“Stop watching the news Because news contrives to frighten you To make you feel small and alone To make you feel that your mind isn’t your own” He completely nailed it.
"I'm not my type" indicates a whole paragraph of information, guys. it's clever because of HOW much information is contained within one phrase, then add the next verse "but I love my bed" and it means a whole lot more. (I dont quite get from the 2 phrases the mastubating analogy.. I can see how someone who thinks about things in that way, or remembering the other line directly referencing it, could pick that out however.) but I do quite love the lines myself as well.
I can't believe Morrissey is old. Maybe it's because I never hear older people talk about him or hear him on the radio on the classic rock stations I listen to. I feel like his music fits perfectly with my generation, I mean, his is music is timeless. He should be way more famous. I discovered him when I was eighteen and really connected to his music. The guy may have gotten old but to me he's still as young in spirits as he ever was. Thanks Morrissey.
CJ de Niño- Not really.... Morrissey and the Smiths were pretty famous, you should look it up. But both The Smiths and Morrissey (when he started his solo career) were never main stream music. Morrissey has his fans, lots of fans, I might add. His music doesn't fall under rock, it's alternative rock and that's why you don't hear it on just any radio station. People of different ages and backgrounds have related to his music that mainly talks about being an outsider, loneliness, and feeling like you don't belong anywhere. He is an awesome singer, indeed.
How well you think! I know Morrissey from the year 88, I think he ended his time with the Smiths ... I wish you listened to them (The Smiths), I think so, an icon band of the English Post Punk ... For me the best music far away is The Smiths and then Morrissey second ... I have all their albums / least the last one) and I can not stop listening to them, they are like the soundtrack of my life ... It has always accompanied me in my loneliness and in my option MGTOW ( free man of sex and women, who follows his own path), I also love that Morrissey loves animals ... Well for you and well for Morrissey that even if he dies I will always listen to him. Saludos de Chile...
Hardly old....but not young either....if you are around the 30 mark believe me 50 will come along in no time (never mind 40).....'age is a state of mind' .
I'm so so happy to see Moz in this kind of content again. After the whole Harvest incident, seeing him get a proper music video with one of the best directors out there, a full set of vinyl releases, a series of great live performances worldwide and just a great promotional campaign generally makes me SO ridiculously pleased. He deserves nothing less.
A true talent can write great songs in their late career. Morrissey is one of those great talents. Impressed on the first listen, most songs don't do that to me.
Holy cow, I really don't know if he is capable of writing a bad song. And those his voice has changed, evolved with age, its still strong and beautiful.
2020 TV news: COVID-19, economic crash, oil war, bla bla... Me: spending my day listening this great song over and over, living the moment. Thanks Morrissey.
Oh yes. Exactly. Best not to even turn on the news these days. Just a bunch of political nonsense. Nothing but a bunch of narcissistic douche bags looking to be reelected so they can give you more of the same. Hint: politicians don't care about you. Only those who line their pockets.
Im in a nursing home, I broke my hip last year, didnt heal well, so I pretty much spend EVERY day in bed! Its not soo bad, look I found this beautiful song. Its so uplifting and encouraging! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bless you Deborah Dolan. I’m so glad you found this song and were able to find joy in it! If it was by pure happenstance- keep looking! This man has created a wealth of knowledge in the form of music. Listen to The Smith’s as well. I hope your hip has healed, and that you are living life as you wish today!
@@angelroach110 Angel thank you so much! You're response to my comment is so beautiful! To take the time to talk to someone you've never met, is truly sent from above! God Bless you and yours. Also I appreciate your music suggestion! My best to you Angel. Love Debbie 💖🎵
I've been a great fan of his talent since middle school. (I'm 49 now) His fan base is amazingly diverse and passionate for him. He's a true poet in song.
Yeah, really! Lots of people have always been offended by things he's said publically. But as "truth and poetry are related, just the same, Marjory of people efen hate poetry" and Morrissey is a huge fan of BOTH.
There’s a reason this man struggles to get labels, interviews, publicity… The establishment don’t like people who undermined them by speaking the truth.
