This one is easily one of my favourite Morrissey songs and in my opinion the best opening track on any album. I relate to your struggle at the start to pinpoint exactly what it is about this song that makes it so good. There's just something about it, even beyond the amazing vocal performance, instruments and lyrics. It's simultaneously quintessential Morrissey and something very different.
Love your 'Moz Fridays', there's so much for you to explore in Morrissey's enormous catalogue of songs. I really recomend 'Life is a Pigsty' from his 2006 album 'Ringleader of rhe Tormentors'
Most definitely... I bought this album when it was released and I have never really stopped listening to it. If a song from this album comes up on shuffle I immediately switch over and play the whole album on shuffle.
Saw Morrisey in Leeds 2 years ago. He does a short film before he comes on of his favourite things and one the songs is one of my all time favourite. Everlasting Love by Love Affair have a listen it's an oldie but brilliant

Something so bad had happened that people need counselling afterwards and an entire house rebuilt (hyperbole from Morrissey) but then the dad empties the room with an inappropriate joke. Hilarious. We’ve all been there. He buries himself in poetry and finds Dallow, Spicer, Pinkie and Cubitt (gangsters from a book called Brighton Rock) somewhat an inspiration. Which filled his heart. Genius.
I 🖤 Everything about Vauxhall & I (Reference to the film., Withnall & I) Is one of Morrissey's most celebrated albums. I love the guitars on this track, they allow Morrissey to soar amd fly. A wonderful song that explores the experience of love unrequited & unrealised.. The sense that it echoes the question "How Soon Is Now?" Amongst my favourite Morrissey, songs along with Yes I Am Blind & November Spawned a Monster. Always a lovely reaction video & congratulations on nailing the pronounciation of colloquialism lol (& yes I did have to look up how to spell it lol) Stay awesome HappiGoth x
I remember the first time I heard this song. Was in Royal oak, MI spring 1994 with my dad and best friend. We had lunch and I went to the record shop and got this album and put it in. These were the first sounds I heard on a nearly perfect album
this album... NOTHING is wrong about it. perfection. sublime pop music. my cd still has some of the smell it did when I bought it in 1994. that smell of brand new books, cds, etc. I didn't live there but bought it in rio de janeiro. a friend of mine was there with me and he bought "treasure" by the cocteau twins. oh, memories 😁 hope you're fine, nick.
