i have the wide beam on top and combo on bottom. Unreal. I have hid headlights with phillips extreme bulbs. With the wide beams on the white light is incredible. Every crack , hole or road imperfection is so visible. When i put on the combo beams , forget it . It is unreal. I never thought i would have lights like this. IT looks like daytime. When i turn off the wide beam and have on just my hid,s , they look yellow !!! I am going to put another pair wide beam just above lower spoiler. Chris is not exaggerating. And is an expert. I have photos of them on , but does not do Justice to the actual light output. I cannot seem to post my pics

I need just a Lou more info if you don’t mind. When you say wide on top, you mean angled to be on top or angled in the same direction and physically mounted on top, one above the other? Also, you are saying the higher angled wide beam hxb combined with the Philips hid low beam to appear yellow for higher fog visibility? Which Philips hid bulb?
@BorisEkner
@BorisEkner 2 года назад
Agreed. Only spot lights won’t be good enough for the average driver due to the tunnel effect. - We (the average ones) needs a wide pattern to eliminate the tunnel vision.

On fog lights … There is no universal standard when it comes to auxiliary lights. Some manufacturers call pencil beam or wide beam auxiliaries ‘fog lights’ when they are NOT! A true fog light assembly is placed at the lowest point of the from bumper. On tonic that, it creates a beam pattern that is flat is disc. Because there is a space between the ground/road/street that is clear, meaning there is a few inches if clear air under the fog. That’s the area where the flat fog beam is dedicated for.

Combos of pencil/wide beam are never good in extreme conditions. And the extreme is what you should aim for because it will be more flexible when wired and used correctly.

On reverse lights … ALWAYS go for the wide spread lights. Always! -Because that’s what you need when reseeding in the dark, wide lights.

Beam pattern not covered here is the flood beam pattern. What about using them on the a pillar mounted pod if you already have fog lights a combo beam and a spot up front plus a fullsize lightbar on top of the windshield. ie: pointing them out oard and actually using them as ditch lights. What's better in this scenario, flood, wide or combo? I feel like combo will be too intense, and wide might not have the height desired for this purpose.
@HeadlightRevolution
@HeadlightRevolution 25 дней назад
The flood beam was not released when this video came out - the flood is ideal for close by area lighting. As a ditch light, we'd recommend the spot or combo beams for the most performance and usage.

I was considering two interior, grill mounted, amber spots (hxb) to cut through heavy fog. I would have two white hxbs in the fog light position with wide beam. In heavy fog, I would turn both on to get a combo white/yellow effect. They say that the two combined increase depth perception. I’m hoping it will be 2x as effective for those really bad snow and fog conditions. Does this sound plausible?
@HeadlightRevolution

Yes absolutely, that would be a great combination!

@HeadlightRevolution

I would run a combo instead of a spot, but don't use the combo all the time, wiring it up with your high beam would be best!

I work in northern Alberta. Unfortunately in the last 2 years I've hit 2 different moose since my (2006 silverado 2500hd) headlights don't illuminate the ditches well. I'm looking for an a-pillar set up that will give me some light off to the sides wired with my high beams maybe. Could you point me in the right direction? I'd definitely appreciate it.

I think spotlight beams are perfect for on the road driving in the middle of nowhere, anything above 50mph and they’re great in combination with OEM headlights.

Are wide hxb 4bangers on the A pillar street legal?
@HeadlightRevolution
@HeadlightRevolution 11 месяцев назад
In most states, you can have A-pillar lights as long as it has a black-out cover while driving down the road. We do have black-out covers available for the 4Banger pod lights. The only street legal pods you'll find are typically pods lights using the wide beam pattern as an SAE approved and compliant fog light, such as the NCS and HXB wide beam fog light kits.

Here are the EU standard/regulations on auxiliary lights. - This is NOT a 140 character Tweet… Bare with me, because it’s important. - As I am from Sweden, SE, where I was born in 1962 & lived until 2010 - SE, on Road … 1. Standard low/high beam regular incandescent H4’s are permitted, of coarse. 2. However - In Sweden (and in AUS) there are NO limits to how many auxiliary lights one can apply to a vehicle/-s as long as all auxiliary lamps/lights currently used are turned off/on from high beam to low beam when we flick the high/low beam leaver at the steering wheel. This means that, while still living in Sweden (SE) driving my old 1998 Hilux, was street legal with close to 1500W halogens (~2,500 meters / 8,200ft / (at 1 lux), facing forward. Because when another vehicle approach us we all flip the high beams used to the low beam flip. - How did I wire that, you may ask? - Well, it’s petty simple when you understand the concept. - .. I wired them all so I had a switch in the cabin connected to the high beam RELAYS ground wire, I.e., their on/off. (No current passing through the ground switch when turned off is a safety issue.) - This wiring allowed me to chose the best auxiliary lights turned on/or off/ depending on the current driving conditions. This means that there is only one(!) switch to turn any of the high beam light/-s off, using the high/low beam leaver. I.e,. with a flick of the leaver I can turn any high beam off just by pulling the leaver towards me. Explanation Let’s say you have low beam fog lights (more on fog’s below) in the front bumper, high beam in the original head lights (H4). Then an extra LED bar just above the front license plate (for short distance illumination), the rest of the auxiliary lights are applied in front as well as on the roof. All groups (of lights) are using a separate relay. The GROUND wire of those relays are all on a separate vehicle switch inside the cabin. Meaning, all groups of lights are co cortolled within the cabin. Va Example 1 … When starting the vehicle all switches (ie relay grounds are in the ‘On’ position. No matter how many, all are turned on, as they are in high beam. But as you drive along you realize that they are too much(!) light in front of you, so you turn one or two groups off by pressing/flipping the (ground to relay) switch Inside your our cabin. Example 2 - I.e., the other way around … When driving in intense darkness you need more high beam but realize you haven’t all of them illuminating the track ahead. As you already are in high beam mode you just need to add / turn on / 1 or 2 auxiliaries on to get the illumination you want in front of you. Meaning … If you can turn on your auxiliary lights when at low beam, your vehicle electrician didn’t understand his own profession. A video on this issue will be published on RU-vid / Pacaya Overland / in a few weeks time. - Why, you may ask? -Because it’s important!

I had a '91 blazer with 5 KC style spotlights mounted to the roof rack, and two wide beam lights, one on each side, aimed perpendicular to the blazer. KC's #1, #3 and #5 faced forward. #2 and #4 faced to the rear. With them all turned on at the same time, along with the side lights, I let up the woods like a UFO from Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I guess the neighbors we had decades ago had never seen them on before, and one night the wife came around the curve on one end of our U-shaped street, while the neighbors were standing at their car with a huge bag of "herb" on the hood. When the wife hit the light switches and they all lit up at once, you should have seen the frenzy next door. Both guys slung the big bag back and forth, each trying to make the other one take it and run. It ended up with one guy ripping the bag open and flinging the contents all over their front yard. When they realized it was our blazer, as she was pulling up to the drive really slow, they started cursing the craziest storm of colorful words I'd ever heard. All I could do was laugh and gasp for breath.