This song makes me smile every single day!!! I've been loving Morrissey since the 80's and I love him even more today! Can't wait to see him in Las Vegas this summer!!!
@@morrissey7146 I am so happy you read the comments sometimes. Wish I'd left an intelligent one in response to Karyn! Your music has meant so much to me since I discovered it. There's just no one like you and you make me feel so much less alone. Please stay exactly as you are. I can't stand this fake world. :)
A musical prodigy and genius _. This Man captures every single human emotion , feeling and struggle, I loved him when he was with the Smiths.. I love him even more now
When I just left university and was unemployed and couldn't deal with depression and the lockdown in England, I spent days in bed listening to this song, one of the few things which helped me out. Love you Morrissey
Quite simply his best "pop" single in years. Beautifully crafted with the electric piano oddly reminiscent of Queens "your my best friend" in that it evokes a certain vulnerability & openness. Brilliant lyrics proving Morrissey has lost Nothing with age and unlike so many great artists his gift will never fade. Needs to be played to and heard by a wider audience.
Patrick Oneil I'm sorry but isn't it kind of far-fetched to say that he lost nothing? I agree that it is a good tune, but lyrically speaking, it has absolutely nothing to do with Suedehead, Sunday, Still Ill or Asleep.
Heard this song for the first time today on the radio. Thought it was something new, cant believe its almost 3 years old now. Amazing song and artist:)
That's because its true, fear gets views, that is how they make their money through advertising. look it up go on research how fear works on the human mind.
GaeasBlessing False. He is aging as shown evident by this video, He cannot walk on water and He has no ability to resurrect the dead. Therefore, He is not literally a god. In your opinion He is a figurative god.
Not ashamed to say I had a quiet cry when Morrissey came to New Zealand and played Last of the Gang to Die - one of my favourites. We were all singing with him at the top of our lungs. I started listening to Moz right back from Charming Man and so have so many memories and emotions attached to his music. Thank you Sir.
@dani cali I was living in the USA at the time, and needed some sardonic wit. The line "As the workers stay enslaved" inspired me to move, to change my life.
How did Joey Barton get in the Video? Great song, love it. He's on top form. This is an Album I am definitely getting. Great video in a proper old school working mans\womans club.
@@stephaniecunha3552 I don't have time to talk much here, write to me on my privately on Google Hangout, celebritystar059@gmail.com, I’ll keep in touch over there.
This man knows and is prepared to sacrifice his musical career for what is _right_ What a total hero and absolute madman! God Bless You Steven Morrissey ❤️
Jewel Citizen Yeah I’m subbed to both of them. Morgoth is from my neck of the woods actually and although I’m not certain, I’m pretty sure I know him personally.
There's so much revolution in this song ! Stay in bed, don't go to work where you're belittled and exploited; live by your own rules Inn your own reality !
Lyrics : Spent the day in bed Very happy I did, yes I spent the day in bed As the workers stay enslaved I spent the day in bed I'm not my type, but I love my bed And I recommend that you [Chorus] Stop watching the news! Because the news contrives to frighten you To make you feel small and alone To make you feel that your mind isn't your own [Verse 2] I spent the day in bed It's a consolation When all my dreams Are perfectly legal In sheets for which I paid I am now laid And I recommend to all of my friends that they [Chorus] Stop watching the news! Because the news contrives to frighten you To make you feel small and alone To make you feel that your mind isn't your own [Bridge] Oh time, do as I wish Time, do as I wish Oh time, do as I wish Time, do as I wish Oh time, do as I wish Time, do as I wish Oh time, do as I wish Do as I wish [Verse 3] I spent the day in bed You can please yourself, but I spent the day in bed Pillows like pillars Life ends in death So, there's nothing wrong with Being good to yourself Be good to yourself for once! [Outro] And no bus, no boss, no rain, no train No bus, no boss, no rain, no train No bus, no boss, no rain, no train No emasculation, no castration No highway, freeway, motorway No bus, no boss, no rain, no train No bus, no boss, no rain, no train No bus, no boss, no rain, no train
