation. It's an odd system, but it works.
Thank you very much for your speedy reply! Do you have any knowledge of the website I’m referring to? It’s CBAROT or something like that. Once again thank you very much for your help Sir!
@@psykoklown874 Thank you for the reply. A lady at AS molds emailed me to verify I understood the delivery situation that they will make and ship the mold but do not guarantee delivery. I told her I didn’t think I wanted to invest $230 with no delivery guarantee. I truly appreciate your help.
